John Materese did a report...I am sure someone will make the joke... https://www.wcpo.com/news/local-news/kings-islands-the-bat-closed-after-a-wheel-came-loose-while-in-motion-ride-formerly-known-as-top-gun

The sensors were replaced on The Beast and additional programming happened. It is common for a ride to experience these "breakdowns" after that happens. They are not really breakdowns more than the sensors faulting and needing adjusted. It has been getting less and less as the season has progressed.

Looks like something I see at Kroger making it fresh for everyone

I don't think anyone here has said they think The Bat is done for the rest of this year because of this incident. Rather, they are saying they are concerned that with its age and frequent downtime and track needing to be replaced that this or next season may be its last. Unless the damage is more extensive than the one section, it will be repaired and running in a couple of days to a week. The last replaced segment earlier this month was down for two days to fix.
-
De-railing due to an external object is much different than failure of a component of the ride itself as it approaches its useful life timeline...granted the wheel in question is not original, but could a failure of the track caused the wheel to come off or did the wheel cause the damage.... The Bat has had several issues this year and that certainly plays into the decision. This won't be the first stretch of tube track replaced just this month...

"The rules don't apply to me. I don't care that it is posted EVERYWHERE. I am special." They probably give the police a one star review for being given a speeding ticket and not getting a warning

Availability of parts is not the issue. Steel can only go through so many stress cycles before it is to the point of reaching its design and useful life. Welds suffer from fatigue of thousands of train cycles over the years. The cost to start replacing worn out steel and fatigued welds is usually more than the cost of a new coaster. Doesn't mean a park won't go to the expense of doing extensive repairs, but most see the coaster end when that time comes. Wood coasters are constantly having maintenance done and it is a lot easier to replace wood sections than it is sections of a steel coaster. A stretch of the tubular track was replaced a couple of weeks ago. There are still replacement sections left. The damaged section of tubular track done by this can certainly be replaced, but an investigation needs to be done to see if any other damage was done other than the visible damage one can see of the track. @CorkscrewMcPuke it was a light day after the park and weather had ran people out, so there just were not a lot guests back there at the time. And if those there are not on social media, it won't get out online like it can on a busy Saturday...but I am positive it is out there if you look hard enough....

The area is now flat and gravel - could it be parking/staging area for the equipment and performers coming in to Timberwolf?
-
The batmobile lost a wheel...and the joker got away
-
Yes it is. Maybe they are adding a FastLane line to Timberwolf Or would it be FastLane PLUS lol. There is active construction within Timberwolf adding steps and walkway to the VIP area, so that is probably what @IndyGuy4KI heard.

For being a light crowd today, we had lots of inconsiderate guests. Guests vaping while on rides and in no-wait queue lines and vaping/smoking in other areas of the park. Seemed higher than normal for a light Tuesday. A guest exited the Congo boat and proceeded to walk along the concrete channel despite repeated loud announcements by the ride op to get back in the boat. Finally got back in where the fence is at going back into the station. Usually the Saturday stuff, not a random low crowd Tuesday. Fortunately no reports of Snoopy being left locked in a car in the parking lot. But yes, as others reported, most rides were fairly short waits today.

Yes she does, but so do Eli and Dewey in the segment! Maybe they are silent members here?

That video has been running since last year.

It opened around 1pm.

New track and new sensors so there are always bugs. The downtime is getting less as the season goes on. I have not felt any potholes. Are you sure it wasn't a perceived bump due to the trim brake catching harder than your previous rides? I have experienced a little "jump" based on the trims catching a little harder that are probably a result of the train hitting the track more abruptly than gliding over with less trim and letting the upstop wheels do their thing.

Diamondback operated on Sunday. It had some Father's Day activities in the morning and got a late start

Guest leaves dog in 110+ degree car to go to KI
disco2000 replied to disco2000's topic in Kings Island
^Just like the warnings to an individual guest about not recording on rides or not smoking....I cannot tell you how many repeat offenders I have seen do that. If they are not going to toss them immediately, at least take their name down and toss them when they are caught doing it again later that day. I have been walking with security before and their response has been only take a name if they get belligerent and confrontational...they are given some discretion and leeway in addressing the matter based on the circumstances. But I am sure many believe it should be a zero tolerance policy. -
He does it twice in one day and only gets a warning... "Since the owner left his dog inside of the hot vehicle twice in one day, Kings Island advised the owner he would not be welcomed back in the park for the rest of the day. The officer told the dog’s owner that if he returned and found the dog left alone inside of the locked car again, the owner would be charged with cruelty to animals, according to the police report." https://www.fox19.com/2022/06/20/owner-leaves-dog-inside-115-degrees-vehicle-while-visiting-kings-island-police-report/?fbclid=IwAR233Dp5_9DYsuGkFncnmUyuVoc_ertG_QQZwaKiPixJRImMCqjKpHKTo4Y

Eliminating Bring a Friend discount no doubt had an impact on the crowd size...as did people's past experiences with Father's Day crowds and staying away...so a lot came today The south end of the lot still has the row signs. Maybe not replacing the signs on the north side is a clue along with the land clearing nearby for a parking lot coaster

24 hours at Coney Island Cincinnati

Some of the videos I saw were crazy. -
Amazing that people don't know what fences and restricted area signs and do not climb signs mean..but also kinda surprised we don't see it more often... But back to the title of the thread lol. Kind of surprised the park isn't busier today.

^comedy act with a "kid", video of Evil Knieval jump...a good addition with connections to park history. Not the same show that Cedar Point had other than both had scooters, BMX, and tramp wall lol.
-
^can you report if the violators were escorted from the park?
-
Surveying and preliminary engineering does not require a permit. A zone change is not required, so the park could wait until final plans are produced and submit for permits then if it works with their schedule.
