What's the longest you've ever waited for an attraction at KI?
purdude86 replied to thegajone's topic in Kings Island
I waited around 3 hours or so for Son of Beast when it first opened. -
Yea I'd pretty much be the same way. If it has some sort of id with it i'll turn it in or if I see someone looking around for it, probably check to see if its what they're looking for. Otherwise I'd probably keep it.

Small things that need changed at Kings Island.
purdude86 replied to OpSonofBeast's topic in Kings Island
I don't think you'd be in the minority on that. A lot of people thought it was good and looked nice when it first opened. The problem was that it wasn't maintained and became more of an eyesore. I'd have been for keeping it if it was kept up but it wasn't and they seemed to have no intention of every restoring it so I'd rather have it taken out. -
And if for some reason it doesn't want to read it or there's a new person that doesn't know the process, you can pay there and get a receipt and guest services will refund the parking charge. Had to do that last year.

One thing I think would be fun is to change/expand the Juke Box Diner into an actual 50s style sit down diner.
-
Seems like a strange place to me to put something. Yea there is space there but it seems like it'd be hard to get back to being boxed out a bit by The Beast queue and The Crypt building. Guess they could make a path next to The Beast queue but it does get congested there, but guess if that's where space is available.

I really wish Boo Blaster would get a peanuts theme...
purdude86 replied to Screaming_Chicken's topic in Kings Island
This is why the ride going up in Canada is of interest to me. One of the claims, IIRC, was the ride was customizable and if I read things right, could operate on many different programs thru the day if the operated wished for that variety. I immediatly thought of Boo Blasters and all of that "extra" space that goes to waste (well other than storage) for the regular operating season. I envision a kid friendly version of an indoor shooter/dark ride experience (or whatever CW has in store) for the regular season, then during the haunt, a kid's friendly halloween version of the ride during the day, and an adult version during the evenings when the haunt is in full effect. Would love to see them incorporate something like it if it's a success, but I think there are plenty of other places it could be put in that would be better, primarily the old Action Theatre which doesnt' seem to be getting used this year or The Crypt's old building. Could even do it in The Crypt building with a similar design to Wonder Mountain's Guardian with a lift up the outside and have multiple levels on the inside you go through. Maybe give it a mining theme to fit the area. Boo Blasters I think is fine with it's current system it just needs spruced up with some new décor/theme. Would be fine seeing it reverted into just a standard dark ride featuring the Peanuts (not a shooter) if they're going to have another shooter in the park anyway. -
I rode Flying Ace once back when it was Runaway Reptar and I'll say it is also very close together on the seats. Defintiely made for kids. I could kick the seat in front of me if I just raised my legs a little bit.

I remember him. Yet another reason I'd agree with Terpy about the ride ops not talking. His enthusiasm is great, and fun when you're ont eh ride heading out. But listening to it for 10 minutes while waiting to get on gets old real quick.

I agree. The new theming/paint on it looks great. But all those details, while minor on their own really stand out now with the fresh paint and decor elsewhere and becames very noticeable.

Your First Upside Down Coaster?
purdude86 replied to Sonofbeast2.0's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
While it might go upside down I don't think it counts as a coaster. Mine was Raptor at Cedar Point. -
What is your favorite 2014 Kings Island flat ride?
purdude86 replied to kingsislandfan1972's topic in KI Polls
Mine would be Delerium but it's not on the list. -

purdude86 replied to Screaming_Chicken's topic in Kings Island
Well I understand with it not fitting the theme of the land anymore wanting to change it to being part of a different section, but it always got me too that they'd change when you have to clearly walk into there to get to it. -
Disney Monorail for sale!
purdude86 replied to shark6495's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Haha was actually watching the episode as I read that. Would be awesome to have that. No idea where I'd out it but maybe it could be converted into an awesome limo. -
That's ridiculous they don't let them have water there. Agree there are plenty of ways to conceal it or make it look better than just a cooler there.

Not sure if the Fantastic Voyage stuff was but at least from the time it was Phantom Manor it has been considered part of International Street. I know a lot of people don't realize it since you have to clearly go into Planet Snoopy to get to the entrance. Which is why I think it'd be easy to retheme it to Peanuts even though it is considered International Street, they could just start considering it part of Planet Snoopy then. -
A possible location for a flat ride?
purdude86 replied to kingsislandfan1972's topic in Kings Island
I think Flight Commander's old pad would be a perfect spot to put in a new Flying Eagles. -
I felt the same as a kid. It was great seeing the meticulous theming of everything there when it first was bought by Paramount. All of the rides when they first opened were great too with lots of attention to detail. I never really expected to see stuff like Tomb Raider and Italian Job there with their extensive theming. Though in later years they did let a lot of it slide. Was disappointed when Cedar Fair first bought it and gutted the theming. But these last few years they have really enhanced the park and made it great again and above where it was at the latter days of Paramount for sure.

I would have been so annoyed if I was one of the people around them. His screams were pretty loud at times there. Not to mention he dad never shut up even before he started screaming. Miss that ride though, remember going on it when I was a kid. Was disappointed when they were first taking it out, but Phantom Theatre was one of my favorite rides there ever so at least got an even better replacement. Unfortunately that spot ahs just gone down since then.

I remember reading those as a kid. And agree with everyone else that the first was much better. Been awhile sine I have read them though. And I agree you don't get too old for R.L. Stine. MY roommate and I started binge watching Goosebumps last year when it got added to Netflix. Still not as good as Are You Afraid of the Dark> but that's what Amazon Prime is for.

My friend Dave sent me a text at 11 this morning saying a normal 10 minute wait for Diamondback turned into a 25 minute affair. I just saw reports that Behemoth and Intimidator Carowinds have the seat belts as well. Check out this bit about Behemoth operation today from kunpc1, a moderator over at the fansite CWMania: Is this similar to the way Diamondback is being operated right now? I haven't seen any posts that specifically address the new loading procedures. Interestingly enough, despite the seat belts on Behemoth they are not currently on Leviathan. Say what?! This whole saga is just getting more bizarre by the minute. Yea they whole thing has been strange. Though t it was awkward that they didn't add them to Leviathan but did to the smaller coasters. Also it seems weird that they'd check the seatbelt before lowering restraints. Every other ride they just do it all together and it seems like a big time waster.

Exactly. If it's ok to give your Fast Lane ticket to someone else why not just hand your part ticket itself to someone else. Maybe sometime in the future they'd want to buy an actual ticket and pay to go to the park then.

Did that a lot as a kid at places like Disney too. I would always go to the parks fromt he moment they opened until they closed and my family would never make it all day. So i'd catch the busses out tot he parks and then meet up with them later in the day. Then go ride more after fireworks when they left. Would chat with random people in the lines and sometimes meet other people there by themselves and hang out riding rides together for the day. -
Huh? The waterpark got Tidal Wave Bay, Splash River, and its current name in 2012 as part of a large expansion and complete retheme.Or are you still in denial over that? Breakers Bay was the first name that came to my head, yes I know it is TWB. The river is the same except for a few water doo-hickeys. Listen to Mr. Helbig's recording on the call waiting. (Yes, I know it's a new retheme, but I'm discussing water slides explicitly.) I stayed up all night and was uber busy as well, give tired BB1 a break! Yea I woulnd't count taht as a major addition. It was nice adn teh retheme and painting of the waterpark was much needed and look sgreat. But we havne't had a new slide since it became BB. I would rather see a couple flats added first but I wouldn't be disappointed to see a new slide complex added as well and/or a water coaster.

I don't think it would be worth it for taking awy the aesthetic of the park's landmark. If they really wanted to build a polercoaster it'd be better just add a new tower for it.
