What Else Do You Want To Come Back?
purdude86 replied to SonofBaconator's topic in Coming Attractions
Think Der Spinning Keggers would be a great addition to Okoberfest, and be a new flat ride that we don't have in our current line up. Biggest return I would love though is Phantom Theatre. It was a great dark ride and Scooby and Boo Blasters are terrible compared. -
The small footprint was the main reason I didn't go with Corkscrew either, jsut not going to be able to replace it with much. And I agree with you on the fact that CCMR is a good family style coaster and helps balance the thrills in the area and the park can sue a good mine train coaster. However, a good mine train coaster is the key there and CCMR isn't one. I'd rather see a new mine train or something similar replace it. Can still have it be a midlevel thrill for families but not as dull as the current. Could be really cool to see them put in some sort of mountain with tunnels/mines there that it could weave in and out of too with some mild theming or at least some tunnels like Adventure Express. But if put a mountain would be great to have a log flume that goes through it as well with it and the coaster interwoven together.

YEa I love Thunderbird. I haven't ridden X-Flight yet, but between GateKeeper, Wild Eagle, and Thunderbird I think Thunderbird is easily the best one. I honestly didn't really like GateKeeper much. The layout looks good but it just felt slow and dull for some reason.
-
Corkscrew was a close choice for me. It's location and the corkscrewing over the path were the main reasons it didn't get my vote. I went with Cedar Creek Mine Ride. It's jsut a very dull coaster overall and not very fun and takes up a lot fo space that could be better utilized by new coaster and/or log flume or other rides.
-
Wondering about that too. If they take the space from the swings to WindSeeker I think they might have enough room for the whole track on that side of The Racer. But they could have it cross under Racer as well and utilize space back there.

Love the addition of the antique cars back to Coney Mall. Was really expecting something to do with Racer with some of the talk about visits from execs and people from RMC. Would have loved to hear about a refurbishment of it alongside this. Was also expecting it given it was National Roller Coaster Day, but didn't realize i was the anniversary of the closing of the old antiques cars.

Totally forgot about that one but had thought of it before. Think it would be great and would look better.

I think a large thrilling flat or two should go into an X-Base expansion (along with restrooms and maybe a food stand). But think some family flats could be good for Coney Mall/Oktoberfest. Would like to see some classic style flats like a Tilt-a-Whirl, G2 Enterprise, or something else brought to Coney Mall (1 or 2 additions). Then a return of Der Spinning Keggers or similar ride to Oktoberfest. Maybe a secondary one too like a Bayern Curve return or alpine/Bavarian themed Musik Express. For X-Base the main addition I want to see if a Screamin' Swing and think it would fit perfectly. Other fun flat ride addition I think could be a Mack Twist N Splash over in Rivertown.

Haven't ridden Steel Vengeance yet, but as of right now Maverick is definitely my favorite. Seems like SV is amazing from videos and reports, so will be great to have the best two coasters next to each other in the same area.
-
Yea could see that. Didn;'t notice it too much, it's definitely no SoB haha, but still could see being rough. Love the intensity from the drop to the final inversion though. Feel like I get thrown more on Lightning Rod though with even more directional changes. The bunny hills at the end of it bang my knees some but not too bad and worth it for the ride.
-
Yea I love Storm Chaser but feel it loses too much momentum at the end. After the last inversion the final hills over the entrance plaza and helix into the brakes are pretty tame and feel slow compared to the first 2/3 or so of the ride. Lightning Run is small but makes a big impact and keeps its pacing until you hit the brakes

I’m assuming C.H.A.O.S. is our only new maze and that Coney Maul and Pumpkin Eater are both scare zones since they arent Fright Lane. But am glad to see Rivertown getting a scare zone.
-
Yea would love to see them keep it in some fashion. maybe could use some of the props and scream actors for a better circus themed scare zone than what they had around it. But if they plussed it and improved it, like with Slaughterhouse, in a new spot I'd be cool with that. Would not be sadd to see Board to Death leave. It was always one of the weakest to me.

I'd would hurt the launch experience but don't think it'd hurt the ride as a whole. The launch doesn't go the whole way up the hill so it slows down a lot before cresting the top. I'm sure a chain lift could match the speed it ends up at to keep the remainder of the ride the same.
-
Yea that was always one of my favorites as a kid and would hate to see it go as well.
-
Think it's kind of a double sided thing. It's a newer ride so probably still more popular than some others but the park as a whole isn't busy enough to keep all rows filled for each train. So doing this on that one keeps the operations going quicker to keep the line and guest flow moving quicker on a more popular ride. Whereas a less attended ride they may not do it because they aren't as worried about speeding the operations as much and let guests just pick wherever to sit.
-
Yea it seems unnecessary to carry all that extra stuff around. Even a purse for women isn't really needed, I'd say just take in a wallet with you or something for the day. I have always thought something like the free lockers at Universal would be perfect but don't really see them doing it. But agree with those above that they should at least have transferable lockers. Just get a wristband that you can scan at different attractions. Can buy a locker for however long you think you'll need it for the park then just scan in and out at different locker stands by the rides. Do agree that it would be nice to have this policy for all rides (at least major ones) to help loading and dispatch faster.

I do really like this design. It keeps the overall feel of the current entrance with the underpass and hidden view of the park so you get the "big reveal" walking in. The update to the restaurant is great too, especially love the balcony/patio seating too. The structure that evokes a front gate coaster is nice too. Looks good and fits the park, and can kind of give that feel without actually putting a front gate coaster in. It is a nice architectural design as well for a good aesthetic.
-
yea it pretty much just has Boo Blasters and Carnevil next door in the same building for that area, otherwise it's closed. Can't see them shutting down more as that would require people to walk all the way around the Diamondback lake to get to Mystic Timbers and Diamondback and create a dead end there at two of the largest coasters and more foot traffic having to go by The Beast entrance as well which is always popular too. And i they needed to close it down at night for construction then they same would likely hold true during the day as well, so don't see that being a reason. Kind of the same with Winterfest decorating too.
-
Agreed. And Disney does updating too but for the most part the entrance and Main Street up to the castle his remained mostly untouched since opening. Changes made have mostly been infrastructure upgrades and shops/food, but the overall aesthetic has remained unchanged. I'd be ok if they spruced up the appearance a bit, but kept the overall feel of the large structure that you pass under and enter into International Street and have everything envelop you at once.

Scarowinds Announced!

Think those are some of the biggest selling features for a gold pass. If you live close that you go a lot parking is great and a huge saving, but I live in Indy and have personally bought and had friends buy gold pass because it including haunt more so than any other perk. We only would go a few times a year and haunt was always one or two if our visits. With Winterfest now I’d be sure to hit it up as well. Whereas if they weren’t included I’d likely only go every few years as I’d use the opportunity to check out other Halloween and Christmas events and just go back to get that fix and check out a slew of new additions from the previous few years I didn’t go. That means they also aren’t getting my money for food/drink purchases and often bought skeleton key. Also I’d probably be less likely to buy a season pass in general knowing one or two visits wouldn’t be happening from the start so losing out on any money I (and anyone else with similar thoughts/feelings towards it) would have spent throughtout the summer there. So it could potentially hurt financially to not include it. -
Yea I’d be surprised if it was closed completely. I could potentially see them not having a scare zone there though so less decorations to have to worry about removing to prep for Winterfest and just am having the basic Peanuts decor for the family stuff
-
I like options B & C the best. The helix at the start is the only part of the ride I really don't enjoy much. The forces on it are pretty extreme for an element that isn't that thrilling and goes on for too long. Would be happy with a quick overbanked turn into a small dip that comes back up to the current drop. I do agree as well with changing the theming to fit in better with the surrounding area, either make it fit better with Coney Mall or Rivertown. Coney Mall could be an easier fit especially with the 50s type feel of the diner and SR&R next to it. Lends itself better to cars than Rivertown.

Also putting a tall coaster like that right next to Beast would really kill the isolated feeling of it going through the woods. That’s one of the main reasons I prefer it going over by Coney/X-Base. That would also balance the major rides better. Rivertown already has Beast (the park’s iconic coaster), Diamondback (the current tallest and one the major recent additions), and Mystic Timbers (the newest coaster). The only really big draw outside of Rivertown is Banshee for something newer and major. Vortex, Racer, etc are great but for the big crowd draws those 4 are he big ones and 3 are already in the same area.
