  1. I thought I read somewhere that BGW might be operating year round so that might force Cedar Fair's hand with KD.
  2. Compared to the other Paramount parks that were acquired by Cedar Fair, Kings Dominion has been on the short end of the stick. KI, Carowinds, and Canada's Wonderland got big additions under Cedar Fair while KD seemed to be going backwards.
  3. Only time will tell if we ever see a "reaction" from Kings Island and Cedar Fair. I've said this religiously but KK and take away from the Louisville and even Lexington market which is 2 of the 6 major cities KI pulls from. Not that people would stop traveling to KI from the Kentucky cities but their trips might be less frequent. The thing is, I don't know what Herschend would give Kentucky Kingdom in terms of rides. If they go too big, like a B&M dive or something of that size, they run the risk of competition from Kings Island. I think they're better off getting smaller rides in order to survive competing with KI. They might be more on par with Holiday World as their competitor.
  4. Is this a Herschend thing or has this been in the works for a while?
  5. The way I see it, one park is adding rides and thriving while another is closing rides and and falling. If Cedar Fair wants this park to succeed, I think they should look at Mack for KD. They could give them a powersplash which BGW doesn't have and maybe go with a Mack or Gerstlauer spinner. Anything to give them a competitive edge. I'm sorry to say it but if I was given the opportunity to visit one Virginia park, I would choose BGW in a heartbeat
  6. I think KD is going to transition to be the discount park for a while until they get their footing back. They removed their best coaster and have been removing or closing some of their smaller ones during the past decade. That rumored B&M wing might help KD but BGW is years ahead of them in my opinion. Though its been spread out through other Sea World parks, I think Tempesto was intentional. A Premier Skyrocket II would have been perfect for KD during the 2010s but BGW beat them to it, which is partially why I think KD chose to aquire a S&S 4d freespin; not just because it spins like the Crypt but to beat BGW to something.
  7. Unfortunately though they have no cushion. Love them or hate them, B&Ms provide cushions for parks so they can push themselves further. If something happens to Cheetah Hunt, BGT has Montu, Kumba, and Sheikra. If something happens to Pantheon, BGW has Apollo's Chariot, Alpengeist, and Griffon. KD only has Dominator Pretty much. Notice how after the Paramount buy, Cedar Fair gave us three.
  8. With Six Flags Great Adventure unveiling their seasonal Dinosaur Attraction, I began to think about our old attraction, "Dinosaurs Alive." Hypothetically speaking, Kings Island and Cedar Fair could have really capitalized on the whole Dinosaur thing and made it better than it was. Imagine for a moment that Kinzel wanted to go all out with this Dinosaur concept. Again this is all hypothetical. First off I think it would have been neat if DA had its own entrance This would be advantageous for a few reasons: Admission would be cheaper. Even though DA was $5 to get in, that was on top of already paying park admission. You could make money off of people who don't want to go into the main park. A solo dinosaur park with $20 admission might be appealing to school groups, summer camps, families, etc. Secondly, I would make it more than just Dinosaurs. Much like how Disney and Universal have their separate parks, I would replicate that on a much smaller scale. I would include a few buildings for food, merch, exhibits, and so on. Basically make it a permanent attraction vs temporary. I'm sure there would be more to add to this but I'm just brainstorming ideas to something that was done in a temporary fassion.
  9. I feel sorry for KD. It always feels like the clause that BGW had with B&M really hurt KD down the road.
  10. I honestly think that would be cool where the barnyard is.
  11. Be careful what you wish for... https://www.rockymtnconstruction.com/family-hybrid-coasters/
  12. You're repeating yourself
  13. Its reminiscent of when SOB was SBNO for three years which made Banshee's payoff a lot better all those years later. Vortex's land will sit vacant for a while and people will talk and speculate what'll go there. The good thing is we finally have our giga so people will *hopefully tone it down some and not fly off the handle with guesses considering we're missing a traditional sitdown multi looper. *I know I was asking a lot there when I said that hopefully people will tone it down.
  14. Especially when there's already vacant space. If you ever visit r/kingsisland you have people putting B&Ms in literally every green space
  15. IMO wing coasters have become saturated in our region; we have four within 5 hours of our own park. The only way a wing coaster works, again IMO, is if its gimmicky. A compact wing with a ton of near miss elements, like you see with X-Flight at Six Flags Great America, is the only type of wing coaster I would ever want to see at KI.
  16. I believe it was a city thing because CGA went through a ton of legal issues when Marriot tried to sell off their parks. I believe a company wanted to purchase their land for real estate which the city didn't want. I'm sure the California park was seen as baggage yo Six Flags where as the Chicago-Milwaukee park was more appealing
  17. I'm not for removing Timberwolf. Once something is gone, its hard to bring back. I'd rather them fix it up and make it work vs demolishing it. We don't need a coaster on every vacant piece of land. Most music venues are downtown over 20 miles away so there's enough distance for it to work. Its not like Dave Matthews would stop playing at Riverbend to go to Timberwolf. KI could host their own music festival and bring in people who are looking for their big break.
  18. I think it worked out. SFA already has the exact same coaster so it wouldn't have made sense to have two right by each other. Plus, they needed a high capacity coaster that had good uptime.
  19. Time will only tell how the 20s will be
  20. Please don't derail this thread. I feel like this park is transitioning in terms of how they operate. They're not really competing in any capacity
  21. A while ago a made a very bland poll asking members which park has the best B&M collection. I'm updating it and basically including parks that have three or more. Don't worry, I was planning on doing one for Intamin as well as other large manufacturers also.
  22. I wonder if this was planned pre covid or if this was something they cooked up during the 2020 season. It fits in line with the company's desire for more interactive, experience based attractions
  23. I'm honestly surprised more people haven't been talking about this. The park is called "Lost Island" https://wcfcourier.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/zoning-hearing-set-for-lost-island-theme-park/article_f7d2a416-fab6-5cf9-aa49-ff7ed99bb418.html
  24. I purposfully didn't include La Ronde since they have a coaster of a similar design. I doubt Magic Mountain will ever get a 4d coaster after Green Lantern's failure.
