  1. join the media, be invited, go. Or be personally invited by Kings Island. Or have RSVP'd when you had the chance a month or 2 ago. EDIT:Beaten!
  2. Then again, its not that much different than what some other places are offering/charging. The church we got married at asked for a $400 donation (we could only afford $200 and they were okay with it). Some of the other churches/sites we looked at ranged from 250-2000 depending on the place. And that was just for the place for the wedding ceremony (not the reception). The photography package looks like you are paying to just be able to get photos at CP. Private property and all. One place offered us to allow us the opportunity to take photos on an gazebo in the middle of a small man made lake for 100 or so. We didnt do that. My wife and I seriously looked at the Disney Weddings when we got married almost 3 years ago. At the time it was a minimum $10000 spending to get a Disney wedding. Messing around on the Disney Wedding site it looks like you can only bring 18 guests. I believe they dont get admission into the WDW either. Weddings are crazily expensive now. Looks like the 12 tickets are to be used as a wedding gift to your party. The rest of the guests are expected to get out of the park no later than 10:01
  3. Bingo^! I have ridden many thrill rides and super coasters, biggest drops, top speeds, biggest loops, etc. The rides that have the best memories for me are the ones I rode with my mom and dad (mind you 2 of those coasters are Beast and Racer) such as Adventure Express or Iron Dragon and The Bat. A ride the whole family can enjoy is infinetly better for memory making than the ride that only a select few can ride.
  4. I wouldnt guess improved capacity as much as your statement about more rides, and possibly better queues? The park has spread out with more and more rides. This means that more people can be in the park spread out. The best way I imagine this is the registers at a shopping center. If you have a small grocery store with only 1 or 2 registers, if only 25 people checkout, those lines would be very very long. If you have a large grocery store with 100 people checking out, and 25 registers open, then only 4 people in each line. So the bigger the store, the more people. The bigger the store the more registers which means lines would be shorter. When Beast opened, the big rides in the park were Racer, Beast, antique cars, 2 long flumes, Lion County, Screamin Deamon. Compared to this year: Banshee, Bat, Beast, Racer, Vortex, Adventure Express, log flume, Whitewater Rapids, waterpark, larger kiddie area, Backlot, Firehawk, FoF, etc. Bigger store with more registers = smaller queues.
  5. My wife was a week or two pregnant with our son when we were at Universal. She obviously did not know that at the time. But my son has already rode the following: Hulk, Spiderman, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, the dueling dragon fight ride, and a host of others.....
  6. looks like a towel or a drop cloth. Odds are it was put there to aide in putting the claw on the sign. Concrete plus big heavy sign pieces do not always mix. Just something to help keep the claw from getting scratched up.
  7. King Cobra was a ride that I really enjoyed. I didnt realize how close it was to being removed when I rode it. If I knew then what I know now....
  8. Drove by the park today... The sign looks gorgeous.
  9. You're wrong. You forget the drop that happens right after that section. Have you ever noticed how far up the second lift the train makes it before the lift kicks in? I thought the shed had kicker tires on there as well.
  10. I always find it ironic when people say they're losing weight for Disney, because Disney is the most large-person-friendly park there is! I've been fortunate enough to have 5 trips to WDW in the past 8 years, and I have never had an issue with any ride there, unlike most other parks I go to. I have a friend who lost weight years ago for his first Disney trip, and we like to laugh about that. When he first told me about it, I said what I did above about it being large person friendly. He responded "Yeah, I found that out when I got there!" Here is a great resource on WDW rides and attractions for people of the larger persuasion: http://allears.net/tp/ridsiz.htm Links on the left side of the page will take you to the sections on each park. I did not know that. Well that makes me feel better, but I would still like to lose the weight. I fit at KI (as of last season) but things are starting to get tight. So if Disney is my excuse to get back to my "fighting weight" then Ill do it But thanks for the link! And go for it, I hope you drop 10 pounds to be lighter than the GK weight!
  11. I think its very interesting. If you use one at 11 am, then sign up for a new ride for 1 pm, it gives you time ride another ride or watch a show. Best of both worlds?
  12. Looks like some solid upgrades and changes. However, I'm sure someone will find fault with it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. to be honest whats more important safety (or perceived safety) or capacity? If people dont ride because of a perceived fear, then capacity doesnt matter. Remember the general public does not know the difference between an Arrow and a BM. All it takes is an accident on a coaster and it causes the general public to have that fear in the front of their minds.... IF a simple seat belt can alleviate some of that fear, is that so bad?
  14. Yea Ill go with you. I mean you need two witnesses to prove any rumor...
  15. I may be in the minority on this issue, but if this is true, then great. We should be able to ride a ride without the worry that a restraint will fail. I understand that the extra restraint on DB (as told to me in previous thread) that the seats are designed to keep you from flying out. However, if by adding a belt it can help limit the damages if something fails, then great! I like Diamondback, but one of my big worries is a restraint failure (on any ride, really). I know the odds of that happenings is minuscule, but I go to a park to enjoy the rides, get freaked out, then be escorted safely back to the station. If I get too big for a ride, I have two options, lose the weight for it (which I am doing for Disney, I want no surprises there) or not ride it.
  16. That orange will look great when the green comes back around the ride.
  17. Well what constitutes a successful coaster? Bat opened for 3 years, gave a bunch of rides. If you can count SOB then Bat should be counted as well. Maybe we should be lucky to have such a great park sitting in our backyards...
  18. Great article, In all seriousness, the article mentions Big Bad Wolf as the first suspended, I thought The Bat was? Secondly, I have not really noticed but KI seems to be on the forefront of roller coaster innovation. Racer, Beast, Bat, King Cobra, SOB, Banshee (any other record breakers/first of their kind/important?)
  19. You know, You dont have to keep put "Probably typed with my thumbs" On most of your posts. Just write the post. Dont need anything extra. Who cares?
  20. Expect long hours and low low pay. But the perks do add up. I got to go to many OSU sporting events, hang on the field during football games, see the Destroyers and Blue Jackets. When I was in NY, I got to meet some very interesting people and had almost set up an event to attempt to break a roller coaster record as a radio publicity event. The last one fell through due to management at the radio station not wanting to take on the liability. (A few may remember when I was on here and wanted to do something similar to a ride at KI, but the radio bosses didnt enjoy the idea of me traveling to OHIO, so I picked a NY park that paid advertising with us). Depends on what station etc. If you get in at a smaller station and can swing the bosses to send you (think Zanesville) then its possible. To be a reporter, some say go to college and some say you dont need it. What you need to do is to be able to do field work, look good, speak well, and write a concise story.
  21. I have to disagree with both you ^^. Just because a ride is not the tallest or fastest or W.E. does not mean that only the little ones will enjoy this. I am guessing that some of the taller ones will enjoy this ride just like the little ones. This looks like a ride made for entire families to enjoy not the just the thrill seekers.
  22. I have never been to Dollywood, but this may make it worth it for me in the near future. When my son is 3-5 years old (in 3-5 years from now) it will be coasters like this that will be fun to ride together.
