  1. Sometimes all you have to do is Google https://www.visitkingsisland.com/ticket-category/2014-Season-Passes I say this in the nicest way possible. Tap the brakes a bit on all of the new topics. Welcome to KIC!
  2. blind faith is still blindness. Its up to the individual to perceive things the way he/she would like to see them. People have asked questions on here or pointed out the differences between this park and many others in the same sphere of influence. If you perceive that as a negative, then thats your view of being negative not others. I really enjoy KI but I can question the thought process of many things they do. Doesnt mean I am negative to the park.
  3. Well to be honest, I think most of us want to see the park succeed... its just we have our doubts. Amazing to see people freak out about it. If you dont have a rational defense then attack the people asking questions. Seems like a sound defense. ...
  4. I worked at the Dent School house for about 3 years (during my high school days). I loved that place. I went back this year, and can say only a few things got be freaked out/scared. For the most part, my buddy and I went through the house because we love Halloween and the entire theme. My sister and I both went to Haunt this past fall. We had not been in a few years. A few places were awesome (the hospital one, Slaughterhouse (which actually scared my sister**), the New Orleans one) while a few were just okay (the calendar one, the wolf pack, the one with the black light and bubbles). But overall we looked at it that we paid about $40 to go through about 10 houses plus rode Diamond Back and Beast. That broke down to $4 per house. Compared to the $20 I dropped at Dent earlier in the fall. With so many guests coming to the park you are bound to have many people with many different fears (animals, smells, vamps, ghouls, ghosts, bugs, isolation, hospitals, mirrors, etc). With 12 "houses" and a few different zones, each can cater to a different group/niche. The only thing I wish they had was more actors everywhere. But other than that it was awesome. ** My sister is a huge fan of Halloween and never gets scared by haunted attractions. However, we went to Slaughterhouse first. It was still light outside so you could see pretty well inside the haunt. We went down one of the inflated blow up rows and as she came out of the inflatable tunnel, someone either jumped out or slammed a "knife" on the wall and got her to jump and scream. Well Done!!!!**
  5. I can honestly say I dont think I ever rode these Eagles. I really wish I had, based on everyone's conversations about this ride. I think I rode a similar ride at other parks, but I have never been a big fan of the rides that take you in circles.
  6. I always hate reading about when someone else talks about losing a friend at a young age. It is never good when a young life is lost. 16 year olds shouldnt be mourning their friends who have passed. I agree, I hope no one else on here has to go through this as well. Homestar, it does get better. It has been almost 12 years since I lost my friend when I was 15 and eventually the good memories will replace the bad/pain of the loss.
  7. My most favorite all time memory would be (I am sure I probably mentioned it on here before) the last time I saw my friend Jess at the park. I was riding Adventure Express when I heard her yell for me, I waited at the exit line and my friend and I met up with her and her friend. Adventure Express will always be special to me. I hung out with Jess for the rest of that day. We said we would call each other and hang out soon. We mentioned how we were excited to hang out and see each other during the fall in TX (St X theater). She died during that next school year. She had an accident on 275. Before any plays happened she was gone. My last memory of her was riding around Adventure Express and going on coasters with her in the park. I couldnt tell you what we talked about or what we rode. She was my friend (no romantic intentions) and I just assumed we would hang out again soon. If not soon we would hang out in the fall. So no matter how old I get no matter who I ride Adventure Express with, the ride will be forever linked to her. KI hold special memories for me because as I get older, memories of people I loved and knew are intertwined at KI. My grandpa hanging out in the picnic area during Shriner Days, or my aunt taking pictures of myself and my cousins on the Antique Cars. My dad (pre-stroke) and I riding with my mom and sister on The Beast or The Racer.
  8. Maybe he got the Garden confused with a Domain?
  9. Again, I understand why Sccard wants the park to succeed. Just like people wanted Geuga Lake to keep a dry side. A hater would say the following: "I hope KK doesnt open because I hate them" or "I hope KK fails because it was never a good park." A critic would say the following: "I have questions pertaining to the way the park is presenting it self compared to other successful companies" or "Why dont they do these things (shown to work in other situations) instead of the way they just did it"
  10. As much as I would enjoy that, the park would not be making as much money. ALOT of people smoke, and if smoking is banned at KI, then they wouldn't go to KI... Sort of like how people stopped going to restaurants, bars, and bowling alleys when they banned smoking in Ohio? ^^ BINGO^^ Keep the designated areas and just enforce them. No need to ban everything just because no one enforces the rules.
  11. Yea but..... This isnt a church or an old folks home or really anything similar. This is a park that is attempting to show that its a new park and will be around for years to come. When you ask for volunteers you are either trying to get community service opportunities (usually helping someone else) or you are saying hey we cant afford this and need help. Imagine the difference this would have had had they offered something of more value for the help they are asking for. Imagine they offered a free "Front of the Line Pass" for Lightning Run or a day long "Fast Pass" for one day at the park, maybe they could have offered a 1 day free admission to the park, or offered up a free behind the scenes tour of the revamped park. All of a sudden the volunteer work now has a perceived higher value. Now you can turn people away (only the first 20 volunteers or something). PR is all about perceived value. If I walked around and offered free Speech therapy people would think that something is wrong with me and my ability. If I go around and state my normal fee is $60/hour but am offering it for $30/hour, I would get more business at the "discount rate." This park does not feel that there is a huge perceived value.
  12. I agree Devarious, but sometimes its fun to spin the pot and see what shakes out. I really do wish for a sarcasm font.. Also, how funny would it be if they just changed the name of areas to symbols. "well lets all head over to, the fish with legs area and then maybe we can hit up the stick with 4 branches area afterwards."
  13. What if.... From Delerium to Invertigo is labeled Action Zone, but from Banshee on back is labeled as just a symbol AKA "The part of the park formerly known as part of Action Zone and Wild Animal Kingdom."
  14. In all honesty, it seems that this discussion keeps going in circles. I second this inquisition. I worship God, the God of the Christians, more commonly known as Jehovah, but hey, I don't speak for the rest of the crowd. (For all I know, someone here may worship the flying spaghetti monster!) in Latin. In Hebrew it would be Yahweh. Just saying. As a Christian I dont recognize the name Jehovah
  15. Terp has never lead us astray in the past. I too believe that on (Reds) Opening Day 2014, the area will be named Action Zone.
  16. sometimes its the little things that tell you the most. When an employer makes a promise and doesnt keep it (even little ones), it shows the respect they have for the employees. KI - interview and decision in one day. They know if they like a person they need to hire them before they lose them for another job. PLus if it doesnt work out, you can always replace BG- makes a 2 week promise calls back in 6 weeks. KK - interview and no decision. At most places, if you are not contacted you are to assume they didnt hire you. I wonder how many people they will lose to other jobs before making a decison. Then again, they did ask for free labor to clean the park up. KK, IMHO, are taking 2 steps forward and 2 steps backwards in every phase of the reopening of this park. Gets a new roller coaster, announces it quietly on facebook. Roller coaster arrives on park, pictures released on facebook. Holds a huge job fair, asks for free labor. Puts up a billboard, runs no other advertising.
  17. Sorry to disappoint, but in the foreseeable future, there won't be one in an bemusement park for quite some time. The chain was founded around LSU's campus and most locations are in a college town, there is a stretch with the business by having some locations in shopping malls. There's a very strong possibility that there will be a Raising Canes in Tylersville, but we're waiting on the word from Corporate. Was not a real hope. Only a joke, Sorry that it missed so badly.
  18. There goes my hopes that a Raising Cane's would be put into the park...
  19. I would also assume, at a smaller park, maybe some of the wiring may not be up to the best coding? Or at the very least, a fire at a smaller park (no matter how much damage) would be more detrimental than if the same fire were to happen at a big park/company.
  20. This can be seen in two different ways: 1. What a wonderful way to showcase the park to potential customers and to also get free help! Future customers can see the progress the park has made, maybe some church groups and scout groups can get some volunteer hours in, and the park wins because they get free labor to make the park ready for the grand re-opening. 2. Man this park cannot even afford to hire enough workers? Even pro-football teams pay the people who come out to help shovel snow out of a stadium before a big game.
  21. Best Beast ride was this past fall for myself. My sister and I hit up the Halloween park and went through KI together for the first time in about 10 + years. We left our significant others at home (husband for her, wife for me, along with our kids). It was like we were 12 years old again. Well we rode Beast at 10 pmish. And we got the Fog ride. It was awesome! Couldnt see too much into the valleys, and The Beast is so much faster at night! At one point, we couldnt tell if we were in the tunnels or not. Part of the great park of this ride was because my sister and I had not gotten to ride roller coasters together for what seemed like years and it brought us back to the first time we rode a big coaster together back when were 6 or 7 years of age. So for one evening The Beast made a 27 year old brother and his 26 year old sister 20 years younger!
  22. thats a fair point. But as I get older, I realize how much danger is in all rides.
  23. I love riding it, but as I get older I start to realize how much danger is actually involved for this ride.
  24. Yet Northern Kentucky does not have a reporting News Market. It is considered part of the Cincy media reporting. And that is what happens when you spend all day reading German history books...
