  1. Agreed^ Maybe after a night of sleep we can all agree that having a park that holds so many memories is such a great thing that bickering and arguing about it is silly. Back in my day..... Remember one day our Kids will be saying the same thing about Banshee and its possible The Beast may not even be in the park...
  2. F=MA Force= Mass * Acceleration.... the more mass you have the more force you will have... heavier things seem to go faster/farther. Is it time for your curfew yet?
  3. I believe 2001, but to prove a point here is the building POV Notice all brake runs seem the same as the 2001 video Don, I disagree with you. Its not just first time Beast riders that are blown away! Rode it last year for the first time in almost 3-5 years and it was just as out of control and awesome as it was when I was 16 and fit better in the seats!
  4. Memory is deceptive because it is colored by today's events. Albert Einstein
  5. S Yeah I wont blame you for your idea, but its wrong! No just kidding ideas cant be wrong. The Rocky Mountain treatment would be great for a ride that needs rehabbed. Beast does not need this treatment, IMO.
  6. Would that be the same covered section that once served as a MCBR with kicker tires and skid brakes? Skid brakes were all replaced with magnetic. Also if you check out This looks to be pre-magnetic brakes. Brakes look longer than what we have now EDIT:TERPED
  7. Is it possible that The Beast seems not as out of control and fast etc because we are older? When you are 14 riding a ride for the first time it is a frightening experience. When you ride that same ride every weekend or year its not the same it once was. When I was 8 Iron Dragon was terrifying. I rode it a few years ago, and the hype I had in my mind (mind you I hadnt ridden it in almost 20 years) was no where near close. We can become very jaded as a community. When you ride a ride so much you know the turns and you know the hills it can become very boring. Im sure in 20 years, if Banshee lasts that long (I think it will), we will be talking about how out of control it was before XYZ....
  8. JDawg, I am not sure why you would use The Bat as a slam towards The Beast. The Bat is a solid coaster that offers thrills to park goers. Beast is a classic ride. Like a classic muscle car. Some look at the 60's muscle cars and see beauty and speed and freedom. Some see nothing but big metal death traps with no power brakes, crank windows, and low (compared to new) horsepowers. The Beast is that classic muscle car. Is it flashy? No. Is it the fastest? No. Does it give you the air time and adrenaline you are hunting for with a ride like Banshee? No. But does it offer a very solid ride that offers great thrills that can connect generations. It feels like its just on the verge of going out of control and dips in and out of tree lines. I dont blame you for your opinion. No more than I blame people who dont appreciate what came before them. I pity you though. I pity the (fool ) fact that you have become so accustomed to high g forces that a ride like The Beast becomes boring. Its similar to people who hate older movies because its filmed different than newer movies.... Kids these days (Full disclosure, I am a 28 year old who had a 65 Mustang as his first car, favorite movies are Great Escape and Jurassic Park, and prefers simpler things)
  9. I have so many ideas for this system from a national point of view and from a tv background. Have a mini-this day in Cedar Fair history, post wait times from around the park, central host kicking it out live to individuals at different parks. How cool would it be if while waiting in line for The Beast, you watched a live view interview/game coming from the top of the Eiffel Tower at Kings Dominion or watched a 3 minute special on Gatekeeper. Not to mention, the additional revenue you would sell by selling out 60 second commercial breaks to state advertisers. (Pure Michigan, California, etc). Have a cold Coke, or Eat Mor' Chick'n. Every hour, there is 15 minutes of local information (Sports, Weather, Etc.) Heck, you work it out with a local news station where they send you a 5 minute news update in return for exclusive information first or use of webcams (doesn't Fox have a webcam at KI currently?). Local host can interview a park operator or guest. You make it a real live fun experience. Show ten minutes from one of the music review shows. Then at the end of the 15 minutes it kicks back out to National Host. Play some music show some videos, etc.
  10. Here is a little article about the time when animals, humans, and a train all interacted http://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/history/2014/04/21/kings-island-lion-country-safari-history-warren-county/7976435/ Its awesome that the animals were brought into that animal park. It is amazing out there.
  11. I am sure they are tracking the average use of each individual for this plan. If it goes very well, a price increase could probably be seen for next year. The price seems absurdly low. Even with the assumption I will pay for a soft drink each time.
  12. Stop it! Posting bogus information like this forces the park to field unnecessary calls, emails, Facebook and Twitter messages. Wouldnt a post like the above one be enough for rumors like this to just stop?
  13. Well all three commercials did make me chuckle. Which is something... In the first commercial, were they doing a presentation on how quickly FUN stock was rising? http://youtu.be/f_fwU8Ebgzo?t=9s
  14. Agreed^^ I was be factious to a point. But if it gets me into the park the odds of me spending money there increases as well. Plus I have a young child that going to the park to just see the sights would be entertaining to him and I. Plus it would be on par to a go cardio program of walkin the park daily with him Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. I would not be telling the truth if that thought didnt cross my mind. I live about 15-20 minutes from KI. A season pass would run me about 110 + 84$ for the meal plan. I would buy a souvenir cup and then go to KI every afternoon just to get food and eat at the park with my son. So because I like doing these type of things....... 200 divided by 20 trips to the park = $10 per meal + 99 cents per drink 200 divided by 40 trips to the park = $5 per meal + 99 cents per drink (I may not stay for 2 meals) but would go to a show or two. Man this could be cheaper than going to the grocery store...
  16. Crossing of the ankles would cause the muscles in the thighs and stomach to constrict (where ever you are sitting raise your legs and cross your ankles), this move also will cause you to roll your hips in and making a tighter profile of your mid to lower section. Not to mention that doing so also causes your back to go just a little bit straighter.
  17. Using my numbers from above... if you get a souvenir bottle, you can add 99 cents onto each price per meal if you want a soft drink.
  18. Eh, if I go to a park on opening day and spend money to get a Fast Lane or Fast Pass or a front of the line system, then I want it then. The multiple shirts thing is a bummer. It sucks. But the Fast Lane riders paid good money and they get their money's worth. So wait the glockenspiel was completely removed? Or just not rehabbed? Who knows, it could be getting restored as we speak, but I haven't heard anything from the park. I haven't been to KI yet but judging by oldiesmann's pic at the top of the last page the clock has been completely removed. Man, I didnt see that picture. What a shame. Here is hope that it gets returned to greater glory
  19. Never got to meet him, but would like to. For no other reason than he seems to be very knowledgeable about parks and the park industry.
  20. If you live close to the park or plan to go at least 1-2 times per week, this plan is a slam dunk! Even if the food options are not the greatest of selections, its still better than leaving the park going to get food then coming back. $84 divided by 12 meals (6 days in the park) = $7 per meal. No drinks of course but water is better for you anyways. 84 divided by 20 meals (10 days in the park) = $4.20 per meal 84 divided by 30 meals (15 days) = $2.80 And lastly for our big park goers 84 divided by 50 meals (25 days in the park) = $1.68 per meal....
  21. So wait the glockenspiel was completely removed? Or just not rehabbed?
  22. Couple ideas for fun tv that would be cool additions. 3-5 min videos about other parks or other coasters at other parks (visit cp and experience raptor.... Etc)... The other thing would be love web cam videos of other parks. Not to mention upto date sorts info, maybe work with fox sports ohio to do a daily reds update or feature. Would also like to see live features from inside the park/possible love dj host directing the info. Heck have one live host on the entire network (for all cp parks) with mini live segments at each park in the chain. Hey Don does CF want to hire a programmer for fun tv? 23. Would there be a legal issue with showing the Reds? Licensing or something? Ummm, No. You are not allowed to show highlights during the game. Other than that Im sure you would just needs written permission.
  24. Jd I was just wondering where I couldn't find it online that's all Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. That chicken looks like canes. Texas Toast, dipping sauce, chicken fingers...
