  1. The other side of that those is if they expanded the tunnel then people might claim that KI was aware of dangers with the tunnel and did nothing about it for years.
  2. YEa I hope they don't get rid of the omnimover ride system there but I'd be fine with a new theme. Boo Blasters does seem to be decently popular still but seeing as it's the only dark ride in the park, as well as an air conditioned indoor ride, and in the kids area probably helps those rider numbers. I think the popularity has much more to do with these factors than the theme itself does. Wouldn't mind it being changed to a new theme that is a non-shooting dark ride as well, especially if we get an interactive Triotech one elsewhere in the park. Be nice to have one for shooting things and one that you can just ride through.
  3. I'm a bit mixed on the experience. I remember going to Universal right when IoA first opened and most of the main park was still the original rides and I was pretty underwhelmed by it, loved IoA though. Feel the park is better as a whole, but I do miss the physical sets. Their screen based attractions are great but I do miss the physical sets. Spiderman was an amazing ride but think it's kind of let stuff get out of hand a bit with how popular and well received it was. Think Forbidden Journey had a good mix of physical sets and screens. Hoping more of their future dark rides have a better combo like this, at least have a few physical elements in Kong. For Fast and Furious I was hoping they would try to find a way to still utilize the Earthquake subway set into the ride. Would have been a great way to keep that part of the attraction which was pretty awesome and make something that really differentiates it from the Hollywood version.
  4. Wouldn't want to see any of the coasters leave but depending on maintainence and stuff I could see Vortex as others mentioned and potentially The Bat too. Suspended coasters like it seem to be a dying breed and keep getting removed, also not sure it's exact numbers but it rarely seems to have much of a line and even on busy days it can be nearly a walk on. Agree too that Boo Blasters is probably the surest bet for a ride to leave, however I'm not sure if it will just get another re-theme or be something completely new. Personally I'd still rather them turn it into a Peanuts themed dark ride and build a new dark ride more like Voyage to the Iron Reef elsewhere. Either utilizing the old Crypt building or the Action Theater.
  5. Would be fun to go but be coming back from vacation that same week already so won't be able to miss more work right after, but next year for sure.
  6. Not to mention for a couple years after opening there were still continuing to install them in other parks too. If they saw it as a big mistake I doubt they would have continued to build them. Some might not care for the attraction, I found it a bit underwhelming myself when I first went through, but that doesn't mean it was a disaster either.
  7. Yea that's some pretty unfortunate wording from a legal standpoint.
  8. Looks like while it will be int eh woods it is not going to have the same seclusion as Beast does so I'd probably still go with it for the last ride. Project 2017 seems to be near the midway still and will be around WWC, the train and DB. So have a great setting but won't be the same as Beast still for that alone in the woods feeling.
  9. The ride has begun to soft open now. Spoilers and videos can be found online already for it. Want to be able to go into the ride not knowing what happens but going to be hard avoiding spoilers for the next few months
  10. I kind of agree with bkroz. It's still a fun ride overall but a bit disappointing as there are so many block brakes on it. Basically have one between every element so never get to really get going on it.
  11. The thing I miss the most is definitely the Phantom Theatre. would love to have that ride back in some fashion. Also miss Tomb Raider from when it first opened. Really had a very immersive feel and something that felt more suited to like Universal studios or Disney than Florida. Miss some of the more general theming too, like the clock at the Festhaus moving (at least have memories of it moving as a kid but might be wrong), the music for the area versus pop songs all over, the vine tunnel.
  12. You mentioned wanting something educational/historic sites as well. With that I might recommend Kings Dominion and then you can go check out Williamsburg as well which has a lot there, plus if you have time/money can also hit Busch Gardens there as well and get two parks in during the trip. It's only about an hour from Kings Dominion to Williamsburg
  13. Agree, they each offer stuff the other one doesn't. As others said I'm sure they want to try to keep them at least a bit diverse too, helps encourage people to visit both versus one over the other.
  14. The pirates ride looks great overall, love the effect with the Jack Sparrow animatronic coming to life and teh homage to the dog with the keys scene. That said, while it looks great adn fun I do wish they had used more animatronics. That is what has given a lot fo the Disney classic rides, Lik ePirates, their chram. And the ones they have in here look fantastic but tehre's only a handful of them. Ok with them using Screens for some of teh stuff but feel like it woudl have been better with animatronics in places where they could have been used, like Davey Jones looking down on the shis going into the sinking one and jack calling out from the Captain's quarters at the least. While the ride seems visually impressive and vast it also feels kind of sparse next to the other Pirates rides with tons of animatronics in their city scenes.
  15. Have to agree TTD. In general bigger doesn't always equal better, but when the main feature/marketing point of the attraction's design is a vertical drop (along with a hold peering down it at the top), a higher drop would enhance that part of the experience.
  16. The contract between Marvel and Universal is the reason Tower of Terror could get a temporary Guardians of the Galaxy overlay. That contract forbids Disney's use of any Marvel characters present at Universal or reasonably associated with the characters present at Universal. The characters from Guardians of the Galaxy don't meet either of those requirements... yet. But Avengers: Infinity War Part I and / or Part II will likely include the Guardians of the Galaxy. Once that happens – but, apparently, ONLY once that happens – Guardians will be locked out of Disney World, as they'll be associated with the Avengers, who are present at Islands of Adventure with Captain America, Hulk, etc. Disney wants to use them while they still can to tie into Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 2 being in theaters. But once the Guardians meet the Avengers, they have to be gone from Disney World. Or so I've read. bkroz, not a practicing attorney in this or any other state. Not even CLOSE! I'm not sure Tower of Terrror at Disney World will get the makeover. Some of the stuff I've seen for it makes it sound likely that with all their plans they might be planning to make the Guardians overlay at California Adventure permanent and part of a new Marvel superhero land there. Been talks of making over the entire exterior and interior areas and other changes. This to me sounds like a more permanent change and not a quick overlay. But it's still possible either way. Haunted Mansion Holiday is a pretty big change and is seasonal itself so could be temporary, but changing the exterior to me sounds more permanent as well. Also the premiere of GotG: Vol. 2 is going to be at Disneyland so the overlay there helps tie into both the movie and the premiere. The Disney World one is a very different system and would require more work to it for what would be temporary, most likely, because of the contract Universal has. This specific Tower of Terror is already acclaimed around the world, whereas the others are regarded as highly so feel there would be a much bigger backlash for changing the one if Florida than any of the others. Also, as stated it makes some sense for CA with them planning to build a Marvel themed land by it to tie into, whereas at Hollywood Studios it would be on it's own and stick out greatly, not really fit with theming, which the parks are really pushing towards more immersion so seems counter intuitive to that. Additionally, the parks are trying to cut costs some where they can so seems like it would be a costly move for something that would be temporary. Again though anything could happen so never say never, but I just don't see it happening in Florida but can easily see it coming to Disneyland.
  17. Yea, the show and movies haven't been flops or failures by any means but they have not been major successes either. That said I would love for them to have their own small area there. Maybe the Swedish Chef can have a restaurant, a family dark ride to them and update the Muppetvision movie. Could have it be a Muppet Studios land which could give the full immersion experience while still keeping a remnant of the park's original form too with having a movie/tv studio.
  18. Will be curious how it turns out. I think they are just viewing it as there being so many people near to the parks that they should be able to get plenty of people, plus Shanghai and Beijing are big business centers with lots of travelers already in addition to people that live near there. But same could be said for Hong Kong and it struggled a bit when it first opened, but luckily has been doing better recently, and this park looks like it will be at a much better starting point line-up wise than Hong Kong Disneyland was so might help to attract people more from the get go.
  19. There's a lot of coasters I'd like to see brought to KI like Thunderbird or Maverick. But I agree with Haru-Kun that we need a great dark ride. Would love to see Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man from Universal, or at least something similar. Busch Gardens has shown us a regional park can get something like it with Curse of Darkastle.
  20. Would love it provided it is a completely original ride and not a refurb of Beast. Have thought an RMC would be great in Rivertown. And to the comments talking about a mountain and a log flume like Knott's, would be cool to maybe turn the Crypt building into a mountain. Just leave it there as is for the most part but put a mount structure around it. Then build a long flume that meanders in and out of the building with some small scene in there like Knott's. Be a great way to hide the eyesore of the box and keep the theme. Could utilize the current queue still, maybe exit out the side where you leave Madame Fatale's to an outdoor loading platform and theme the indoor portion of the queue to a mine as well.
  21. A few reasons that have been stated have been: The early appearance of teasers, usually don't get teasers this early for smaller attractions. The amount of area that is covered by the placement of markers. The amount of area covered by rees that have been marked or removed already. Not saying that it is for sure a coaster or anything but there are just as many reasons that could be brought up for why it likely is a coaster as there are for why it isn't.
  22. Not sure how the deal would have any effect or outcome in the parks for the new Ice Age film as they are done by Blue Sky which is part of Fox and not through Dreamworks
  23. Yea I feel many of the complaints people have for these companies that bought other things, are for things that were likely inevitable to happen either way. Youtube woudl liekly have had more and more ads added to it to help pay for it, and with free music programs they either would put in ads or start charging. Also ticket prices would have probably gone up at Universal whether Comcast bought them or not. Most parks raise their admission prices over the years, plus the higher ticket price helps generate more revenue to be able to ivnest back into the park which Comcast has been doing a fantastic job of at Universal with lots of great knew rides and areas as well as new hotels adn water park coming. If ticket prices stayed the same as they were in mid '00s we might not have had all the additions we have gotten this soon or as detailed.
  24. Would love Kings Island to get a ride addition year like that soon. A big thrill level flat ride and a couple smaller family style flats like a teacup/Tilt-A-Whirl type ride would really help round out our flat rides selection.
  25. As long as it was being replaced by another log flume that was at least as good I'd be ok with it being removed. However I would hate for it to just be removed for anything else, even a coaster. I love log flumes and feel that we have a pretty great coaster line up currently but if either RFYLCB or WWC were removed that our water ride line up would be severely lacking. Also hope that if we do get a large coaster back there that it doesn't intrude too much on WWC as one of the best aspects of that ride is how it is kind of secluded int eh woods, even though other rides and areas aren't very far from it it feels like it is out int eh middle of the woods by itself. Would hate to have that ruined by having a big coaster running around across it's path.
