They already do your great points...Mason police, as well as park security, are in and out of the park and the parking lot quite frequently even before this all started, and have had a bigger presence and it still happens. And they have cameras in that area. In a statement, Kings Island confirmed surveillance video footage showed that a group of juveniles were verbally harassing a boy and his father Saturday evening around 8:10 p.m. Law enforcement summoned to the scene determined the father, who was picking up his son, was in possession of a firearm. However, Kings Island's statement said the man had a valid concealed carry permit and never brandished the firearm. As you said, you would just go off property to fight... so if the police were at an unrealistic ratio of 1 officer to every 10 guests LOL, then the delinquents will just go to Great Wolf Lodge parking lot or go down a little further to the next hotel like they did on May 22nd..... Usually these types are the ones that authority is not a deterrent and they have no qualms about mixing it up with a police officer as well and that is part of the adrenaline rush for them is can they do right under their nose and not get caught.

Yep all is good. The Bob Ross plush dolls stayed on Orion and the rides are tested with legless water dummies, so your kid will be fine. Look at all the kids over the years who had parents that had them wear platform shoes or stuff their shoes with stuff to make them reach the magical height and none of them flew out. There is a factor of safety inherent in the rider specs as well. Believe me, no park or manufacturer wants to be responsible for some little kid flying out because they just barely met the rider requirements. Keep in mind when rides like Racer and Beast opened, they were just buzz bars that didn't go down very far with no seatbelts and no middle divider. No little kid flew out of them. We had a lot of freedom in those seats back then. Now those rides have seatbelts, adjustable restraints to better fit to the person in the seat, and a middle divider so a single rider doesn't go sliding back and forth around turns. You know all the fun stuff when we were kids lol. And of course you will be sitting next to him probably holding on to his leg as well LOL. Enjoy the day. You will create memories for you and your son that will last a lifetime. These are the fun moments of going to the park. Enjoy them. Tell her to stay home if she will be a debbie downer

Six Flags $36Million Lawsuit Settlement
disco2000 replied to disco2000's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
So you all getting a nice big check then LOL. -
I think those porn shops simply look for recently expired domains and snatch them up hoping that if even 5% of those looking for the old site then partake in their offerings that they come out well ahead LOL. I have seen so many sites that turn into porn sites when a domain expires LOL.

Six Flags $36Million Lawsuit Settlement
disco2000 replied to disco2000's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
One would think that by simply purchasing the pass that they would have been informed of this, but then again someone getting a cup of coffee should know that "Caution: Contents are Hot" without the need for the label.... And as usual, who is the typical winner of these class action lawsuits - the attorneys getting a third of that settlement... Granted the passholders in this instance are getting $200, which is a lot more than I ever got from previous lawsuits like this. Usually it is like 25 dollars LOL. But this certainly will have an impact on capital expenditures. At $200 the passholders will take the money and run. If the settlement was $25, I think most would rather the lawsuit didn't happen and the park instead put that money into new rides? -
Or is it a further indicator that Haunt isn't returning as some suspect? Or it could be that attraction has ran it's course and will either be repurposed for another attraction or not used at all for Haunt? Stay tuned as someone once said...

Article doesn't say much about a situation last night (6/12)...but at the same time not every incident is newsworthy... https://www.wlwt.com/article/police-investigating-unruly-juvenile-behavior-at-kings-island-saturday-park-officials-say/36708876

Crowds are on the thin side for a Saturday, probably heat and inability to just jump over to Soak City to cool off is a deterrent to many. They knew @King Ding Dong wasn't there today, so they opened that Freestyle

Row 4 of Banshee does. The test seat out front has two belts - one for the other rows and one for the larger row.

Unfortunately, this isn't the first park fan site to shut down and unfortunately it won't be the last either. Social Media like Facebook and Reddit sites are taking over and has a bigger audience. It allows people to only have to use one platform for all of their interests instead of several. Personally, I find forums like this easier to navigate and find information. Facebook and Reddit is filled with dozens of the same questions every week as apparently the GP do not know how to use a search function LOL. How many posts per week does the KI Season Passholder page get asking the same thing: "What is the best day to go to the park"; "What are the wait times today"; "Should I get a Fast Lane for a Saturday"; "What are the hours of the park", etc. Certainly the layout and organization of a FB page contributes to the constant barrage of people creating new posts asking the same things over and over again, but it is clear very few people use the search function of FB before asking a question. Contrast that with a site like this that has a wait times thread, so it is easy to find and people can post and see right there. We don't have to scroll through dozens of the same question asked 50 different ways and 100's of responses to flip through. The layout and organization of a forum is generally better organized and easier to navigate and find what you are looking for, but apparently the GP likes them some FB lol. I don't know the numbers for this site, but my observation is that the number of new members and posts per year have probably gone down in recent years as the FB groups and Reddit sites have grown and people start going to those sites. They look at it as being able to get the same information as they can get here, but instead they can get it in one platform that they get information for all of their other interests and thus one less app or site to have to navigate and use. Hopefully this site is one that can continue to stick around in the ever changing landscape of social media opportunities to find information.

That in a week they will cut it again

Right now there are a ton of tripping hazards on the 50 feet platform. It has lighting wiring and other staging equipment, etc. Doesn't mean it cannot be done, but it isn't as easy as just opening the steps back up if ADA wasn't an issue.

calling @KIghostguy who has researched that topic extensively.

Just imagine if he was asked to be a ride operator for a day for $20/hour... At least at KI, it is not uncommon during the lower staffing periods (beginning of season and end of season) to see full-time employees like the PR folks, and even the GM, doing things like working the toll booths, sweeping up litter, and being a ride op! They all chip in where needed.

And not 100% of the land they own can be developed. Some of it is too steep, riparian zones, setbacks, cost prohibitive at the moment to gain access to some of these spots, etc. When was the last attraction added that needed significant additional infrastructure added to get guests to the area? The station for Orion and orientation was placed where it was as the pathways and infrastructure was already in place and was extended/added on to. Same with Banshee, Mystic Timbers, etc. Almost any new ride placed in the undeveloped areas would in all likelihood need new access created that would traverse under an existing ride, such as the access paths created for Flight of Fear and Action Theater. I am sure we could probably find a place to squeeze one in without that needed, but more than likely that would need to occur. Doesn't mean they will not expand into some of the wooded areas at some point, but building where infrastructure already exists is going to be more economical. As rides/attractions reach their end of service life or the ROI is of diminishing returns, additions will occur in those areas first. I think an improvement outside of the "developed area" of the park would coincide with a new themed area with multiple attractions added to it. Or they go with the X-Base concept LOL and it takes how many years to get it to where it is today with a restroom and food place!

Kings Island Camp Cedar to Open Spring 2021
disco2000 replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Especially when the KI PR person is the one making the announcements! Granted that is probably part of the contract that Small Brothers, LLC and Terra Firm Associates entered into with CF to manage Camp Cedar, but it will cause people to assume they are the same company. Without trying to sound mean, but why would someone plan a big event like that for opening weekend of a brand new facility? There are always so many unknowns and delays with construction, and the inevitable new facility operation issues until they get up to speed that would certainly impact a big event like this. It is one thing planning a stay for your own family and can alter plans when something like this happens. Reminds me of when you see a "new" restaurant open and the place is slammed over the first few days. I mean come on, Bob Evans was here and closed down and built a new one down the road that opened a few months later and everybody lost their minds to be one of the first to try the new location when it opened LOL. -
What will be interesting to see is how many people take advantage of the pass renewal in the fall after all that has happened as a result of the pandemic. Even though many of us believe that CF extending the passes for all of this year was far and above what they were required to do based on all the fine print when purchasing a pass, there are many that also believe they have got screwed in the deal. In the past, people purchased a pass in the fall for the following year based on good faith that the park hours, etc. would be the same as the past. I believe many people now will hold off on purchasing until they are ready to go to the park the following year. I think many will now wait until next year to purchase after they see the operating calendar, operating hours, and what the pass will get them. If too many end up doing this, we may see the passes in the spring be cheaper than the previous fall based on their typical operating model... I think because of this potential "threat", I believe the park will be aggressive in pricing strategy this fall to retain pass holders and lock their money up now instead of waiting until next year. Make it up on volume is their operating model. Put me in the "I do not think prices will raise" camp LOL, even though I think they should raise them...
