  1. One would think that, but per cap spending is up a lot, as are season pass sales. More people have opted for stay-cations and thus hit the regional parks more than say a trip to Disney or another far away destination and are spending some of what they planned to spend on these items. I know plenty of people visiting the park more because of this, and I know many long-time Disney fans that gave up Disney visits this year and upgraded to CF Platinum and visited the reasonable driving distance parks instead. They also mentioned that attendance per operating day at the Company’s legacy parks is up 2% year to date, further showing people are staying closer to him and visiting regional parks instead. @BoddaH1994and Don even talk about that on their podcast that the trend the regional parks experience seem to not be as impacted and actually tend to do a little better when people decide to do stay-cations. They actually mentioned last month that thru July 4th, the attendance variance resulting from a slower recovery within the group sales channel has impacted total attendance, so it seems logical that the group/company outings are still down a month later, which is evident by visiting the park on a weekend and not seeing as many "Welcome XYZ" companies on the marque sign. They also mentioned 94 fewer operating days at the Company’s legacy parks due to a natural calendar shift and changes in early-season park operating schedules as part of the attendance decrease.
  2. In keeping up with The Beast and adding footage to it's world record length, the same will happen to Banshee
  3. On the earnings call today (8/3/22), record revenue continues for the year and are well above pre-covid 2019 numbers despite having 1 million less visitors, proving you can make money with fewer guests... Basically they are setting records for everything but attendance. But that decline is probably mostly contributed to outings that haven't returned in full-force since covid. And of course, after that announcement of attendance down, the unit price is now down... I would take higher revenue with fewer guests than more guests and declining revenue per cap, which was the trend leading up to covid. Per cap numbers were declining leading up to covid, but now they are at a record per cap spending, up 26% over 2019. In-park per capita spending is $60.76. Reinstatement of unit-holder distribution and authorization of program to repurchase up to $250 million units indicates the strong position they are now in.
  4. Glad you actually saw security come based on your text. I know many that have texted with no result. Sadly do you think it stopped her from doing again elsewhere in the park? Do you think they took her name to know if another security guard catches her later so she could be escorted from the park? Personally I think they should have done more. At a minimum she should be pulled from the line and probably should be tossed from the park. Only then when word gets out of zero tolerance will we start to see behavior change by all but the most rotten apples. Sadly I have seen the same person get stopped 3 times on the same day, each by a different security person, for smoking in the park. Sadly the person is also a passholder based on the all season drink cup he carries around and further would be a recognizable figure by many people... Further, I have seen him smoking and being stopped by security on multiple different days....including passholder preview day... I actually talked to security after I saw them tell him of the policy for the 3rd time and I was like "This is the 3rd time I have seen security stop him just today for smoking" and they just kinda shrugged their shoulders and told me they reminded him. Some things need a zero tolerance, and especially a passholder that should know better. But sadly, if they only issue a warning when someone leaves a dog in their car in 110+ heat, I guess vaping in line isn't a priority...
  5. At this point it could be for anything. Maybe something as simple as surveying where to put up a metal fence and remove the wood fence to open up the view of Banshee from that vantage point or it could be for a future attraction like an expanded VIP lounge to go along with a new pass offering....
  6. Now a McDonald's is getting in on the action.... https://www.timesnownews.com/viral/this-mcdonalds-outlet-has-banned-all-under-18s-from-entering-after-5-pm-knowwhy-article-93247331
  7. Strictly for the blocking. If for some reason there is a delay in the station due to getting someone on/off the ride and the train ahead has already passed the second lift, then the 1st hill goes up at the normal "faster" speed. Sit in the left hand seat near the beginning of the train and watch the 2nd lift hill. As soon as the train ahead of you is completely off the chain and the last car passes the 2nd camera you will speed up on the first hill. So that spot of speeding up is basically dictated on the dispatch time of the train in the station. A slower dispatch time and you start going faster sooner. A faster dispatch and you will go slower longer. In recent past it would go normal speed and then slow down at the top of the first hill if it needed to for blocking purposes, but the reprogramming this year changed it to our current
  8. Bingo LOL. That is where some survey markers are showing up.

  11. A slide in the waterpark caught fire last night and the waterpark is closed today, but the dry side is open. https://globalnews.ca/news/9028834/slide-fire-canadas-wonderland-waterpark/
  12. It was vague for a reason LOL....someone posted "while there have been no markers anywhere to my knowledge", so I was just letting them know that their post is inaccurate as that does help the conversation as they put out inaccurate information. I thought this was also a speculation thread and I guess nobody likes a good scavenger hunt anymore LOL? Should we just cut right to the chase and say the next improvement is XXXXX lol. I wanted to see if anyone else had seen them and simply didn't post about it yet, but I guess not LOL. Maybe someone can sling a shot in the air guess as to where the markers may be hiding...
  13. How many times do you need to be told.... A policy against race is discrimination and illegal. A policy prohibiting minors is not discrimination and is not illegal. In fact, employer law says age discrimination is only for age 40 and over. A policy on age impacts EVERYONE regardless of race or nationality or sex or any other protected class. A policy on race only impacts that race. That is where discrimination comes in. Whether you agree or not is your opinion, but it is the law. Re-read the Knott's policy....Chaperones must accompany their party during entry, remain with their party at all times during their visit to the park, and be available by phone throughout their stay. It is a grey area and poorly worded, but one could argue that available by phone means they just need to be in the park because why else would they need to be available by phone if they are all together? And times have changed, so comparing something x number years ago to now is different....when KI opened they didn't have to worry about flying phones on rides as an example... Laws, policies, regulations come into effect as technology and society behavior change that warrants a need for said policy.
  14. Keep looking...there are some survey markers within the park that showed up in the past week...
  15. The only reason they are typically closed those weekends in September are due to private parties. Usually when a company backs out, the day would be added to the operating calendar. So if GE, P&G, Toyota, etc. decide not to host events for their employees at the park, then yes we could see that happen. But I suspect the park would prefer the guarantee income from the private party and would push for those to continue and not try to force those companies out simply to add public operating days to the schedule. The bigger question will be do we see them extend operating days and offerings in some form or fashion in the historical true "off-season" of January thru April, along with the weekends in November before Winterfest starts....

    Stolen Bag

Did you get back all of your belongings or were things missing?
  17. I totally agree LOL. It is why I worded it the way I did. It could be the spin they are putting on it. One positive comment sent to the park can be used to say they have received positive feedback. Notice their statement said nothing about negative feedback...nor did it mention attendance comparisons or number of security calls for comparable before and after chaperone policy days. But as you correctly pointed out, this is a private business and an amusement park is not a right or a given, so they can implement whatever legally allowed policy they want. As a consumer, you can chose to spend your discretionary income there or elsewhere. The park believes that any lost revenue due to the policy will be offset by increased revenue due to guests coming that are in favor of said policy.
  18. I didn't make the assumption, the park did by implementing the policy... The park obviously has stats that suggest that it is the teens causing the largest percentage of problems. I agree with your statement "maybe it’s time for park security and if need be local police forces to take action rather than the laissez-faire approach seen in the parks. By action, I mean line jumping will get you thrown out, no exceptions, no kidding." In theory it sounds great, but the reality and practicality can prove difficult. The park has decided that security cannot be everywhere at every time, so they decided to implement a chaperone policy to potentially prevent it on the front end...much easier to enforce that policy at the front gate and deny entry and then because of that policy have the ability to stop any group in the park without a chaperone to confirm said chaperone is still on park premises than it is to staff, monitor and enforce no fights, line jumping, etc. policy within 300+ acres... Regarding the driving age, there have been talks about raising the age to 18 due to very things you outline... My point on the murders were that everyone involved (victim and perps) were 21 or under....so in all likelihood they were probably there in groups of people that would not have been present with a chaperone policy in place... But even if not, I was being a little sarcastic that given they were under 21, maybe the parks should go with no minors since they serve alcohol...thus my LOL on the end of my statement. Are there totally behaving minors in the park - absolutely. Are their mis-behaving adults in the park - absolutely. Rule-breakers come in all ages. But when the park analyzes that data and the majority of security calls are with minors, that is how and why they are targeted for policy and enforcement....
  19. Laws and rules and policies are almost always the result of someone doing something they shouldn't...it has been that way since the beginning of society.... Contrary to your opinion, the park has indicated the policy has been so well received that they have extended the policy to additional days... And your argument about being old enough to drive is kinda weak...In the states a child is considered a minor until their 18th birthday, so Knott's saying no minors is an acceptable policy. Your argument has tried to be used regarding at what age one can buy a pack of smokes and alcohol...At 16 they can drive alone to a store to purchase those, so does that mean they should be allowed to purchase smokes and beer? I am sure the metrics are showing a park full of families makes more money than unruly teens...Parks have been catering more to family events and some have even got rid of their respective Haunt events in favor of family-friendly events....You go where the money is... Now you want to add the murders at Wonderland into the mix - those arrested in both incidents were under 21, so maybe the policy should be adjusted to age 21 following your logic? Hey they serve alcohol, so no minors allowed LOL. And keep in mind, the security and polices put in place since these incidents should greatly reduce the risk of a gun or knife within the park itself. We get it, no place is 100% safe and stuff can always happen, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't have some law and order either. The best a business can do is adjust and evaluate and develop additional policies to try to prevent/minimize it the next time. Probably the biggest complainers are those that were the unruly ones anyway. If parents would actually parent their child and have discipline and consequences, then maybe this stuff wouldn't happen (well it still would because there is always that bad apple)... Here is a thread where some mom went to the news media saying "not my child" and her montage of images of her child at KI were rule breaking images (not of the incident in question, but did provide self-incriminating evidence alone that would be worthy of a ban)....

    Stolen Bag

This happens all the time. Like daily. People don't use lockers and then wonder why their stuff was stolen. But we have even seen stuff stolen from lockers where someone was able to see the code or they fall for the person saying "Hey I just used this locker and it still has over an hour on it if you wanna use it" routine... Usually what happens is they search thru it and take what they can and throw the remains in the trash. Some will discard it where the leftovers can be found. My friend found hers in a trash can in the nearest bathroom to where her stuff was stolen. But the trash would be long gone now, so unless they ditched it in the landscaping, you probably won't see it again.

  23. I learned today that Invertigo used to be Screamin Demon by one guest and later heard from another that Invertigo used to be King Cobra. I also learned today that Vortex was removed because someone died on it. Just for the record, none of this is true LOL.
