I've not really seen or heard anyone that has said that KI NEEDS a Giga coaster right now. Will the park collapse if it doesn't get one right away? It hasn't yet. When CW announced Leviathan, it was almost certain that some thought that KI was getting a B&M Giga the following year (this year). However, it didn't and the park is still standing. To answer your question, why does the park need a Giga right now? At this very moment, it doesn't. Does the park need a Giga? I'd say yes. Why? To complete the idea of reaching new heights for the park. B&M rides in general are people eaters, so why not do so with a coaster that reaches 300 feet? Or any height or style of coaster? But why a giga? Because the park can, B&M can make it, the Giga coaster for B&M is something still new, there can still be tweaks made from Leviathan's layout and building process.

Question, which park actually has every single type of coaster out there that fills up the coaster catalog? I don't understand the "in" thing because there were only 3 B&M hyper coasters that have opened between 2008-2010. One respectively for each year in the United States. Between the 2008 and now, I've seen more relocations of coasters and "new" types of coasters than constantly adding the same type of coaster throughout numerous parks. The new "in" thing is Wing Coasters because there were two that opened last year and one this year. So I guess that cancels out the inversions are no longer fun thought. In 2012, there was not a single Wooden Coaster that opened, so that wasn't the "in" thing, but this year, 3 have opened. Is that the new "in" thing? But to the comment of Hypers are no longer enough, how many parks can add a hyper? Should parks that already have a hyper add another? I seem to look at Canada's Wonderland that has a B&M Hyper and a B&M Giga and both attractions are doing just fine. I've got a few friends that visit that park frequently and both seem to have the same wait times generally. We've seen that the 300 foot mark hasn't curbed people for looking for more speed, height and airtime. Look at Top Thrill Dragster and Kingda Ka. They both have long lines generally. 400 ft plus. So I guess the question you're really asking is when is it enough. Well we won't know until we reach that point. Those who visit amusement parks tastes change constantly with the type/age/area of people. What was once thrilling in the 80s is no longer thrilling in 2013 generally. There are some rides that fit the category for some, but not for others. I guess I'm just frustrated with your post because you are speaking of the thoughts of all the coaster enthusiasts and "everyone." Me, do I want a Giga? Yes. Why? Because I think they are fun (I've only been on Intamin's), they give airtime and I love over-banked turns. Would I be happy if KI got an Inverted Coaster in 2014? Yes. Why? Because Inverts are fun. Would I be happy if KI got a coaster in 2014? Yes. Why? Because the park could benefit from any new coaster. Just because you've heard a certain number of enthusiasts or whatever that have said they want to get their "high" doesn't mean that everyone feels the same way. When talking about Coaster Enthusiasts remember you're talking about a lot of people on here and not everyone here feels the same way that you think all coaster enthusiasts feel.

I can tell you They doesn't include KIC members. I believe all the decisions are still made at 1 Cedar Point Drive, what else would Rob Decker, Corporate Vice President of Planning & Design do?
-
How about whatever KI gets is what KI gets. It's what they've determined they need not what anyone here on KIC thinks the park needs.

I can't stand the parks that use the seat belts as the primary restraint, but have a lap bar or OSTR. Millennium Force and TTD, depending on the seat, the seat belt is either long enough to have slack or almost too short for me to latch. I've gained a little bit of weight, but not to the point where I'm not able to ride a ride. I understand the seat belts need to be latched, but a ride op/host had a conversation with me earlier on Millennium Force and when I sit down the 2nd time I'm struggling to get my seat belt latched? Really?

Roller Coaster

About 76 feet. Both are made from the same company, one (Diamondback) is classified as a hyper coaster (200-299 feet tall) and one (Leviathan) is classified as a Giga Coaster (300-399 feet tall).

Dorney Park....Wallet Free
Creed Bratton replied to TheBEASTunchained's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I want to say I read something somewhere saying that Dorney was the test market for this program for Cedar Fair. I don't see myself using this. I don't feel comfortable going anywhere without my wallet, cards or identification. -
It'd be a better comparison if there were footers shown for both images, instead of footers with one and then an overhead view of a coaster.

The Most Ridiculous Thing a Ride Operator has told you.
Creed Bratton replied to Original's topic in Rumors
Speaking of Six Flags, I was at SFGadv and got on El Toro, well the ride attendant ended up stapling me mid-buckle of my seat belt, once I got it buckled, it was at a weird angle where the gold release buttons in the picture below were literally jammed in my stomach. I asked the attendant to release my restraint so I could fix the seat belt because it was giving me pain. When I asked, they said we can't release it you'll have to ride like that. Literally received the worst ride on El Toro, I couldn't enjoy it because I was so uncomfortable and ended up having a bit of a cut on my stomach where the button was. (TPR) -

Creed Bratton replied to Original's topic in Rumors
I had a ride op at Gatekeeper tell me I couldn't staple my friend in. I literally was assisting him on fastening his seat belt. I wasn't even pushing on the restraint even with a 1/4 of my strength. -
Maybe the new ride is WildCAT. Okay you guys made my night!
-
. Which hopefully is NOT where you were when taking the picture. No I know not to. But it was pulling dirt back and forth when I saw it. HAHA I really mis-read that as animal cat, not a CAT machine!

Silly Son of Baconator, it's not Christmas! Can't really tell, but is that a Banshee?!?
-
So where are the pictures?
-
Couldn't Leviathan been the start of a bargain shopping trip? Who says that Cedar Fair didn't push back this project a year because they wanted Gatekeeper to premier first and/or they didn't want an empty beach front sitting for too long?
-
It may have been built 6 years ago, but it's constantly going through changes and some (not a whole lot) of testing. Which will open first? Flying Turns, Kentucky Kingdom, or Voyage with Timberliners?

Is there a haunt that you'd love to see revamped? What is it? What to? I'd love to see Tombstone Terror-tory, revamped to something more camp ish.
-
I'm not a fan of Voyage (so sue me! haha) but I'd rather ride Mean Streak than Voyage.
-
Mean Streak isn't like SOB painful. I think a lot of people bash it just because that's what everyone else does. Especially if they haven't been on it in the past few years. Yeah there are point where it does hurt but it's not a pain that would keep you in pain the rest of the trip. Suggestion: sit in the front seat of the train.

Old news. Apparently it is new news with several people constantly talking about how they hope it's not a wing coaster, how this similarity to the track at the CSF shows that the coaster is somehow destined for KI and it's a wing coaster, etc. So, no not old news. To go back to back with Canada's Wonderland, we should have got it last year. Cedar Fair is doing something right to have continued support of their parks. So to call them inept is a bit funny.

Yes, Mr. Ouimet says that there are no wing coasters on his "menu" at this time. They will take things they learned from this experience and put them in other projects.
