  1. ^malem and I have a giant message thread (by giant, I mean we're on 16 pages now) between each other titled 'Holiwood Nights' back from when I was contemplating going either last year or the year before and 95% of the message thread is not about HWN except recently while we're getting plans to go this weekend.
  2. Maverick was made by Intamin and Copperhead Strike was made by Mack. If you want a good site that helps explains types and manufactures- RCDB.com
  3. I have a question with the ease at which parks' blueprints can be obtained- why don't parks announce right after they file the blueprints?
  4. I distinctly remember this exact conversation around Banshee's construction that they somehow wouldn't surpass Raptor despite Raptor being one of the smaller B&M inverts, and, IMO, Banshee is much better than Raptor. Also, as nice as MF is in terms of ride experience, I think B&M can greatly improve upon it even if our giga in question is short on some stats comparatively speaking.
  5. I think at this point, no one would really shed a tear if this park went under.
  6. Holidays are really hit or miss. I've been to the park on July 4th a bunch of times with pretty lax crowds.
  7. Paramount did produce a few MCU movies before Emperor Mouse acquired Marvel...
  8. I would like to point out that they can open the Blue side and not the Red side as the Blue side was the forwards side when the Red side was recaR and they usually opened the backwards side later in the day.
  9. To be fair, the turn around does kind of look like an inclined dive loop/Immelman. It'd be cool if that turn around had some sort of ridiculous banking to it.
  10. He also pegged Diamondback as a dive coaster based entirely on the splash construction.
  11. I thought of a good record if terrain is playing a role in this- how about the most drops over 200 ft?
  12. I think the average park goer wants more than a one trick pony kind of coaster. Sure, TTD and Kindga Ka were big back in the day, but I feel tastes have changed especially with the likes of RMC and Mack being more inventive with element designs and having more meat in a layout and theming is more of a thing people want/expect. With the price you'd pay for a TTD clone, you could get a few other rides combined, basically boiling down to ROI. Intamin has so far been the only manufacture to even think about going 400 ft and not many are willing to go with them, though they are very slowly coming back. And I simply don't see the others trying to go for it.
  13. I don't think we'll see a coaster topping 400 ft again for a while, if ever.
  14. One thing I've been noticing about the school groups in terms of cutting is that they'll have a small group get in the line and the larger part of the group will show up later and move in. I saw a heavy dose of that on the Friday of Coasterstock, both in food lines and ride lines.
  15. ^That's not Photoshopped?
  16. I just thought of a use for the old fountain pedestals- extend the lazy river in Soak City and make a near replica to pass by.
  17. ^Which is your excuse to be able to swim in them. #nextlevelfountainert
  18. ^^I know that, but it'd be a fun way to rename it IMO. Even if it isn't renamed, Flight of Fear has a good story line to play off of. I'm not sure we'd get a full fledged video for the new one like FoF, but with how Mystic Timbers was handled, there are certainly creative ways to do it.
  19. With the rumor that Flight of Fear being renamed, could we see some sort of joint combined theming between the 2? Maybe something that let's them play off one another?
  20. I believe that post just gave pianoman a new goal in life.
  21. With SOB hype and construction going on while they debuted.
  22. I honestly hope after this, KI moves away from building new coasters at the rate they've been. I'd like to see some more creative flats or a decent dark ride, spruce up the non-coaster line up.
  23. Does anything confirm what the building is between FoF and Racer?
  24. Good to see the River City Band back in action.
  25. I remember early 90's KI, but mostly HB Land. I don't think I ever rode the monorail or ventured much in the adult side unless it was watching my dad ride King Cobra and Vortex. I got scared on a few of the rides, like Beastie and Enchanted Voyage. Really didn't like coasters and dark rides for a while in the early days. Riding the KIMVRR made up for it and I could handle both the log flumes a-okay. A lot of good memories on the original Tiques as well. Beast was incredibly horrific to me on my first ride as I got taller and I also didn't take a liking to Adventure Express. I also was iffy on Racer (both woodies still had buzz bars at that time), though I made it okay and I only rode forwards at first. Then I discovered Top Gun. I was hooked instantly and I eventually conquered my fears of the other big coasters. I got my first Vortex ride and first Beast night ride (which was my 2nd ride overall on Beast) back to back on one of the 11 pm closings during the PKI days. That was easily my favorite KI visit. Back in those days since there were less rides, The Vortex queue would stretch past Dodgems and Beast would wind its way past the Rivertown side of Tiques (about as far back as the Backlot launch track). Flight of Fear was routinely 90 minutes-2 hours long. KC had quite the waits, too. I also miss the Cool Zone in The Beast queue.
