Coronavirus Impacting Theme Parks
Aaron88stang replied to Hawaiian Coasters 325's topic in Kings Island
Has anyone put together a list of ride capacity/operations changes due to social distancing requirements? I did a quick search and could not find it myself. -

Aaron88stang replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I got reservations for the 7th. I am hoping for a very light crowd so I can get a ride in on Orion. -

My Grandmother always kept plastic butter containers because of her experience with the Great Depression. You never knew whether you were opening up butter or something else entirely. -

Robb Alvey Retiring

I was a Club TPR member but they are not currently accepting renewals or new members...not sure why, been like that for a while. I joined that particular club not because of anything to do with Robb, they just had the right balance of price vs perks for me at the time. With the current situation with the virus I don't feel like I need a club membership now anyway because who knows what events will actually happen this year now. -
yes a Raptor would be very nice.

Robb Alvey Retiring
Aaron88stang replied to ThrillKingsFitzy's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Last time I remember Robb being at KI was Banshee media day. If you really want to see some comedy, join his Retro Games Fan group on Facebook. He has some pretty strict guidelines to keep the content of a certain quality. If you do not abide he simply deletes your post. The real fun begins after said post is deleted the person chimes in with an ugly response to the deletion. I know a lot of folks don't like him, but my interactions with Robb have always been pleasant and I and lots of the other members of that group get a real kick out of him going at it with idiots that do not abide by the rules and talk trash. -
I will be getting these for sure. I have Beast, Diamondback and Banshee. Did Mystic Timbers get a model?

Thank you for the report. I am hoping to make it out to KK before the end of the month to check this out for myself.

That lift hill and drop was a thing of beauty. I also loved how you would see the loop right as the train left the station.

A maintenance issue perhaps but ridership would not be the issue based on what I experienced. It was close to an hour wait.

I do not understand the logic on removing the rapids ride. When I went a couple summers ago it was super hot and the line for the rapids ride was the longest one we waited in all day. This makes no sense. If it was immediately being replaced by another water ride with high capacity it would be ok but removing all the water rides in a park in the south is dumb.

I would not say Hurler was the worst I have ridden but it is certainly a LOT less forceful that Thunder Run. When I rode a couple years ago it was at least much smoother than the KD one.

Fair board has ordered construction on Kentucky Flyer halted. They are claiming KK does not have rights to the land. link to press conference below. https://www.facebook.com/wave3news/videos/2163259197246669/UzpfSTE1MDU4NDQyNDk3NTczODoyMTQzNDM3NzQyMzU3MDUz/

Dorney Park is removing Stinger
Aaron88stang replied to jcgoble3's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I doubt it. KI doesn't really need the land Invertigo is sitting on for expansion. -
I am pretty sure it was below 45 at the beginning of Banshee's media day. Bur that was a cold morning.

Cedar Point changes for 2018
Aaron88stang replied to Creed Bratton's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I am glad they are opening up the beach and extending the boardwalk. I am surprised the stadium wasn't demolished sooner. -
Yes but they are not close enough that they are going to destroy one another. KK has probably hurt HW way more than it could KI but in general competition is almost always a good thing for us consumers.
-
We now have a healthy KK to put pressure on KI to invest more now too.

Cedar Fair Renews Peanuts License
Aaron88stang replied to KIBeast's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Peanuts are timeless characters that have been loved for generations. The Nick stuff and most of the Hanna Barbara characters just don't have the staying power (Scooby Doo excluded of course). I think the Peanuts are every bit as relevant as the Looney Tunes characters at Six Flags. -

Such a simple move that means so much to so many. Thanks KI.
