  1. I was an alcoholic long before this, sorry pops.
  2. These are going to be very short, they even said so, I think it's somewhere around 1/4 of a mile length. It's a 3 minute ride on the cars. Look at Valleyfair's antique cars for an idea of their size.
  3. I figure there will be 2, if the lift hill is slow enough, they might not sit in the brakes too long.
  4. I would imagine the biggest concern on these rides is capacity.
  5. Same layout, modified from the original Stealth layout.
  6. Don't forget about converting Flight of Fear to MTV: Soundwave (I think that's what it was going to be called).
  7. I also think the way the ride layout would have been in AZ would have been better, as you would have had walking paths around it, instead of it being tucked back in a corner of the park. I think Nighthawk has pretty good placement at Carowinds.
  8. Funny how rumors go around! I had also heard it was supposed to go back in X Base where it currently resides. After seeing the crude mock up in the post earlier, it makes sense that it would have went into Action Zone. It's funny how the Butterfly Effect affected the park by not adding X-Flight/Firehawk originally. We may have never had TR:TR, Delirium, or Backlot.
  9. I think the most ironic thing about this is that they tore down KCKC because it was an eyesore and installed a giant tan box in Rivertown.
  10. This was the ride I was going to be the least upset about leaving.
  11. As a mechanical/manufacturing engineer, I may be able to clear this up. This could be a bit of a wording issue. I doubt they will stop SUPPLYING parts, but they may have stopped stocking or producing those parts themselves. As equipment gets older and costs go up, they may have made the business decision that purchasing those parts may be costing them money and released the parts to be supplied by the park, and not Vekoma. When this happens, prices for the parts go up, because they aren't being made in the quantity that Vekoma was ordering them and also may possibly be made to order. Also, in manufacturing, business is booming. The lead times on everything have gone through the roof. Generally on a machined component, you are looking at 6 to 8 weeks from a reputable supplier, depending on size, material, etc. Just my .02.
  12. I had heard some inklings last week that Firehawk is going to be removed on Twitter. Then this pops up. I'm betting Firehawk, but the placement next to Backlot is interesting.
  13. Interesting, if it gives it's last ride this year, it might be related to the 2020 project.
  14. I recall at one point, they would close the park down at 6, and then re-open at 7 for FearFest. I think they did the normal closing procedure with security forcing people to the exits. I also recall them shutting rides down earlier than 6 if they had long lines. I remember doing this at least at one point back in 2004.
  15. The two different Haunts centered around the Eiffel Tower, The Freezer, and the one on the observation deck, were the two greatest Haunts the island has had, in my opinion. A close 3rd is Route 666.
  16. It's a case by case basis. They recommend 13, but it's up to you to decide what is appropriate for your child.
  17. If you ever rode it, you would never wish that pain on anyone ever again. Also, the capacity was atrocious.
  18. The International workers are still in town. I saw many of them boarding shuttles at the Super 8 on Kings Mills last Friday and I've seen them walking around during lunch breaks, so I'm thinking some have stayed for the fall.
  19. As long as it isn't Elvira's Superstition.... or Dracula's Haunted Castle *shivers*.
  20. Rides have lock out areas, that employees, guests, etc are not supposed to be in. I am not familiar with Mystic Timbers, but I would assume that the Shed is one of these areas. I'm not sure what the rules on Route 666 were when it was open, but I wouldn't be surprised to see it return with Tiques next year.
  21. The problem with doing things like this on rides is the safety factor. It would be very difficult to have scareactors in the shed and still maintain ride safety.
  22. Carowinds is a really cool park, my wife and I visited last summer. Charlotte is a beautiful city as well. Would highly recommend.
  23. Looks awesome. Also, it isn't a robotic snake, it's supposed to be a moonshine still. I love the roll right out of the station. This is more like what Backlot should have been.
  24. Which comes back to paying people.
