Star Wars Land: Abandon Your Ride Vehicles!
purdude86 replied to Voicetek's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Well it wouldn't be a first for Disney as they have live performers on Great Movie Ride. But not expecting it, especially the chase since could cause some liability issues. Could see something like GMR where you have a Captain/platoon leader type person that is riding with you and leads you through the areas to the next vehicle when you disembark. -
Yea it's hit or miss for if the pass gets you into a skeleton key room. Did the feast in 2015 and 2016. 2015 we got into the Skeleton Key room but last year we didn't. Technically it is not supposed to be but sometimes get lucky. Was really hoping to get into Slaughterhouse's last year but unfortunately not.

What would you hate to see go at Kings Island
purdude86 replied to Vortex lover's topic in Kings Island
In general top one would be The Beast as it's the iconic ride of KI. For that reason though I feel it's pretty safe (though never say never) but popularity and its status make it fairly safe I feel. Same, along with young age, for Diamondback and Banshee. For ones more likely I'd hate to see AE go. It is one of my favorite mine trains hands down. Only real competition I've seen for it is Disney's BTM which is a different league of parks itself. But for regional/seasonal parks, none of the others even come close to it. Would love to see it restored to everything working again and maybe some new effects. And enhance the "volcano" tunnel. Put rockwork and red/orange lighting throughout it to give it more of the feel. The current rocks at the entrance and exact with red light in a wooden tunnel jsut doesn't feel very volcano-y to me. I'm not sure you could even really call it the Action Theatre anymore. The building is still there but has been gutted of all the equipment for years now. I'd count that as an attraction that's been removed. So even if they tore the building down I wouldn't count that as AT leaving. Was actually thinking the same thing initially. -

I'm very curious how this will work but sounds awesome. Would be great if they had actual cast members as Stormtroopers chasing you. Could have most be animatronic but having 2/3 actually chasing you would be cool. though I doubt that as I'm sure actual running will be frowned on due to the increased chance of falling and hurting one's self. I will be curious though to see how they handle the reloading int he middle of an attraction as well as ADA requirements, but I'm sure they will have something great in place. Probably be something that is a simple restraint system (at least on the second half) that is like the omnimovers or POTC type boat rides that require no real restraint or a seatbelt only like Dinosaur and ToT. -
Agreed. There is actually a bit of room to expand in Rivertown if you go back behind the Crypt building. I would just extend the path you take to Beast/Slaughterhouse back further. Think a flat ride section would be great back there and could really expand stuff. Maybe some actually shops or faux building fronts to give it more theme and more of that town feel would be nice too. Also the old Crpyt building is an obvious spot for expansion too. Either torn down for something new or the building used to house a new dark ride or roller coaster. I would just re-theme it to a mine instead of a tomb though to fit the area/theme of Rivertown more.

Agree, move this as it's one type of ride the park could really use since they don't have a log flume right now. Would help to round it out. But top pick would be Phantom Theatre to either KK or HW. Miss this ride the most and was one of my favorites. Love to be able to ride it again and they are the closest. Would really help KK, but probably have a better future at HW and would fit in their Halloween area well.

Think switching one side to running backwards again would be great for an off year when they don't add anything major. Be almost like having a new big ride again that year then.
-
I think having a new coaster like Storm Chaser probably helped boost there attendance a lot too. It was one of the main reasons we went there for the first time. Ended up loving Lightning Run too, plus the waterpark is great. Agree that the dragstrip area is prime for an expansion and really help to make the walk from the Storm Chaser plaza over to the rapids ride and T3 not seem so empty and barren. Would be nice for another small coaster or a couple flat rides added. Hopefully they can fit in another bigger coaster like Chang when it was there sometime, or at least another small intense one like SC and LR.

It is most likely for the Skeleton Key room at the KI Theatre

Golden Ticket Awards 2016

Coasters aside I find it hard to take seriously when Disneyland's Tower of Terror is ranked above Disney World's. -
This is true, though wasn't expecting a ton as it was just for the queue. Hopefully this being part of the actual ride it will be a bit more and not be a big disappointment

What ride was the quote from Robin Innes in regards to? And yea I'd say that they either had confirmed yet or were trying to wait to announce as the tweet is from July so it's no in response to the announcement. Also there is no reply to the comments on it from after the announcement to point to them staying open.

Cedar Point Shores Water Park
purdude86 replied to bkroz's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Not sure what all they are moving and exact spots of new things but a single Tornado slide isn't a huge footprint. But if they are removing or relocation all of Challenge Park I feel like there would still be some left over room in that spave given we are only getting a small kids play area and a water slide tower added for next year. If they really wanted as well could extend into the parking lot some too. -
Cedar Point Shores Water Park
purdude86 replied to bkroz's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I believe that they will all be new. There is really only the new Point Plummet slide tower. Two of the other slides mentioned are off that tower as well. Looks to be about the same as Tropical Plunge from Kings Island and Blackbeard's Revenge at Carolina Harbor, just with an extra drop pod slide in place of the third tube slide. The only other new attraction is a splash pad so I'm assuming that is all new as well. Wouldn't be surprised to see them expand it more soon with some other stuff, primarily one of the tornado funnel slides. CF has removed the one from Knott's and is closing Wildwater Kingdom so that leaves two of them open to be either relocated or sold, would make sense to move them to one of their parks without one. Be a nice addition for the new CPS. Bkroz, I agree with you on the naming. Don't think CPS is bad but Cedar Shores does sound a lot nicer. Be great to see ours get renamed and maybe some light theming. Think Queen's Harbor sounds great and could be a nice tie into the name Kings Island. -
EPCOT is getting a coaster

I also think Inside Out characters would be a good update for the Wonders of Life pavilion and reopen it -
I really hope they will have at least Boo Blasters open as well in addition to the carousel and train. Have as many rides as possible going for it, and could be fun if they put up some Christmas decorations around the attractions too. sounds like it should be a fun event. Curious to see some more details to come about what all will be included.

As others mentioned Friday and Saturday nights (Saturday especially) get fairly good size crowds and can make waits for the rides a bit longer. Earlier in the day on Saturday isn't too bad but the later into the day it goes usually the heavier the crowds. Also on Fridays and Saturdays after about 5 or 6 Planet Snoopy will close down it's rides. If you don't want to get scared at all I'd recommend a No Boo necklace as well, but there aren't a ton of street roamers in past years but there are some. If all you care about are the rides themselves I'd probably recommend going on a Sunday. Crowds usually aren't very big so can get on rides pretty quick. There is no adult haunt stuff that day so the park usually closes around 7, but since most crowds outside young families tend to want the main Haunt events they avoid Sundays resulting in much smaller crowds and lines, especially outside of PS. So if you really want to avoid long lines and scare actors Sundays would be the best bet.

Also seeing as how it's a Christmas holiday event I think most people will be associating it with the 2017 holiday season. Don't think many people are expecting, or really wanting, to go visit Santa in January. That's a bit early for their Christmas list, especially after having just received a bunch of gifts a week prior. I really don't think there will be much confusion.

EPCOT is getting a coaster
purdude86 replied to Colonel_SoB_fan's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I have to agree fully. I hate to see classic rides get replaced and was very mixed on FEA. It was a great way to infuse some new life into that area, and has actually sparked more education int eh process because kids are asking the CMs how it compares to their home and finding out things about Norway in the process. Whereas before most people skipped the movie, which was the only real educational aspect, and just assumed Norway was all about vikings and trolls. Universe of Energy though needed to be taken out. Hardly anyone seems to ride it and the ride system is ridiculous. It has not aged well and the video is dated. But the worst part to me is the slow process of the ride. It takes about 40-45 minutes to experience and at least half the time is spent sitting in a car waiting for the others to move with nothing to really look at or do. -
Decoding Episode 2.5: BONUS ROUND! Second Announcement!
purdude86 replied to jcgoble3's topic in Kings Island
If they put dark rides into Action Theatre and Crypt's old buildings, and revamped/spruced up Boo Blasters (either itself or preferably a Peanuts theme) then I think Kings Island would become my favorite regional park. I love dark rides and having three in one park would be amazing. If we had three ideally I would like to see a classic style omnimover dark ride back in BB building themed to Peanuts, a Curse of Darkastle type ride in Action Theatre and a Triotech type shooter in Crypt's building. Either a multi-floor that is like Voyage to the Iron Reef or a coaster hybrid like Wonder Mountain's Guardian. Think that'd give us a great mix of family, thrilling, and interactive. -
Good to know planning to go down around end fo November or beginning of December next year. Was wondering what it was like.
-
I always felt something like Mystery Mine at Dollywood would go great there. The queue could easily be reworked to going into a mine and have some scenes inside the bilding and then have it dipping in and out during the ride.
-
Would be cool if they did one through Soak City that was like the one at Canada's Wonderland (I think) in their Planet Snoopy where you are on a team of zombie hunters roaming through the area and have to battle zombies.
-
Yea basically in the space where the ladder game, basketball game, and Coca-Cola Marketplace are at the entrance to Coney Mall.
-
I'm hoping for a new flat, but would be all for a refurbishment of RFYLCB as well. Not sure if they would change the themeing as it works well with it being on the border of both Rivertown and Planet Snoopy. It fits the themeing for both. Plus having it in Planet Snoopy helps them maintain the higher quality and diverse children's area they have been awarded. While not likely, I would be excited to see a new Peanuts theme and decor for Boo Blasters, but don't see that as too likely so not going to get my hopes up.
