  1. Are there any parades this year or is it just for Winterfest?
  2. It might’ve just been a timing thing. I’m sure there’s a lot of projects around the park that they’ve wanted to get done that have been placed on the back burner for some time. Maybe someone finally decided that they were tired of looking at an old building that hadn’t been really used for years.
  3. Considering it’s been talked about a few times on here and people have been posting pictures and videos on KI related social media pages, I thought I’d mention it on here that it does indeed look like there is activity in the Wolfpack building. I’m not sure how to share footage from Facebook but on Kings Island Uncensored, they had the lights on and were working when it was darker out. I assume it’s being gutted by staff for removal but nothing has been confirmed by the park. Edit: I was able to find a link: https://m.facebook.com/groups/kingsislanduncensored/permalink/1468539920635173/?mibextid=l2pjGR
  4. I think a “grown up” version of Woodstock Whirlybirds would be cool but maybe in the form of a people mover for grandparents to ride with their grandkids through different scenes. Basically I want to copy Magic Kingdom’s People Mover and have it run through A72
  5. It’s not impossible to find two of the same attraction at parks around the globe, we saw this with the Antique Cars behind the Eiffel Tower as well as when Cedar Point used to have two car rides, two Dumbo rides at Magic Kingdom, you get the idea… What is one ride that would be a practical candidate for duplicating on a similar scale? My immediate thought went to the Flying Eagles.
  6. I missed seeing this. It would be cool if it was brought back somehow in a bigger way
  7. Given that it sat as a haunt building for nearly as long as it was a former station, I don’t read much into stuff like that anymore. If anything the building might open back up for haunt or it’s used for some type of storage.
  8. Water parks are kinda tricky in my opinion for a number of reasons: Competition (or lack there of): Soak City doesn’t really have any immediate competition if you think about it. Sure you have Great Wolf Lodge next-door, Land of Illusion not too far away, then you have Coney Island, which is 20 miles away, but those don’t necessarily pull people away from KI. Climate: This is a hit or miss with all seasonal attractions but it weather can have a longer negative impact considering most water parks in the Midwest are only open 3-4 months out of the year. Capacity: Depending on the attraction, you will almost always see inferior capacity when compared to dry park attractions. Most slides only allow one rider at a time (unless it’s a tube slide) which can increase wait times for guests. Now none of this is to say that you can’t invest in your waterpark, but I think additions have to address the issues I listed above: low investment, not limited to weather, and high capacity. Multi-level play structures seem like a safe investment considering they check off all the boxes I mentioned previously. In addition I don’t think it would necessarily hurt to have two “lazy rivers” in a water park.
  9. @IBEW_Sparky, I’ve never been to WoF and would definitely go if I was in the KC area…that being said it doesn’t seem like a “must visit” park. I appreciate their want to preserve their history and keep their steam engine going but from an amusement park standpoint it doesn’t seem to have the same affect as other parks in the Midwest. Then I see stuff like this be fans and it confuses me:
  10. I said this a while ago but it was a missed opportunity IMO not to rebrand Invertigo to Screamin Demon when they rebranded Flight Deck to The Bat and debuted Banshee in 2014. A repaint wouldn’t have been necessary considering some of the old Demon logo was blue-ish:
  11. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but it’s just trolling at this point. Several threads have been derailed preaching of a CP over KI supremacy. Instead of contributing and having meaningful conversations, it’s just a rehash of the same rant that’s been going on for years. Some people just can’t help themselves and want all the attention, which is unfortunately what we’re giving into as we speak.
  12. This statement aged like fine wine
  13. What does any of this have to do with Adventure Port?
  14. Not trying to be “that person” but it’s been three years since Orion came out and eight years since Fury 325 came out. The constant complaints about how much money is spent on what attractions are getting old.
  15. Could they possibly get the Skyrocket II Zombie ride from Mexico that closed not too long ago?
  16. It’s not something that’ll get fixed overnight, that’s for sure. You also have to look at how much attention is on the park when it comes to this type of behavior. You might have a few weeks of calmness, then groups of individuals get into an altercation which gets the attention of local news agencies and paints the park in a negative light. Also with social media influencing these meetups and people being able to livestream these incidents, there’s not a whole lot that can be done ahead of time. I often wonder if it’s incidents like these that will influence what type of attractions we get in the future. Will the park decide to opt for more family friendly attractions in attempt to keep families in as opposed to larger, more intense attractions geared towards teenagers?
  17. It’s not a far fetched assumption though: https://www.incrediblecoasters.com/SteelVengeancePhotos.html https://coasterforce.com/iron-gwazi-opens-at-busch-gardens-tampa/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zadra_(roller_coaster) Upon my internship I saw a piece of wood dangling from SV and reported it. Carpentry came out and stated that was not integral to the ride’s structure and was just left over wood that was kept on from MS. They still shut the ride down and drilled the wood back in place but it didn’t seem like an urgent issue but likely would’ve looked odd to anyone who saw a piece of wood dangling. Again this was just a conversation I had so take it how you will.
  18. I’m not discounting the potential maintenance issues but you also have to look at 2018. Cedar Point ordered a hybrid with new trains, a first of its kind hybrid hyper with new trains and a first of its kind single rail. Not only that, but having interned there myself, I talked to carpentry and they said that a lot of the original Mean Streak structure was not removed when they converted the ride to Steve Vengeance. Of course I don’t have any source to back up my claim but if you want evidence that it’s accurate, compare Steel Vengeance to Iron Gwazi or Zadra where they are all about the same in height but have significantly different support styles. I’m not discounting the issues that the chain encountered with RMC, but I often remind myself what they asked RMC to do in one season; new technology across three of their parks is a pretty tall order.
  19. After reviewing how much RMC charges for their coasters, it does somewhat shock me that we don’t see more of them in the Cedar Fair chain. They don’t all have to be on par with Steel Vengance but the one at Funspot in GA cost $13,000,000 and it’s 3,400ft of track. Heck Zara cost $2,000,000 more than that and it tops 200ft in height and is only about 1,000ft longer.
  20. I’ve thought of that as well. If the pandemic didn’t hit, I’m sure the timeline would’ve been 2024 considering that we lost two coasters and gained one from 2018-2020. On top of the pandemic, I’m sure the Dragster incident changed a lot of things up. Cedar Point can’t really afford to have a ride that size SBNO for multiple seasons with how heavily they rely on destination travelers. We can afford to have a 5 year gap in our coaster lineup- we did it before from 2009-2014. In theory having two Ohio coasters installed in back to back seasons could prove beneficial. The rebranded TTD is going to be a massive project so what we get won’t be anything of that magnitude, however, having two new additions within a year a part of one another on opposite sides of the state might encourage more travel from people in neutral areas.
  21. I think a daytime parade similar to HalloWeekends would be cool. I also thought using the waterpark was a good way to spread guests out but I understand why it was short lived.
  22. You’re right, I mixed up the years.
  23. My favorite timeline was 2017-2020: 2017: New coaster 2018: General park improvements 2019: Family ride + general park improvements 2020: New Coaster If at least one or two seasons between large additions is geared towards general improvements around the property, I would be happy.
