  1. Anyone have an idea how it would work for children under 42 inches? Do you think I would have to buy a guest ticket. (I HOPE I will not have to buy one since he will not be able to do any of the ERT rides and he already has a season pass.) Anyone have an answer?
  2. I feel like i'm watching an old Bewitched episode...you know what I mean Darwood?
  3. First is first...that's why the park is not auctioning off chances to be the first to ride on the SECOND day of Diamondback's operation...it's just not the same.
  4. (Yes it's stupid...but I was bored...and whenever I see these seats this is what I think of.)
  5. Most of my friends switched over to digital a couple of years before I did...I thought like you did...I was totally happy with film...but once I made the switch I could kick myself for not doing it sooner. The advantages are immense. *I can take over a thousand pictures without ever having to change film. (Which means that I take a ton of shots that I never could afford to do with film...I constantly think of all of the great shots I would have if digital was around my whole life.) *I do not have to buy film...or worry about how much I might need for a trip...I remember the heartache of running out on a trip and missing a great shot that is now forever lost. *I do not have to carry 5 or 6 rolls around. *I do not have to keep the film out of the heat on summer days. *I do not have to worry if the photolab loses a roll...which it did twice to me in the past. * I can see instantly if I got the shot or not...or just take a few multiples and pick the best one later. *I can tweak & crop my photos on the computer...instead of just getting the exact shot that I took with my film camera. As for your print quality being better statement... I would think that also depends on how nice of a digital camera that you own...just like film cameras there are good ones and bad. I can see where digital photos may be TOO sharp for some peoples tastes...kind of like the old "compact discs do not have as "warm" of a sound as albums" debate. (After I was a digital convert) I had a professional photo developer (who had been around for over 25 years) also debate me that digital is no where near as good as film...he had the same arguments that I had just a few years earlier...but I had come to see were not true. I have loved photography all of my life...but I was never able to get some of the clarity that I do now...or at least so effortlessly. (As a side note, he later went out of business because he would not recognize digital.) I do not understand your "longer lasting" comment...is it because you mean that you have a physical negative in your possesion? If that is the case, I would debate that being digital can actually be safer. A "film person" (usually) only has 1 negative...if the negative is damaged or lost it is gone. A "digital person" can have back-up copies in a variety of places for "insurance" easily. (Personally, my photos are backed-up on 2-3 different computers, 1 hosting site and then a CD for an actual "real" copy.) I feel pretty safe. I do not mean this as a lecture...I am HONESTLY just trying to save you & anyone else from having the regrets I now have. So, I say to you at least borrow someone's digital camera for a while...I think you will be won over...it may not happen within' a week or two...but after you go on a big trip and see how easy life can be with digital I think you will be hooked. If nothing else, add a digital camera to your arsenal. I realize that there are also some flaws with digital photography...but I have learned to overcome some of the flaws and feel that the many positives greatly outweigh the few negatives. (No pun intended!) P.S. gigacoaster2k, sorry for hijacking this thread.
  6. You hit the nail right on the head...I agree completely...but I doubt any of the kids will...it's kinda like alcoholics...they can't see they have a problem but everyone else can!
  7. I'm surprised how little love Spongebob seems to get...I am an old-school Looney Tunes/Warner Bros. cartoon fanatic...and I think Spongebob is the only cartoon that has been created in the last 20 years I have seen that truly compares. (The Simpsons, Family Guy do not count because they are geared towards an older audience.) Both Bugs Bunny & Spongebob work on 2 different levels...one for kids & one for adults. I wish the ride could have lasted one more time...my nephew would have been tall enough to actually ride it this year...he and I have sat through it several times down front...he has just been waiting until he could sit in the "big boy seats".
  8. You should have had a few people take there shoes off during the tour (before it started raining) and taken another one of your "sock photos" and claimed that the park made everyone take their shoes off while they were walking through the construction area...I think a few people would have believed it for a minute! I think that's a plus...it's kind of like tattoos...you gotta know when to say when...if you get to the point where you know EVERYTHING about a coaster I think it ruins the fun. I know how you feel...it's almost like I want to put this as my signature on my trip reports...but fear not, you DO take nice photos. I hope your back gets better real soon...and thanks for taking the time (and enduring the pain) to post this report!
  9. Matt, I kind of thought I was the king of being a long-time member who hardly posts…but you make me look like I am The Interpreter! I can not believe that you have been a member since 2005 and you have only posted 9 times. (Yes Mrs. Bueller, NINE times!) Your photos are so good I thought you would have been doing photo trip reports all of this time instead of lurking…do you not visit the park that often…or do you just have more of a “real” life?! I especially liked this shot of yours: Thanks for sharing your photos!
  10. Zach, I am so glad you made it for the make-up tour….not only so you would have fun…but so I could read another one of your trip reports! You took some very good shots…as usual. The close-up shots of the trains were cool. I especially liked these two shots: Like The Interpreter has already mentioned, your captions are a lot of fun to read…being a Simpsons’ fan I liked the “Mmm....captions” caption! Keep up the great work. See ya, J.D. P.S. What, no shot of you in your report?! You almost seemed to be doing a me that day…I have read all of the trip reports and looked at the photos…and I haven’t noticed you in any of them…except for possibly one lone shot of your back. P.P.S. I haven’t noticed anyone mentioning it…but about how many people were there attending the event?
  11. It is amazing…you guys have actually made the Diamondback tour seem like no more than a warm-up to what was the main event! After seeing all of the fun you guys had AFTERWORDS I am sorry I didn’t make the trek after all. I am shocked that anything could top walking around in Kings Island in the dead of winter, but you guys certainly make it seem like the post-events were even better than the “main” event! Ronny, needless to say, your photos are always as good as I have come to expect…and that is not to take anything away from you Jesse…your photos captured the fun side of the event perfectly. Thanks again for the great report!
  12. Thanks for the fun trip report! I liked the snow photos...they were the ones that made me really jealous of you that I didn't attend! I do have one question...you are talking about Diamondback...right?!
  13. WOW! What a great PTR…you captured not only Diamondback but lots of cool park stuff too…just what I would have liked to have scene in person…but I do feel like I was there now too! Here are a couple of your photos that I had comments about: Another case of some trees that didn’t look like they HAD to be removed…and judging by their location they would have provided some great shade for not only the people in line, but for anyone sitting under them just watching the ride going up the hill. Thanks for throwing in the Wings signs going bye-bye…the name lasted longer than I thought it would…this fact was the most interesting one that I have heard mentioned so far. I would LOVE to know the story behind this accident…I bet someone was not happy that day. As cold as it looks you “guys” look like you are having a LOT of fun. I think it is great how you added to the tour with the extra stuff to make the trip truly a memorable one. This shot is awesome! Thanks for posting such a great report!
  14. Some very nice photos...thanks for sharing. (I especially like the shots you took of the tower.)
  15. Thanks for sharing the photos...it's a nice first trip report. What time did you start touring the park...I started watching the webcam steady at about 2:00...but I never noticed you guys near Wings.
  16. I hope you know I didn't mean anything bad by my comment...it's just that you made quite an impression on me at the last get-together...it was somewhere between "This guy is crazy" and "He's more of a man than I am!" I hope I didn't offend you.
  17. Thanks! I am shocked that you didn’t make it…I thought you being there was a given. That’s nice! I can’t wait for your TR…especially since I know I CAN’T be in it this time!
  18. This is probably the first trip report filed by someone who didn’t go anywhere. (But I figured that some of you lucky people would like to see the web cam shots of you there.) By making the decision not to make the long trek back for this…I had hoped that by me NOT going that it might help you guys have a little better luck with the weather! Even though I was not going, it didn’t mean I wasn’t excited…I kept checking the weather for Mason all week…seeing how it was shaping up. It was odd how many times it went from good to bad then back again. On the morning of the event it was looking a little shaky…especially since it was snowing where I am at…and it looked to be heading towards Ohio…it was just a question of how fast I thought. This is how the weather looked about half an hour before the tour: And about 2 o’clock: It was about 10 after when I noticed it was raining: I wondered if the rain had cancelled the tour…but I kept watching the webcam…at 2:26 I had my first sighting…you guys made it! I can’t say as I can make any of you out…I am curious though, did PhantomTheater wear shorts again? (I was happy for you…and myself since I knew that meant lots of TR photos.) If you look real close you can see you guys in this shot. I didn’t know it at the time, but this turned out to be the last time I saw you guys. I looked at the weather map…it was not looking good: I kept watching the web cam…but things seemed to only be getting worse: Looking at this shot, it’s obvious you just barely beat the weather: I hope everyone had a good time…I was planning on getting web cam shots of you guys everywhere…but I guess it wasn’t meant to be.
  19. I am not coming this time...but I will be near a computer looking for all of you. If any of you high-tech guys want to PM when you are on your way out for the tour I could tell you when you are in a webcam shot...I would say the only real chance would be the shot near The Beast entrance area. (I have my fingers crossed that the snow and rain keep away from you.)
  20. Thanks for the nice report...I feel warm all over! I hope he is eventually able to make a living doing what he actually enjoys...and is good at...something that most of us are not lucky enough to do. See ya, J.D. (By the way, I noticed the white cargo van in one of your shots.)
  21. Gee...and we thought $499.00 was high...now it has been relisted at $675.00. (I think we now know where the one person lives who hasn't heard that the country is in a recession!) http://cgi.ebay.com/Coney-Kings-Island-Amu...%3A1%7C294%3A50
  22. ^I chose the KICentral.com one. (By the way, I like your new signature/image iChase)
  23. Judging by the cinematography of this video I am guessing the creator went on to film this year's very successful “John Adams” HBO mini-series.
