This for some reason reminds me of Reading Rainbow.

a real glockenspiel with projected seasonal projections would be better.

I wouldn't say it is Apples to Oranges, KI and Magic Kingdom. Yes Disney is open-year round, but I would argue that still many of their employees are still seasonal. Training is still a factor, getting a non-seasonal management team for a location would make a big difference but that is something KI would be unable to do, unless they opted to actually keep the manager of the locations on staff for the entire year and spending the off-season in seminars and cooking training. That only alleviates some of the issue. That being said, dropping any amount of money on food that has clearly been sitting a long time is disheartening. When I worked fast food, fries that were out more than 10 minutes needed to be tossed. KI does not appear to have that same rule, things only get worse when the fries are sitting on a steamer table, not a dry heated pan with a hot lamp. Being an armchair coach is easy however. Retrofitting all the food locations with equipment standard enough to use for seasonal changes, yet specific enough for keeping each item as good as it can be is expensive. Training is expensive. Everything is expensive, and this is at a scale I wouldn't be able to wrap my head around. I'll finish this up by stating, I do mystery shops. I do a couple each year at Kings Island actually, I have yet to see a shop for food. I know multiple companies run them in this area, so I might not participate in the one Cedar Fair uses for Food or they might not exist. I lean towards the latter, and if that is true, I think having non-biased standardized results can be helpful.

I, for one, am looking forward to many new opportunities to try more versions of the same cold hamburger and new ways to say "why is this place closed?".
-
Why can't Cedar Fair just install coasters in my literal backyard?!?!

I am actually OK with Skyline being there, while it isn't international it is regional specific. We are used to it, but it is something unique-ish to Cincinnati for out of towners. Same for LaRosa's, it is a Cincinnati Pizza. Build-A-Bear can be found all over the country. The souvenir shops are at least somewhat specific to Kings Island so it sort of fits as well. Theme-ing wise International Street would look cool if each block actually lent itself to different regions, German, French, Italian, that sort of thing. Shopping wise I'd be happy to just see things that are actually unique to an area of some sort.

I tried the Pig Pen Burger and got exactly what I expected. A cold burger, unmelted cheese, old onion rings, and some limp lettuce

YOU HAVE ENTERED THE FORBIDDEN BIERGARTEN, NOW, YOU, WILL, DRINK!!!

I'd be really happy with plain smoked bacon, I do not like sugar cured/maple bacon on a burger.

They said families can get closer to the pools than before, hopefully that doesn't mean taking out the trees

I was close to getting the RHoF Buffet tonight, but then realized I'd have to pay full price for my 4 year old to eat half a roll and say she was full. One day!

Re-Visiting the Story of the Kings Island/Jungle Jim's Monorail
Stoan replied to Gordon Bombay's topic in Kings Island
Fairfield Jungle Jim's has been renovating the storage building. Added a new shed, and started clearing some of the land around the station. I wonder if they are gearing up to start doing some more stuff with the monorail there. -
Kielbasa and pierogies were surprisingly good at Festhaus. The Toybox show also kept my kids entertained through the entire thing, couldn't get their eyes off the stage.

I call it The Wreckoning. I will redownload to delete apps I only use every so often. Auntie Anne's doesn't last more than a few minutes on my phone, I've probably downloaded it a dozen times, while standing in line.

What a day at WinterFest (assaulted, ridiculed, and more, LOL)
Stoan replied to way29's topic in Kings Island
Like a gentleman! I have an insulin pump, it almost always beeps. I also almost always have a multitool on and have forgotten to take it off a number of times. I've gotten into the park with it before I remember as well. Normally I check it, but some of their security protocols could be tightened. Not that I'd like yet another line to wait in, I appreciate the forethought on safety. -
I went on Saturday, it was almost empty at 5pm. But once the lights turned on, it got packed. There was 2 people in line at Larosa's when we got to the park, there was 40 in line at Smokehouse around 7pm. Kiddie Land was surprisingly un-crowded, the arts and crafts area looks like it got upgraded from coloring pages to little foam construction kits for Peanuts. One of my girls made Snoopy's dog house, the other made a pop-up present. I'm looking forward to trying some of the other offerings, Smokehouse had porkloin which looked really nice.

What if we did a hyperloop?

Better idea!!! What if they buy a really big drone, and fly a bus with employees across the park!!! I think they should just give them all those old go-karts they used to have where Banshee is.

Double station Giga? Employees only though.

It should be simple to just add a screen to scan "Entitlements". Gold Pass, Wristbands, Drink Cups, all of them at once. Then the next should should tell you which apply and if not why. Then let you cancel out, or continue moving forward. Pick your food, pick your drink all that jazz, final screen should confirm order making note of your discounts. Then confirm AND PAY or cancel. The cashier should be a glorified box checker and guide. Who again, should be flanked by the kiosks, or simply stand behind them with the drink dispenser next to them if they are worried about the pennies they will lose in stolen soda. Being told "declined" when scanning my gold pass is a useless bit of information. Did I scan it wrong, and I in-between timers, have I over used it, do I not have the plan on this one?
-
I see why they did the order kiosks, but they really should have put them flanking the cashier. That way the employee can assist with questions without the person essentially having to leave the line to inquire. They can also just direct you to where you need to go. But aside from that, the kiosks are not very well designed, they can be improved on the flow of actions immensely.

The tri-tip has been the saving grace for me at CBBQ. Ribs are a backup, luckily I can eat both cold without much loss. I'd be super happy if they actually had fresh wings there like at island smokehouse. The chicken is nice, but it looks like they aren't cooking it as long as earlier in the year. It used to have a nice crust and color, now it looks sad and lightly browned. Pulled pork doesn't have enough smoke to save it from the watery puddle it sits in. All the sides are throw aways for me. I was excited for the corn, but the turnover for it is so slow it's just cold and wet.
