Ah, that explains it. Thanks!

Forgive this ignorant idiot from up north, but what is Cincinnati about flying pigs?

Wikipedia is useful when working on a research paper, just not as a source for facts (which, generally speaking, you should never be using any tertiary source, like encyclopedias, in research papers; you should use secondary sources and in rare cases the occasional primary source instead). The best way to use it is as what I call a "source for sources". Most Wikipedia articles of decent quality with have some form of references to secondary sources, either inline citations and/or a bulleted list at the bottom of the page. These secondary sources can be used a handy starting point for your own research, provided that the sources are not locked behind an online paywall.

This is my favorite serious suggestion so far. -

AVATAR Is Going To Animal Kingdom
jcgoble3 replied to Avatar's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I just saw this sentence (emphasis added): I assumed it was the name of the attraction. I didn't watch the video. -
^ Is the "Airbrush Tee's" sign still up, or did that get fixed?

AVATAR Is Going To Animal Kingdom

^ Wait, they're getting an attraction named Banshee too? Did they clear that with Cedar Fair's trademark attorney(s)? -
^ I'm good.

After the initial bobblehead rush is over, probably some of the lightest crowds you'll see all season.

If we're going to do another miniature golf tournament next year, then I'm going to bring my own putter for the title defense. Then you'll need to watch out!

Nice find! The phone number appears to have belonged to a third party, not Kings Island, as this totally unrelated video from the same year advertises the same number:

You can define a region however you want (read: whatever gives you the most seemingly impressive marketing claim). A few minutes from my house sits Kil-Kare Speedway, a 3/8 mile paved oval short track used for weekly grassroots-level auto racing. At one point, the sign out front advertised the track as "the fastest 3/8 mile oval in Greene County". In fact, it is the only auto racing track in Greene County of any length.

Great report! Yeah, I've always been somewhat of a "ringer" at miniature golf. I probably would have done even better if I had brought my own putter, which gives me a bit finer control over the ball. As it was, I shot 53, RaptorGuy shot 56, ohiocolts 59, Mark (can't recall his screen name) 60, MDMC01 63, and ohiocolts's sister... I'll be nice and not post her score. That's all the scores from the two scorecards I kept; XGatorHead 8904 has the other, which has the scores for him, Mrs. Gator, and GatorGirl. They were all in the 60s.

KI Saturday 10/12, first park visit in 7+ years!
jcgoble3 replied to thegajone's topic in Trip Reports
Great report and glad you had fun! If you want to see a drastic contrast in crowd sizes, go to KI on one of the last two Sundays this year. The crowd waiting at the gate might be large, but once the bobbleheads run out, a lot of those people may leave, having just come for the bobblehead, and the remaining crowd will be absolutely nothing like what you saw yesterday. Imagine a 5-minute wait for Diamondback and Beast. On a Sunday in late October, you probably won't have to imagine it because it will likely be reality. -
Then what would a new go-kart track be? A fake addition?
-
Huh? 2013 − 1926 = 87. Where are you getting 100?

From Atlanta, Heading to Kings Island This Weekend (Looking For Advice)

I believe elephant ears are available at the snack stand between White Water Canyon's entrance and exit. I'm not entirely sure on that, though. -

The meal deal is only for certain items at certain stands. Those items will have a special icon next to them on the menu board designating them as a meal or as a snack. The Reds Grille does not offer anything that is part of the meal deal. The Rivertown Potato Works fries may or may not be included; I'm not sure. If you have questions about specific menu items, your best bet is to call the park at (513) 754-5700, or stop by Guest Services to the right of the turnstiles when you arrive. -
Beat me to it. Oldest by two years according to Wikipedia (1924 for Dodgems vs. 1926 for the Grand Carousel).
-
I believe it is the Grand Carousel.

I would like to see a go-kart track again, but the karts need to be faster and the track needs to be longer and have both left and right turns. That tiny oval with the slow karts was boring because someone driving at half-throttle along the inside barrier couldn't be passed at all even if you were going full-throttle, so all you could do was back off the gas pedal and wait for the end of the session. Cedar Point has much better go-kart tracks; I'd like to see something like those at KI.

Firehawk, Flight of Fear, and Backlot Stunt Coaster sometimes assign seats, but when they do, they assign seats for everyone. There are no rides that assign seats only for Fast Lane users. (There are also no coasters on which Fast Lane users enter through the exit.) This Saturday will be extremely packed because of the weather and because it is Columbus Day weekend. I would not be surprised if the park hits capacity. Because of that, if you want to go out to your car mid-day, check with admissions associates or Guest Services first before you attempt to exit and re-enter; if the park is at capacity, you might not be allowed back in even with a handstamp. I'm not sure how KI operates admissions when at capacity, though, so you may want to ask at Guest Services when you arrive rather than trusting me. If you buy tickets and Fast Lane online, your printed admission e-ticket can be taken straight to the turnstiles. Your Fast Lane voucher should then be taken to the Fast Lane sales booth inside the park to the left of the entrance, where they will scan it and issue you your wristband. Be aware that as of last year, Fast Lane online purchases were blocked out the day before, so buy it tonight. Or you can buy it when you arrive, as there is no discount for buying Fast Lane online like there is for admission tickets. Best food IMO would be Hank's Burrito Shack (similar prices to Chipotle outside the park) and the Reds Hall of Fame Grille (KI's only table-service restaurant). Have fun! -
Now Jonathan, I resent that. Surely you can't say that my most recent Instagram picture sucks! I think it captures the spirit of everything Instagram is about! (Interpret that statement however you wish) Yep, I'm pretty sure Instagram was well-known for people uploading pictures of their meals. Not sure how true that remains today.
