  1. Also KCKC was where I learned what certain pot smelled like....occasionally you could get a whiff of something up high with the trees Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Welcome (why do new people have the word banned under them on Tap Talk?). Also there are few on here (myself and Terp for sure) who just love open mic spiels..... But in all seriousness (and quoting great Xmen covers) welcome to KIC, you know the rest ! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Which is sort of gross (the oil). When I worked fast food, the oil had to be replaced at most every other day (but for the most part it was emptied at night). But we also had to scrub the machine every time we emptied it, and by scrub I meal literally clean out the entire machine. I would guess that the oil is probably either changed every other day or if it is its not being cleaned appropriately... http://www.restaurantbusinessonline.com/operations/advice-guy/knowing-when-change-your-frying-oil
  4. Yeah agreed on the scare actors. It could be very detrimental to getting young kids to enjoy rides. If I know something may be too scary for my son while we are on a ride (say Haunted Mansion at WDW) I can clover his eyes or "accidentally" reposition him to not see it. If a dude jumps out and scares me... well he would be done as well....
  5. Look at all of the trees. All of the trees... and the water... oh my... Look at the trees.... I forgot about that.... Also RFYLCB was originally just the Log Flume at Coney Island right? So when it was at KI originally it was just themed to go with River Town, like sending logs down the river... Then from what I remember it was always apart of River Town (and the older part of the park) till it was rethemed to the Wild Thornberries ride... Right?

  7. Bump bump spike. Standbyme did one of the greatest posts ever. New and old should read this.
  8. If my memory is correct it's where the current CFA table seating is located now. It sort of acts as a cut through from where the Fred Flintstone Yogi Bear entrance to River Town was. I believe it came out where the current DB exit/gift store is located Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I'd have paid for that service a few years back. Mom could have gone to the park with me, with dignity. They used to have that. They were called trams. They didn't. Mom went to Dollywood. And loved it. She'd have loved to have gone to Kings Island, too. Finally I convinced her to let me buy a wheelchair and push her in it. I happily suggested Kings Island. She quickly said, "No, I still want to go to Dollywood. They care about me and want me to feel welcome. Kings Island doesn't." I was speechless and had no reply. And we went. To Dollywood. They cared about her and made her feel welcome. I've never forgotten that. A park gets it. Or it doesn't. When it comes to parking lot trams, seating for seniors, shade trees, etc., Kings Island doesn't get it. Hasn't for years. A best day ever includes many generations. Or, it could. Mom looked forward to Dollywood trips. She no longer wanted to go to Kings Island. They had gotten rid of the trams. I wonder what that REALLY saved them. It cost them Mom's visits. I'm sure she wasn't and isn't the only one. "They care about me and make me feel welcome." My grandparents were the same way Terp. I wonder what will happen when my parents start to get up there in age. My dad has already said he's unsure KI will be for him next year. His body can't take the coasters anymore and he says there isn't much for him to enjoy with the grand kids or kids except for the train, the little train, and the "old Smurf building". (Kids are too small for 36 inch rides and he misses the multiple shows, yet enjoys the ones we do see). Yet he's looking forward to our trip to Disney/Universal in 2018 (either Hollywood or Orlando). 10. Have a little guy and this is what I bring into the park. My bottle phone wallet and keys for me. A cheap ($20) umbrella stroller, a small draw string backpack with 3-5 diapers, diaper wipes, some small snacks for the kiddo (pretzels or apple sauce), and juice. If they were to steal the umbrella stroller with backpack diapers wipes and snacks I would be out ... Maybe $35 plus the bottle if they were to take it. Pack light and cheap. Plus my wallet phone and keys never leave my person Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Double post because the previous one was liked: If you want to do a lot of character meet and greets and have them autograph books, I can't recommend enough the character meals. During your hour or so with the meal (and it's A buffet so eat a bunch) you can have a little personal time with 4-6 characters. This saved us from using valuable ride time or Fast Passes on characters. It was also nice not to have to stand in a long line in the sun to meet Pooh or Mickey or Jake. This made it nicer for us all Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Agreed with Medford. Also download the app. It has food prices on there and that helped us as we used the app and outside websites to determine if it would be worth it for us. We knew we would do a lot of character buffets. And some of the buffets ran 35-42 per person. So for 60/day it made sense to us. Good luck! Also when it comes to stuff like this, helping people, these boards have some great knowledge. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Well in all fairness to the park, the major construction to the road in front of the park has more to do with the backing up of traffic to the highway than the park moving the entrance. The rest yes is totally on the park. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. In the middle of June, hot and humid (90+) at noon or so... There were maybe 5-6 people total inside the nursery areas. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/guest-services/baby-care-centers/ https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/preschool/#openguide Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. They were very good last year but it's all about perceived value as well when you think of people with a meal plan. Previously you got a hot and freshly made cheese steak with the toppings. Now you get a (foot long) hot dog or sausage. May be just as tasty and just as filling but I can get hot dogs elsewhere in the park... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Ugh that's upsetting. The cheese steaks were the best kept secrets in the park. Freshly made and delicious.... Now the meal plan is good for a hot dog or a sausage there... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. It's less tricks and more a working relationship. To be honest there are no tricks and processes. We would call the police or PR or businesses/etc and ask for information. The longer you worked in an area the more you could be "trusted". If you were trusted they would give you information. Some you can tell and some you can't. If you burned a bridge you got less. If you got insider info and didn't divulge it till it was ready (you were the first) you got more later. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. As was said above, the calendar is 12 months out. The nurseries were huge time savers and baby/mom savers as well. Because of them we wasted no time going back and forth to the hotels and parks. We stayed at Art of Animation and it was great. The food court in the hotel was nice and again saved us some time during the day. Staying on and off property is a big question to ask. As some have stated you will save money by renting a house off property but on property for say a budget room (Art of Animation) last year was $119 a night. This year it's about 147. And that's a room with either a king or 2 queens. The pools were great but we never used them. We also got two free cups to use at our hotel for "free" drinks. If you stay off property you do not get a chance to purchase a meal plan or get "free" Magic Bands. You can purchase the Bands and link them to your tickets but if you stay off property the ticket works like your Magic Band. As for a meal plan, this depends on how you are as a family and how much you eat. For us it was great because I was able to prepay for food and then let me appetite and taste buds make the decisions during our stay. So when I wanted an ice cream or a fruit cup I could get one and the same if I wanted the Mahi Mahi or a steak. Plus the prepay allowed me to feel comfortable about spending money (since I didn't have to save X amount of money to be able to eat the rest of the week). We got the one sit down and one quick service meal (Regular Dining). We were so hot that we really each used a quick service for breakfast, and then one table service for dinner and wasn't very hungry for lunch so the snack was perfect. We also ate at a lot of character buffets so we weren't terribly hungry. If you eat more you may look at the Deluxe Dining which is 3 meals a day. As for restaurants know that they charge $25 for a no show if you make reservations. This is to help cut down on the people who would make reservations for each park and then decide which one to eat at that day. Those can be made 6 months out. Hope this all helps!! 19. We just did WDW with a 2 year old last year and will be doing again this December with a 3 year old and a new born (coming in October). Disney Transportation is super easy to use and great. We stayed at Art of Animation and I would say the ride back to the hotel from MK was about 30 or so mins. So from that point of view I think you would be happy no matter where you go as transport make it easy to get to and from the parks to the hotel. You can reenter the parks using the same ticket. What may be nice to know though is that each park has a nursery area that's air conditioned. For the most part that's where our little guy napped during the day. I would get my wife an iced coffee and my son would nap in the AC and my wife would relax and cool down. I would either explore some of the shops or read or just read in the AC myself. That way we didn't have to leave the park and come back. I would suggest this first but not always needed. I'd book as soon as you can (12 months out). When I spoke with Disney last year they told me that if the price drops they would reimburse me he difference. So it's not worth waiting especially if you can get a room where you want. We are staying at Bay Lke this December but for easiest transport look for a park on the monorail line Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  21. 700 WLW is reporting that the family has made two different statements this morning. 1: the young boy (named Isaiah in video but not named officially) is doing well 2: they have received money and gifts. For future money and gifts they are asking the donors to send it to the zoo in Harambe's name. 700 WLW also reports that the family is refusing all interview requests, the police are investigating for criminal charges, and the exhibit reopens Saturday. The zoo is making adjustments to the exhibit this week. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. This comes from anecdotal evidence of working with children and parents who have had and gotten their children back from CPS (child protective services) and others who didn't. Well depending on the prosecution from the police this info may not be useful. Many times when CPS investigates the last thing they want to do is separate or break up families for the reasons you stated. So as long as the family doesn't pose an active threat to the well being of the child or children then the kids won't be pulled away. In most cases, CPS will set up the family with a case worker or put in some parameters to help the family. **often times when the family has to be broken up its to allow the parent or parents time to get their lives on track** Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Sounds like you have a great project to do. Maybe that will give you a reason to come back to the park. If it didn't exist it might not because 1: no one wants to 2: there may not be a great audience for it. But go for it. Someone may watch it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  25. Before I read the daycare thing I wondered what people would think or say if it was a teacher who lost one of her kids. once I realized where the preschool/daycare is located, I've driven by it many times and probably wouldn't send my kid there but it had received a 2 and 3 star ratings out of 5 from magazines and such (before this event) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
