The thing I wonder is how Dinn’s version of the ride would have looked considering how many of Dinn’s coasters featured underbanked turns that created laterals.

Well, much of the info was discussed in Coasterstock 2015. Furthermore, it’s been well known that a near recreation of the Aeroplane was in the works.

In any industry, companies will know what their competitors are doing. Hence it is quite logical for a company to say we got project xyz because company A is working on said project.

That is conclusive. If a competitor said they got a project because their rival was to busy with projects x,y, and z, that’s a confirmation.

The fact Dinn had the KI contract meant that they couldn't bid for Fiesta Texas' new coaster: the Rattler. This comes from "RE: Rationale for Roller Coaster Corporation of America as Design Build Contractor for the Wooden Roller Coaster.", sent by John Hoover on October 19, 1990. This document was extremely useful in determining other projects, such as Opryland's coaster, which was nearly/almost contracted to CCI in the mid 90s.

It would have been interesting. I feel it would have carried the Rivertown theme quite well. Although the irony of an near Aeroplane clone in an area themed to the mid 1800s can not be missed.

That could work. I just want the places to be as safe as possible, when they reopen. That being said. The UV lights could be a very practical solution.

That’s true, however there are certain procedures that can be done by attractions to limit the spread, and I’ve seen none of those procedures pop up in proposed plans. In 2009 the H1N1 impacted many amusement park’s season by reducing attendance during the tail end of the Halloween season. Many parks were able regain their pre-virus attendance figures the following season, after widespread vaccinations. This case is different for parks, as this virus struck in the preseason, rather than the end of the season as seen in 09. It will be interesting to see what precautions will be taken. Of course parks would be opening when the virus is on the downswing, but we’ve seen states start their reopening plans while the number of cases are still increasing.

If they aren’t done, there’s no other alternative to ensure that nobody with COVID-19 is inside the park.

I know that the Lysol removal of viruses on surfaces is highly effective, and I can’t argue with a rare one off case of transmission. What I have concern about it not providing masks to guests. With this virus, everyone needs to wear a mask to limit transmission, or else everyone will be at significant risk of catching the Coronavirus. The issue with the masks and testing are most critical, as if it is not done properly, there will be a localized outbreak.

They have to make it as safe as possible then. Masks, procedures, testing, and other requirements need to be in place. In fact, if they’re not, you might have people catching the Coronavirus who didn’t even visit the park. Someone might pick it up at a grocery store, and later pass away, because some place didn’t protect against transmission in a particular way. Thats what happened in many of the parks in Japan as well. Apparently there were transmissions occurring at the park, where those people passed it to people who weren’t even at the park. Many of these parks have not reopened.

There’s quick tests for asymptomatic and visible carriers that can be done in 30 min. Well, the park is going to have to be 100% safe if it reopens up, they can’t allow the virus to be transmitted at all at the parks. Here’s the thing, if they do not do the COVID-19 precautions properly, people will die, and worst case scenario is having a city-wide or multi-state outbreak being linked to the park.

Here’s the flaw in most of the reopening plans, as of this moment they’re targeting those with current symptoms rather than ensuring that nobody inside the park would have COVID-19. Parks are trying to do temperature checks-that is going to end in disaster because they’re not checking for asymptomatic individuals. They indicate they’ll be cleaning throughout the day - at what interval? A person that is asymptomatic may take a seat in an assigned coaster seat, and leave the active virus on the ride seat and lap bar. If they clean every few cycles you’re going to be having transmissions that will be traced to the park. Food and Drink - lets be honest they’re likely going to be having employees pour the drinks this year. However, if an individual who is asymptomatic hands the worker their souvenir cup, without taking their gloves off, they might be transmitting the virus to everyone who orders from that location. The plans suggested only masks for workers. This again will be a mess. The rate of transmission ,with asymptomatic carriers not wearing a mask, is 70%. This is for people wearing masks! With both parties wearing masks, the rate of transmission is 1.5%. When the parks open, they have to provide everyone with N95 masks, or else, the park will become a hot spot for transmission. Do I think it’s good that the parks are looking at ways of dealing with COVID-19: Yes. Do I think the plans proposed are acceptable and efficient in dealing with COVID-19: Far from it.

Stay at home order extended to May 29th.

Here’s the thing, there will likely be no large groups of people until vaccines can be tested, proven to be effective on nearly all of the population, distributed, and administered. Now, a park can administer safeguards (COVID-19 tests, social distancing, constant cleaning, limited capacity for rides, mobile ordering, no or limited shows, etc). At what point does this hinder the in-park experience in the mind of the guest? Furthermore, is it sustainable profit wise?

I’m not trolling. I’m being serious, since there were some reports out of SK of reinfection. Until they come out with a peer-reviewed medical journal showing properties of this new coronavirus, nothing can be assumed.
