  1. There's a difference in standards by the states. In Ohio, parks have to follow manufacturer guidelines. In Florida it's probably different. I understand your frustration though, it'd make much more sense if everything was across the board.
  2. Many here have spoken about the wall with the poster talking about being filmed, etc. Many here have talked about tweets that may be clues. I could also be talking about future clues. Who knows.
  3. MaXair seems to be having some problems as well. It went down early on 5/15 and didn't appear to start back up at all that day. It was down nearly all day, if not completely all day 5/16. It was going through test cycles as we were leaving Cedar Point at around 7pm. Being that CP isn't my home park, I haven't been many times, so I don't know how often breakdowns like this occur. Huss...that's is all.
  4. I'm going to go all Terpy on you all. What if all of the clues you've been given or have found are just a diversion? The similarities from the Original Beast sign to the signs we see on the fence....what if that's just a diversion? What if the clues aren't really clues at all?
  5. You can process your pass at any time the park is open now. If you plan on going to one of the shows, plan to be there early as the shows will reach capacity!
  6. Sorry to bring this topic up again, but yesterday (Tuesday) was 25 years since the accident. RIP to all of those who lost their lives.
  7. I took this as, we were going to build a coaster (different) and put it somewhere else in the park, but we challenged Rob to open up the beach view and front gate.....meaning he was challenged to change the idea of the original coaster to change it to be what we have as Gatekeeper today. In my opinion I don't think that Gatekeeper was the original idea for somewhere else in the park.
  8. To echo this, Opening Day was a nightmare on rides being open. I don't know how many times I saw WindSeeker with people on it one cycle, then several empty. By the time I left 7:30-8 ish, everything was shut down.
  9. I wish we could just create a thread for all of the "down" rides.
  10. Cedar Point's eventually did open for opening day. However, it was faced with numerous closures due to......wait for it........wind. There were a few times it wouldn't come to it's homing spot. It often rose a few feet before getting back to its homing spot. Very interesting. One note about the evacuation vehicle, it is located behind the former Oceana stadium (where All-Wheels Extreme is now located).
  11. Sigh. A diversion of sorts?!? ;-)
  12. I really enjoy Gatekeeper. I'm an average sized guy. Didn't have any issues with the restraints. The ride is great, not a parking lot coaster and is overall beautiful! As for the claim of the wait being about an hour around 10:30ish the night before, was total BS. I literally arrived at the park at 12:30 Thursday morning, was the 3rd car waiting to be allowed to park by the front gate. The line at most (taking out the fact that sometimes it took 10 minutes to reset media things avg) 20 minutes. OSU day line wasn't too bad either.
  13. Cedar Point's didn't open to the public at all today (OSU Day). Here's to hoping it's open tomorrow.
  14. Media Day is a terrible judge for a dispatch times. Though some may have seen 2 trains on the brakes, that's not a constant occurrence. Think about how many times you have all three Diamondback trains in the same area. Things happen to prevent dispatch from happening when people think they should go. In the case of Gatekeeper, dispatch times could have been prevented on media day, due to changing of the cameras for the on-ride videos, switching media out, etc. However, I will tell you that today, I only rode Gatekeeper once (in the morning) but passed it several times, the line wasn't too incredibly long. The coaster is a people eater, with 3 trains carrying 32 people each time (hopefully). There is a lot of queue so just sight can be deceiving from the midway.
  15. Part of what I heard from someone in the know, who may or may not be on this site, is that Son of Beast was tore down, due to complaints about noise from Great Wolf Lodge and the area it covered is going to be turned into an all new campground.
  16. Parks who have Ziplines (Dollywood) have them as an upcharge. I think KI has enough upcharge attractions.
  17. I could go for a ride similar to Skyrush, however the restraints would need changed. I rode after they were "changed" as well, a little more padding from what I understand. The padding didn't help. I've got medium size thighs and it just hurt. As a few have said, I doubt that KI would get a wing-rider the year after Cedar Point (the flagship park of the company and let's face it the state) got one. Some have said history repeats itself. Going on with that thought, KI would get a Giga per Wonderland getting a giga. But then again, who really knows aside from the park. Anything at this point is pure speculation.
  18. Talk about an opening of a ride! Edit: What other ways have you seen a ride opening happen? If there are any videos that surprised you post them here too!
  19. Spoke with violakat03 just a few minutes ago and she hasn't seen Pat while visiting the park today.
  20. Thank you for your insight McSalsa! So many conflicting "claims" from various "in-the-know staff" and teasers, etc.
  21. Thanks for sharing. I need to visit The Beach this year I think!
  22. Didn't the park say the tower was actually 301' at some point? I seem to remember that, but not sure where that was.
  23. The whole argument about Flight Deck being so far out of the way makes me laugh a bit. Especially when SOB was SBNO, I'd hear: "there's nothing back here but Flight Deck, the walk seems so much longer since Son of Beast isn't operating anymore!" "They should move the ride over so we don't have to walk back that far." Now tell me this, when the ride opened in 1993, other than the Lion County Safari, there wasn't anything else back there correct? So when LCS was removed, there still wasn't anything back there right? So from 1994-1999, the walk to Flight Deck was still the same as it is today, essentially (minus themeing/trees/bushes/etc.) but the distance is the same. So what's the difference between then and now? I know that Flight Deck isn't the biggest thrill in the park, but it's still a good coaster. So the fact that the coaster isn't worth the walk back there anymore kind of makes me curious...is it the ride...or is it the walk? /Random Ponderings.
  24. On windshawne's note about the blinds that is hilarious by the way, Further supporting jcgoble3's claim: To which I ask, how high does the ride "gondola" actually rise to? How high are the riders actually off the ground at that point? The way that the promos/commercials made it look, it made the riders look to be at 301 feet, not whatever they actually are. As you see the gondola rise in the promo, the word 301 Feet rise with it, giving the impression that the riders are going to 301 feet. http://youtu.be/ZALCgXCW_Bc?t=8s Anyway, YAY to it being back open!
  25. I assume that the WindSeeker cam is in part maintenanced by the news station that carries the feed. Why it's not up, who knows? The area under "construction" is not viewable from that angle.
