Six Flags and Cedar Fair Merge
disco2000 replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Yeah and we see companies go thru this cycle - they decide to diversify in the event one sector is down, hopefully another sector is up. As such GE was involved in lots of business sectors. GE's current direction appears to be to focus on aviation only. And that will work until it doesn't, and then they restart the cycle of venturing out into other sectors again LOL. -

While that may be true, once a corporation gets too big, the bean counters start to use different metrics. They may decide on a gross revenue number threshold and get rid of any park under that number regardless of their profitability margin. Many corporations get rid of product lines that are no longer "a strategic fit" but are very profitable. Look at P&G as an example. Over the last 10 years, they sold off over half of their brands, many of them profitable product lines, as they were no longer a strategic fit moving forward - AKA the annual revenue was below an arbitrarily set threshold. Duracell is a $2Billion/year unit that is very profitable that P&G sold off. If it wasn't, Warren Buffet wouldn't have bought it. GE is another. They sold off their profitable appliance division many years ago. So while you can still buy a GE appliance, it is actually built by someone else and the terms of the sale allowed them to continue to use the GE name for X number of years. GE is currently going through another restructuring and will be selling off their profitable healthcare line. So just because a smaller park enjoys some of the highest profit margins in the company doesn't make it immune to being sold off or otherwise liquidated. -

It could happen under CF...just look at CGA as that is essentially what happened. -

So a major SIX shareholder opposes, but do they have enough shares...could this be interpreted as they think the land itself is worth more as something else than a park and should just sell off underperforming parks to developers. https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20231102687497/en/Significant-Six-Flags-Shareholder-Land-Buildings-Issues-Statement-on-the-Company’s-Proposed-Merger-with-Cedar-Fair?fbclid=IwAR0JC09AOH2kxbq0SzwmFCiV51PN9hN44GNH1XBDlFsYCWRomXXqgXGk9us -

Improve one coaster without altering the layout

Once SIX slaps the K-Mart sponsor sticker on Orion, they can add the rotating blue light to the top of the lift hill to inform guests that the queue line is under 15 minutes -
Timberwolf removed for a Larson Looper. I hear those are popular with SIX

Does anyone remember the state of the park the final years of the Paramount years.... -

Would it be ok if they slapped sponsor stickers on the rides but kept the ride names the same. Like K-Mart on Orion trains. -

But if turning the SIX parks comes at a cost of diverting money to said parks, KI doesn't win in that situation. We already saw CF do that with KI this year, now we have even more underperforming parks to worry about. Which pricing structure for passes and daily do they take on moving forward as that will be a key driver into the intent? Obviously no change to 2024. We may start to see it transition in 2025, but probably won't see a better picture moving forward 2026 when they try to fully incorporate/consolidate the season pass structure. -

And folks thought the new season pass structure was difficult to follow this year? Wait until SIX and CF try to figure out how to combine/simplify/etc. the pass process moving forward LOL. -

Since it won't be official and closed and all that good stuff until early 2024, it wouldn't surprise me if they wait until 2025, but then again who knows, they might want to get that spending going early. If they do allow folks that have a pass from either chain to visit the other in 2024, then that sucks for those that bought passes to both and folks that bought the more expensive CF pass. Caveat emptor -

They take the name six flags, each company is represented equally on the board of directors, CF unitholders don't get a vote on this, and CF is 51.2% owner - while it is a majority, it isn't a large one. With the board of directors being equal, all it takes is one CF director to align with SIX on a vote, discussion, etc. -

And certainly they knew this before season passes started to go on sale....Would this have changed peoples purchasing decision - waited/skipped, etc. Caveat emptor -
If they opened it back up as TTD, people will still have flocked to it. While it was a terrible accident, there has been deaths on rides that re-opened and people still got in line to ride it.

CP Halloweekends & Castaway Bag Trip 10/26- 10/27.
disco2000 replied to Tr0y's topic in Trip Reports
Speaking of heavily geared toward little kids, based on all the Haunt pictures on social media, it appears Haunt is geared towards little kids, so they might as well keep Planet Snoopy open LOL No, I haven't added them up so it is strictly my observation, but it appears the number of posts on social media of selfies with the scare actors and posts about how sweet there were to the little ones outnumbered the posts where people said they were scared LOL -
Yes it is and I really thought they would have used that when this was announced as it would be far left and not where all the foot traffic is going. But the "problem" would be that area is currently used as the smoking area for Haunt, but the smoking section is something they could relocate.

If they sell 12,300 more gold passes than they did this year, they would have that money LOL

Haven't you learned by now that it only gives you access to the facility and they can do whatever they want (cross threading) -
How much land does Kings Island have to expand on?
disco2000 replied to TheBEASTunchained's topic in KI Polls
They had way more than they do now. A prior owner sold a lot of it off. A lot of the undeveloped land they still have left are steep ravines and protected stream corridors, so the actual acreage they have that they could develop on is even less. -
Sadly it has been like that most of the year. There is plenty they could do - staff the entrance to not allow non prestige in, better signage and fencing, and don't direct people from other lines over. Simply another broken benefit. Why even offer it at this point.
