  1. Youre totally right. They run on 480. Even most if not all of the trash compactors run on 480. Tomb Raider, Delirium and Avatar all use electric motors to get them moving - and use enormous amounts of power. I believe the two biggest power hogs in the park however are Flight of Fear and Drop Zone. I heard somewhere that Flight of Fear uses 5 megawatts of power per launch - but don't know accurate that is. Either way - its an enormous amount of power - a need that solar power could never fill.
  2. Make sure you specify what part of the Train experience thats bad. I say this because those guys kill themselves to keep the train running better than the day before, but its not there responsibility for the theaming around it. I agree - I think hes talking about the western town (Frontier Town anyone???) that the train goes through. The train itself is in great shape - and steam train operation and maintenence really is a lost art that very few people can do these days. They do a great job. Vortex needs its station and queuehouse totally repainted and refurbished. It looks like they started it back in June - but never finished it. Troika needs a new paint job. The rides need hinged one way exit gates at the end of all exit ramps. Racer needs paint - at least the tunnel anyways. IJST and TRTR need to be dethemed.
  3. Oh yeah I know. Its good advice. The times I put my foot through the track was me looking at something else while checking bars and not paying attention. The time I tripped over the transfer track - that was just me being a dumbass... You can't ever let it get routine - and it is very easy to let checking bars become routine.
  4. Aren't they like two berries? The one at Port Aventura is more of a floorless type coaster. The seats do not flip - they are just out to the side.
  5. Hmm... TWICE I have put my foot between the station platform and the train. That hurts BAD and leaves a huge bruise. I tripped over the transfer track early this year - and got a big ol' bruise that even to this day has left a hard-as-a-rock spot on the front of my leg. I was walking tracks one time, and slipped down that hill that runs under Vortex first hill, and rolled all the way down getting scratched up and grass stains all over me. While crossing under FOFs station to go to dual launch, I got poked in the arm by the fence. Oh and the best one ever... While working Monster, these people asked me to spin their pod. I spun it, trying to be a badass, and the pod handle came around and RIPPED MY SHORTS RIGHT OFF!!!!! That was really embarassing - though fortunately I was not the only person that happened to that week.
  6. I actually think that Son of Beasts structure looks awesome. If they put the Millennium Force lights on it - it would look great - as opposed to now. Right now its totally dark, and you can see the lift hill lights every 20 feet or whatever they are.
  7. The new OTSRs ARE lap bars - they just connect over the shoulder instead of between the legs. They restrain you by pushing down on your thighs. The over the shoulder part does not even touch you though. So they are still lap bars - but they just connect over the shoulder, which is safer, and less restrictive to some guests of unusual body proportions.
  8. Oh thats awesome! M Force Tower! One of the things that really made me think Cedar Point was such an awesome park was that as I was leaving the park, after an amazing day (and I didn't even ride their star attractions) - I turned around to see the whole park lit up. Its like looking at a sculpture in light and steel. Kings Island is ugly. Maybe they'll fix that - but they'll need to do something about the lack of skyline at Kings Island.
  9. Oh yeah - I think Voyage is more intense than Flight of Fear even!
  10. Its almost 6 years though. My calculator washed away in the flood of 28.
  11. Plus regular PTCs won't fit on it. However Intamin trains will... There is a coaster in Germany that used to have Intamin trains on it, but they were switched for Premier trains - only God knows why. Anyways knowing Cedar Fair and how giddy they are over Intamin - I wonder if they would put Intatrains on Son of Beast. Or would it even make a difference?
  12. Did anybody read the cowboy slang on The Offical Renegade Page on Valleyfair!'s site? "For an American Coaster Enthusiast, riding Renegade is like lickin’ butter off a knife (something that’s easy)"
  13. Ill say it one more time. Just because the capital expendature is the same - does not mean that what the expendature is being spent on is the same. It just means that Cedar Fair is going to spend what Paramount budgeted for next year. They may have had a ride in mind - but may have had to spend that money on rehabbing Son of Beast - AGAIN. 7th try's a charm?
  14. I don't see whats so wrong with a Game Day Grill. I'm not into sports, but I can see it from that perspective. Say the family wants to go to the park on Sunday - but dad wants to watch the game. This way the whole family can go to the park, and be together - and eat their meal at the restaurant, and then mom and the kids can go over to kiddie land for a while or whatever, and dad can watch some more of the game. That way everyone wins - except for the losing team in whatever sports theyre showing. Plus right now theres nothing in the Festhaus really. Theres a pizza place and a bunch of empty tables - oh and a DDR machine. It would be cool to have some kind of restaurant there that people could talk about. I agree with Combat - it was cool to see REAL restaurants at Cedar Point. Not some food stand like RPW or Skyline or whatever - but a place where you could sit down, relax and eat. Alien Seed from PKIC and myself ate lunch at Johnny Rockets on Cedar Point's opening day. The food was great, the service was outstanding - and it was fun to watch my favorite roller coaster ever - Raptor.
  15. It's not like HUGE news to the news companies. It is to us - but to them - the ride breaking down makes for better stories than the ride getting fixed.
  16. The only Fearfest attraction I have ever done is Elvira Superstition. And by done - I mean I drove (ran the control panel) for the ride one night during Fear Fest since I was a driver there. It didn't scare me too bad - it was kind of cool actually.
  17. There isn't any evidence of this on any news or theme park industry website.
  18. Another big difference. Italian Job hypes you up cause it looks cool - but then fails to deliver. Maverick - even if it wasn't themed - would still be a great ride.
  19. That last day is really a last ditch effort to get rid of merchandise and make any last money they can. But it is still nice to have that "finale" to the year. I'll live. I mean I haven't even been on any rides at Kings Island for like a month and a half - since every time I go up the lines are insane. Lately I have been having alot of fun taking photos with my super duper SLR camera. One guest even asked me why I was taking pics and not riding - and she couldn't comprehend that Ive been up there so much riding the rides is like second nature. I've only used my Gold Pass 13 times this year - so hopefully I will get some more use out of it in October. But I still plan on cutting out before FearFest starts - and will most likely go up on Sundays - as it is Nick or Treat (be very careful in the pronunciation of that!).
  20. One thing about Dane - he definately knows his stuff. Glad to hear theyre keeping the server up to date and everything.
  21. Well I voted "yes, YES" but I decided not to. I want to give new people a chance to play. But still - at the time I post this there are 19 yes votes so you still have 18 that want to play.
  22. The shoulder parts of the OTSRs on Maverick don't touch you. Its still a lap bar - but instead of connecting to the floor between your feet, it connects at two points over the shoulder. It is alot nicer to the bigger folks among us.
