  1. Ed Hart is a smart man. I hope he realizes two water rides, a wooden roller coaster, and a Ferris Wheel won't draw people to the dry park. To me, it sounds like he needs to market the park the best he can to break even. It's a marketing thing, I believe, that you give put some staple rides in the release instead of listing every single thing that's going to operating.
  2. There were four employees checking restraints. That should speed things up but there was no sense or urgency. Just went back and re-read things. If there are only 4 employees checking restraints, they are understaffed. There are a total of 6 people that should be checking restraints. It's been that way since opening.
  3. Are you talking this season or in it's life? Either way, at least their is life in it. I mean, we could possibly see that Flying Turns opens before the Voyage gets Timberliners.
  4. Flying Turns tested today! http://www.allamericanthrills.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=765&p=6422#p6422
  5. While signs point to a coaster being bought or a portable coaster and the cost, why is this unlikely?
  6. Why do you say this? Remember Gatekeeper was built in a smaller amount of days than Kentucky Kingdom has until opening day. It's very possible, unless it's an Intamin...then it could be open at some time after the park is open! lol
  7. I hope it's successful. I'm more than excited about visiting Kentucky Kingdom for the first time. I know that some think this park is going to fail, but Rome wasn't built in a day, let the man make his attempt at rebuilding the park before you say it's going to close by 201_.
  8. Not trying to be a jerk about it, but what's a 500' rocket? There is no such classification as a rocket coaster when it comes to height. If you are talking about how it "rockets off" I'd have to say that it's a launch coaster.
  9. Now kids who need a break go take a smoke break. Although some take smoke breaks throughout the park.
  10. I just find this odd that the OP posted this at 8:20ish last night...last sign on was at 11 pm last night and not a reply or other post made. If I was trying to seek advice on such a case of what to do, get my story out there, I'd be engaging in conversation especially if it deals with stolen items. Something to me about this doesn't seem right.
  11. So like this coming Monday, what do people think the crowds will be like?
  12. How many people have visited the park during the week of the 4th of July...how are the crowds?
  13. Best speculation on all 151 pages so far!!!
  14. Ugh. Not every inch of park space needs covered with rides, games, buildings, pavers, cigarette smoke, concrete or asphalt. Green space is important. I, for one, miss Swan Lake. I miss a nice, quiet, bucolic, cigarette free Paramount Story aka Tower Gardens. I 100% agree Terp. I love rides and wish the park had more of them, but I also know that green space is important. That's the one thing I dislike about Cedar Point, there isn't a whole lot of green spaces, if at all.
  15. I can honestly say I agree with you on this one. Well this whole thing. Raven doesn't need Timberliners. Legend would do well with them and I don't understand the lack of love either. It's my favorite in the park too.
  16. The 4th of July is known to be an extremely busy day. Most people have the day off of work and I've seen the parking lot completely full on this day.
  17. Dane, I do not see the replies or "Under Review." Where would these be?
  18. Yes, the fountains got refurbished in 2003. By definition, refurbished basically means spruced up, brought to a like new state, upgraded in technology (computer programming for the fountains). So yes, the fountains were made to be like new, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the fountains were made brand new so the age of the fountains would be only 10 years old at this point. I'm sure the foundation and base of the fountains is still the same as they were in 1972. I'm sure some of the fixtures are still the same, but may have gotten a fresh coat of paint in the refurbishment. The picture below is from 1972 Picture below is from the Paramount Years. http://KICentral.com/photos/albums/userpics/10001/sidefountain.jpg
  19. How dare you speak up? PS did you see the intamin track on 71? Haha, but yes I agree. I know the answer usually is report user, but how many times do we have to do this?
  20. I'm fairly certain that the fountains are on an automated program from a computer. I can't imagine someone flipping switches that often to change the effects and colors. I think where the video that everyone is talking about was shot at was right next to a speaker. The fountains at Wonderland before Snoopy's Starlight Spectacular were just as serene as KI's during the day. I guess I don't understand what you mean by a fountain show similar to CW's would take away from International Street? Hasn't that feel been gone for quite a while with the fences being added, trees being removed/planted, seating including tables, music that no longer represents an International Street and Halloween? Please don't take me as attacking your thoughts and concerns, I'm just trying to understand. The concerns I have with the current fountains are that some of the fixtures are now over 40 years old and are in need of replacement, but I don't know if there's a company that still makes pieces like what we have. The technology has evolved a ton for fountains. In my opinion, I think the style of display at Canada's Wonderland is something that should come to KI, maybe not the same music, but that type of show. As someone said elsewhere, unfortunately we do not have a mountain to project images on, but we have a Tower that can be used to assist.
  21. I leave you with this quote: http://www.toledoblade.com/local/2012/04/01/New-Cedar-Fair-CEO-has-fresh-outlook-on-fun.html You no longer see the glory of the fountains as you did when the park first opened. I think an upgrade is necessary. How many people just walk by the fountains and continue on? How many see the fountains and stop in wonder? I think an upgrade would be respecting the history of the park instead of keeping them in their current state, that may lead them to not being here in 20 or 30 years. I've noticed that many KI enthusiasts tend to fear and hate change at the park. Sometimes change is necessary and when things change, they're not always bad changes.
  22. Terp, you know someone would take that literally and post it until you tell them to stop right?
