  1. How else are you going to get around Firehawk? Flight of Fear blocks one way and the maintenance buildings block the other. The same access road that led many during prior Haunts to the Haunted Trail. If you look where the yellow line I drew starts on the left hand side of the photo, there is an access gate that leads to the maintenance roads that lead you behind Firehawk and to more access roads. Buildings wouldn't have to be necessarily moved, but the perimeter around them would have to be blocked better, like access gates to storage next to Racer.
  2. DrummerKid didn't ask about buildings, as there are none behind Firehawk.
  3. So reading their Facebook, there are several people who are pretty tiffed off that Greezed Lightning is being torn down. I understand the memories that were made on the coaster but many are over looking the whole fact that the ride was determined to not be on the rehab list due to the fact that it is beyond repair. Why would they save the ride to just sit there if they can't reopen it?
  4. I'd say 15 minutes to 25 minutes depending on your pace.
  5. There wasn't doubt about that. I was just giving a statement, it seems that at least once a year KI has a power surge that shuts down a portion of the park, not sure about Carowinds as I don't frequent that park or news about it. Just to double your point, at Kennywood when I visited, a portion of the park was closed for half of the day due to a power surge, so yes, these things happen.
  6. I unfortunately had a terrible experience at the Reds Grille on 7/1. Our server was wonderful.. Our food was terrible. We had 11 people at our table, 2 people ordered burgers, the rest had fried food. 4 of us had chicken tenders and fries, one had fish, etc. We received our food and I realized my chicken was a little bit dark, but hey, it may be the breading. Ate 1 tender and went to the 2nd...I noticed that it was extremely dry and thought so about the first. So I asked the others who had chicken tenders how their food was. They all said, the food is a bit dry. The one at our table who had fish noted that her fish was extremely dark in several spots. One in our group had a fried chicken salad or something of the sort (she was all the way at the other end of the table) she noted that her chicken was dry and the lettuce was dirty. One member of our group has been a manager at Bob Evans for 10-15 years and I've been working in the food industry since I was 15 for different companies and currently work for a company that only serves chicken. We both asked our server if we could have our food replaced with new fresh food. I at this point was frustrated and asked for a substitute of a piece of cake instead. About 20 minutes later, our food came back out and it was the same quality (minus my cake) that it was before. Both the Bob Evans manager and I asked to speak with the supervisor. He asked what the problem was so I picked up a tender and showed it to him, it was so dark brown, there were black spots all over it, it was dry on the inside, I brushed the finger with my hand and had tons of little crust remnants from the fryers fall into my hand and he didn't see any issue with that. I asked how long ago they changed their oil for their fryers. He told me that morning and that it was clean. I politely disagreed because of the training I've had with high volume fryers, I told him in my business we change oil in our fryers 3 times a day so our food is fresh, it doesn't discolor, or accumulate waste while cooking. He then argued with me that the fryers were cleaned that morning and that they were absolutely clean. I had advised him that I was going to speak with the department head of food and beverages, as I had previously spoke with him years ago. He then said that he couldn't do anything for us as that's how the food was to be prepared and served. Our group collectively decided we were done and as we were sitting their waiting for the server to talk to us, he came out of the back and told us that with the issues we had we weren't going to be charged. Before we left, I snapped a few pictures of the food to share with Gary (Department head) We got up and left while tipping the guy because it wasn't his fault. That evening, as we were ready to watch the fireworks in the International Restaurant, I saw Don and asked if Gary was up there. He pointed that he was in the other room. So I waited for him, had a great talk. He was very apologetic and definitely told me that the quality of food we got was not what is expected of that restaurant and he was going to take care of it. He asked me to email him the pictures I showed him. So it looks like he talked with the employees in the restaurant and got things straightened out by your stories above.
  7. KI also had a power issue yesterday (7/6) per http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php?/topic/27699-7613-park-power-outage/ It seems to me that once a year, there's a power surge or other issue.
  8. Since Lake Erie adjacent to Cedar Point's shore is navigable waters of the United States up to the ordinary high water mark, there would be permits required...permits not likely to be granted nowadays.Terp, who is not engaged in the private practice of law in Ohio, the District of Columbia, or any United State. Consult a competent attorney in your jurisdiction if you have, or think you may have, a legal problem. Results may vary in different bodies of water. Being a great lake, I did not figure that would happen otherwise we would have already seen a ride over the water! Just wondering, since they had rides in the lake before, the old swings that "inspired" WindSeeker were in the lake, as well as slides, don't the have ownership of certain areas around the peninsula?
  9. I laughed so hard when I heard that. It's not like he said he down right sh*t his pants. I meant sharted is close to farted, which most kids know what the later means so I don't think it's a huge deal.
  10. Shooting Star was demolished at Coney Island in 1971. Taft Broadcasting, talked John Allen out of retirement to build a roller coaster that'd be just as popular as the Shooting Star, which resulted in The Racer. There isn't a "racer boy" who died on or around Racer.
  11. The seats on Drop Tower are where they've always been, before and after the incident at Kentucky Kingdom.
  12. Correction: Second Sunday in June. Though it has only been on that date for two years; in 2011 it was in late July. So I would say to plan for June 8, 2014, but allow for the possibility that it may change. Oops! You are correct.
  13. Black Widow is great! Check out Ghostly Manor. The park is really great. Phantom's Revenge is pretty great! I enjoyed Exterminator and the Whip as well. Try to do as much as you can. The Racer was very cool, do both sides if you can. Thunderbolt, you must ride with another person. But major advice, just enjoy the park as much as you can. There's something about the park that makes it so great!
  14. I stood with the maintenance guys on the transfer track a few times at the end of the night. We were told we were unable to take the trains off Diamondback because of the open end on the back end of the transfer shed.
  15. The one that I can't get is the girls in the box.
  16. KI didn't tag that photo. Move your mouse over the tag and it'll show you who tagged it.
  17. Also, generally the event is held the first full weekend of June on the Sunday.
  18. I watched this show for the first time of the season yesterday. I laughed so hard! Ed was hilarious, there are still a few allusions that I can't figure out. I loved the intro video too!
  19. You are correct, rides with multiple trains must be put to bed by maintenance. The only one that I've seen with Ride Ops taking the train off was Beast, however, maintenance was there with them. Unfortunately, we were unable to transfer trains off of Diamondback.
  20. I'm so glad to see I'm not the only person who likes watching the unknown cameraman and adamthewoo! I love urban exploring!
  21. Unfortunately rides do close during rain only at the park, but there are other factors that go into that. It's not completely caused by the rain. Sometimes it's caused by lighting within a certain radius, so even though you didn't see any marks on the forecast on your phone, the park has a more powerful radar that checks things like that.
  22. Such an odd little park. I visited numerous times during my brief living situation in Phoenix. To me the weirdest park I've ever been to is a tie between Knoebels and Lakemont Parks. Not saying they're bad...it was just odd for me. I wasn't and still am not used to parks like those. Exotic: Uhm. the Columbus Zoo? I don't really know if I've actually been to an exotic park.
  23. I haven't either...by considering a ride a staple ride, I mean one that has a name that is memorable and many would miss if it was removed. In theory I think that is why you don't see dodgems, tilt-a whirl, scrambler (I don't know if the park even has these, but just using these as example) in releases.
