  1. Didn’t miss the point at all. I just pointed out that the faults of using Social Media Reviews as a basis of what the gp think of the park.
  2. Social Media Reviews? How many of those are about things that could have been solved had they used the website? I literally saw a review the other day saying that they hated WinterFest because it cost too much, every activity cost extra to do, no one told us where anything was, etc. That person gave a 1 star review....yet, if they would have actually looked at the website to see how much it costs to get in, not every activity for WinterFest was an up charge, etc. They relied on someone to tell them where everything was when maps are available pretty much anywhere in the park. 1 star review could have been much higher if the person writing it did their research. I've seen a few low star reviews because people were ticked that they had to wait more than 15 minutes to ride Mystic Timbers opening weekend. Social Media reviews pretty much are so their thoughts can be validated and I truly question the intention. If Kings Island is as bad as they make it, KI wouldn't have the most season pass holders out of the chain. If KI was as bad as reviews say, there'd be a bigger uproar, the park wouldn't be as busy as it is during the season and it wouldn't be making a profit.
  3. Remember Coney Mall? It received new pavers to get rid of that awful blacktop. Other areas of the park have had the pavement fixed or changed such as the front of the park. In order to upgrade all of the buildings to look like the recent builds, that takes a lot of money too. Not just building but upgraded equipment too. Could they take a few years and update buildings around the park, sure? I mean they are doing that now in Coney Mall. Kings Island isn't a theme park....there is no story, never has been. It's an amusement park. I've yet to hear someone in the park complain that they saw an entrance to backstage areas.....if you want a theme park, Kings Island isn't your park.
  4. It may not be 24 hours but they are there pretty darn late after the park closes and pretty darn early before the park opens. They don't just fix things once they break....They replace wheels, they replace seat belts that need it, they tighten bolts on trains that need it, etc. They don't just put the trains in storage and leave for the night and expect them to be ready for operation the next morning. Who says those things are falling through the cracks? Fans that follow every move of the park or the family of 5 coming on their one visit to the park for the year? If you really think the park is starting to go down the decaying route, I encourage you to visit Conneaut Lake Park, Lakemont Park, etc. We've got a pretty good park....yes there are somethings that could be improved but the park is no where near the doom and gloom some think it is.
  5. The question is...who sees that these things are the problem? The general public doesn't necessarily think "oh man, Racer needs painted," "I really wish these effects that were used to be here would work again," "man my Boo Blasters gun doesn't make the noise like it used to," etc. New rides do bring in more guests...guests from all over and even near. While I don't think the park needs a new coaster soon, there is a lack of flat rides that really need to help fill the park up. Remember when Banshee came in? Action Zone was literally transformed into a much better looking area. New rides can spruce up areas of the park. As far as the doesn't make business since to add new coaster so soon after one was installed....look at Cedar Point....they literally have done back to back years of coasters, 2 years between coasters and 3 years. Cedar Fair has been a very successful business so far, I don't think that if they were to install a coaster in 2019 at Kings Island it'd tank the budget and company.
  6. Do you have specific examples? As far as preventative maintenance, they have maintenance teams there 24 hours a day working on rides, trains, etc. to ensure they are safe to operate.
  7. The webcam "message" was seen on the 30th. It's not some way the park is trying to hint at what's to come....it is 99% likely it was a bored associate looking to tease the KI fans who look at the webcams regularly. The full timers have much bigger and better things to do than to write "Giga" in the snow and they're literally the only ones who know the next phase of expansion.
  8. I totally agree with you on the shows.....I so hope that they move away from revue shows of genres and types of groups. They can totally do it....just how and what. As far as the stars...I agree...although, the Eiffel Tower tree is much better than Carowind's WindSeeker tree! The Candy Canes were a work in progress from what I could tell....early in December they looked the same....dark and just there. When I visited before Christmas, they had lighting at the base of them shooting up and some decorations inside of them......still kind of odd....thought they'd be wrapped in lights.
  9. I think an overhaul into a Harmony Hall Style eatery would be great. I think a German "stall" would be good, along side an Italian Stall, Grille Stall, BBQ Stall, a "green" stall, etc. would be good to add.
  10. Your video is not available @gforce1994
  11. Just something an associate did before the public got there...not everything seen is a clue for the next thing coming to the park.
  12. As long as our big Christmas tree doesn't look like this one I saw at Carowinds...I think we're good IMG_4037.MOV
  13. Sometimes the best marketing is not saying anything at all. It's obviously working...people have been talking about it. I'm assuming at most, there'll be a blog post or a small press release sent to the news.
  14. I've heard some rumblings from a friend in the rides office, pretty much have been told that I need to be back there in 2019.
  15. The difference with KI and Disney is that Disney has a lot more man power and most aren't seasonal or part time.
  16. Do they have to make an announcement or is that what we think is deserved? To be honest, I feel if they were to make an announcement of a new restaurant there would be a lot of complaints on how it is "a lame announcement," "we deserve _____," "wow what an overrated announcement," etc.
  17. @pianoman and I were there on Wednesday and a little bit on Thursday. We got 1 ride on Lightning Rod and I'm happy we did. As we were about to board, we heard that they closed the main doors and would try to get everyone in line on before the temp dropped too low for operation on Wednesday. We left on Thursday we were cold, it didn't look like most rides were going to open so we headed out toward KI for a meal and some hang outs before heading home. I will say, 2019 will be the year to go again....that land clearing is massive and holy crap!
  18. The space for maintenance isn't necessarily the biggest...so they take the trains to the shop when they have the space for them and/or when it's time to work on them. As Brad said, most of the trains and/or vehicles are placed outside in various spaces of the park....some get more coverage than the others and some don't get nearly as much.
  19. I can kind of agree with you on the show timing. While it's nice after a couple of visits to know which shows are at the :00 and :30 times, so I think if they added :15 would make it a little more confusing.... I have hustled from one end the park to the other to get to a show, but it's not necessary the best of interest for everyone to do that. The one thing I wish they would have done was list the times for shows like Holly Jolly Trolley and Blitzen's Brass Band (and general areas for those times you can see them).
  20. I absolutely agree with this! Yes! Thank you!
