  1. I honestly can't tell you the last time I went to a Burger King. But back on topic, I honestly can't tell you the last time I had an issue at Kings Island with food service. There has been minor inconveniences sure (waits trying to get checked out or people jumping in front of me to get a drink at Chicken Shack)...but not to the point where I would refuse to get a meal plan and/or to visit the food locations. Out of my visits to Cedar Fair parks in the lasts year and other parks, Cedar Fair has been on the top of my food experiences. I'd say the most issues I've had with food service at a Cedar Fair park would have to be at Cedar Point, mostly waiting for my food to arrive (90% of the time at Frontier Inn (rip) and 10% of the time at Coasters).
  2. But you have to wait at least 12 hours before getting your order at BK
  3. The POS systems are in need of an upgrade.....having to stand in line with my food while it's getting cold so they can select my meal plan and then the POS system goes back to the normal screen in which they have to select the drink plan and then they have to go to close out the transaction is painful. Having worked on Micros for some time, it's not a user friendly system nor is it efficient.
  4. After eating at Mac Bowl at Kings Dominion this past weekend, I'm really really really hoping there will be a place for a Mac and Cheese bar. So good!
  5. I remember reading something here or another article that said Drop Tower was originally planned for that spot...but soil samples showed the spot couldn't support a ride of that caliber. I'll attempt to find that info.
  6. I think Kings Island would probably do the same amount of advertisements as they did for Mystic Timbers and the others programs. Canada's Wonderland likely did that billboard because it was the first coaster in Canada to reach over 300 feet tall. Here in the US....there are a few coasters over the 300 foot mark. I doubt KI would do an add like that based solely on that it would be for a Giga. If anything, they'd do it to show part of the story. Any billboards they do, would have to follow the rules of local zoning laws for where the billboards would be placed. It's not as easy to just throw a billboard up and be done with it.
  7. Yes @Hawaiian Coasters 325 if you are going to make a claim, it's your responsibility per the Terms of Service to provide a source to your information. It is in no way someone else's responsibility to back you up or provide your sources. In no disrespect to the person you tagged, someone who created their profile in February doesn't count as a source to the "facts" you've shared nor should they back up your claims unless they provide a source, no matter how much they "understand" the subject. As far as the link @jtro223 shared, which is a primary source to information about FUN/Cedar Fair, nothing in their latest press release states that they spent more money in 2017 than they budgeted for 2018. It states that: It also states: It also doesn't show that most of their money went to resort costs. If you're speaking about Hotel Breakers....that's been a cost that has been split over several years throughout each process of revamping the resort.
  8. I agree...I just showed that because the link above me was an "Intamin" concept that is already out there from S&S.
  9. I always find some areas of the park a little exaggerated. I'd assume it would stay as it was for layout and spacing. I think it'd be cool if there were at least a few table and chairs in there though.
  10. I voted no for now...while I'd love to see another coaster over there, I'd love to see more coasters for the adults I feel as if we were to get another kids coasters, it'd be less likely for the adults to be able to ride it lol.
  11. I know some have seen building permits that state "Coney BBQ." I'd think it'd be safe to assume it's going to be a restaurant. What else would it be?
  12. You may find it worth an announcement, but apparently the park doesn't. Announcing a new restaurant, will it sell passes? Unlikely...will it boost meal plan sales? Probably. The thing I can say that confuses me about this restaurant is that they announced Smoke House in Soak City and posted a bunch of updates about it's progress (well Chef Nate did mainly). That would be the only reason I could think of for them to talk about it and show updates (because it was done in the past). I don't think that just because it's new means we are guaranteed an announcement/update.
  13. Not even close. We know they're adding a restaurant. They likely are doing general upkeep throughout the park. Doubtful there would be an announcement for that nor is really needed. Imagine if they posted on social media "we're installing a new roof on Sweet Spot as part of our 2018 capital improvements." I cannot fathom how many responses they'd get....to the tune of "finally they're fixing some things...they need to fix Racer I about died on it once" or "I can find better things to spend money on than a roof" or "they should build a better ride than Mystic Timbers with that money." Announcing "small projects" can be a slippery slope. Sometimes it's better to not say anything at all and let folks find out for themselves.
  14. It's likely that they won't announce anything, especially if there isn't anything really to announce. We know we'll be receiving a new restaurant of some type. If they "announce" it, it'll likely be "announced" when they put out info for this year's Dining Plans.
  15. Awesome thanks @bengals fan for that link! In Coney's Facebook post, when they said it was soaring over the Ohio River, I pictured it further back in the park.
  16. That's really interesting! Most wouldn't think of a traveling Ferris Wheel/Sky Wheel. I know I didn't. It'll be interesting to see how many folks decide to ride. I'm wondering where in the park this will sit.
  17. That'd be cool, but I'm thinking we'll see it inspired by another ride station.
  18. Really? They're not going to move the fireworks launch pad for a coaster. If they have to, they'll just get ride of the fireworks all together. Where else would they move them? They would need to be on semi flat ground, away from guests and away from houses on the other side of the river. While they could move them out into the Soak City area....would it really be worth it? When has Cedar Fair ever used a "mega" "big" "massive" type name in their ride names? They may have, but that sounds so much more like a Six Flags name. Generic. Cedar Fair doesn't really do generic names. They repeat names, but I have yet to really see them putting generic words in a hat and picking two words out to decide on a name. One thing I'm struggling with in this thread is the lack of reality....why would they move maintenance buildings to put a coaster in? Why would they do this when there are other spaces for a coaster in the park? Why would they move the wood coaster maintenance shop further away from the wooden coasters instead of keeping it near The Racer? Why exactly is our next coaster guaranteed to be a Giga? Is it because we (KIC members) want it or has there been something that Cedar Fair has shown/indicated that a Giga is next? Is it just a fantasy? I'm all for speculation, but we've got some acting like this is a done deal, like we've already been teased and know that a Giga is coming. It's one thing to speculate, but it's another thing to speak as if concepts we can come up with are factual, i.e. this coaster will use the terrain, etc. Again, don't get me wrong, speculation is great, but can we please be realistic and try to make our ideas factual without facts?
  19. Wouldn't it be cool if the restaurant architecture was based off of a coaster station?
  20. Or could it be a shot from a drone?
  21. Back on topic....... I'm really thinking we'll see several infrastructure changes this year, not just in Coney, but in various areas of the park. As far as the new Coney restaurant....any guesses on how the building will look? What menu choices do you think it will offer? Inside seating -- yes or no? Coke Freestyle Machines or not?
  22. Kings Island doesn’t just throw up a picture and call it a tease. If they are going to tease something there is going to be a campaign. A campaign that involves being in the park and on social media. When have they ever just posted a generic photo of the park and that became a clue? I want new rides and a giga as much as the next guy, but this speculation continues to go without consideration to reality.
