  1. Yea I voted for The Beast on the third question but only because I had too. I don't see them messing with either one. Racer is a historic coaster and still well liked, plus it fits the theme of that area better than a steel coaster would. The Beast is a classic as well that I don't see being messed with either. Not to say it isn't possible for either but I would be surprised to see it happen.
  2. Yea they need to be spread out, one for cost purposes, but also after a couple years they won't be new anymore and people will start clamoring for a new big ride/coaster even though you just added 3 or more within the last couple years. Think something like Fury 325 and Maverick would make great additions. But I think we also need to see some more additions to the flat ride line up and Soak City as well to really round everything else out.
  3. I agree. And having companies sponsor stuff is an easy nonintrusive way to bring in ad revenue. I wouldn't even mind some signs around the park. Might get a bit irked if we had ad wrapped trains on rides or huge banners on the sides of coasters like certain parks do as I think those are total eyesores. But letting companies sponsor stuff or buy some ad space for a few signs on buildings or even some ads over the park pa system when they are doing announcements about showtimes is fine if it means more revenue for the park to do more improvements and aditions in the future.
  4. There's plenty of room back behind Banshee in general you don't need to take anything out. They could reuse SOB's station even or just put a new one there and have it run out back behind Banshee and Bat.
  5. I agree. Most fo the rides were pretty much unchanged by the loss of rights when Cedar Fair took over. The only one that truly changed was Tomb Raider. The only other ride heavily themed to a movie was IJST and it's change to BLSC has had hardly any change to the feel of the ride at all. EVerything else was themed in name and movie posters only. And we have seen they can do well with theming without license with Banshee. Extensive theming to other IPs isn't needed. i'd rather them invest that money into other enhancements, attractions, and their own theming. Even if they did have the rights to these the theming would probably still be fairly light as it was before, we're not going to get a ride with the heavy theming of a park like Universal or Disney. I'd say Tomb Raider was even an exception. Flight of Fear would probably be the most I'd expect adn Banshee is probably even more likely.
  6. I didn't get a picture of it, but when I was there on Sunday the building was open but it was still compltely bare on teh inside. Not sure if anything has been done on it this week though.
  7. Kings Island really needs something like this. A new slide complex would add multiple new attractions to the water park. They have made some nice improvements to it over the years but I agree there hasn't really been any new additions in a long time. I know a lot of people keep saying they want a water coaster like Wildebeest but while they would be nice I think something liek this would be better first as it would add multiple new slides at once versus just one new attraction. Though I would like to see a water coaster eventually added.
  8. I could see us potentially getting something small as well like a Flying Scooters ride or something, but most enhancements to the park. They have been getting added to most of the Cedar Fair parks lately, and Cedar Point got them this year after just getting Gatekeeper the year before.
  9. That's exactly how I see it. You'd be hard pressed to find another IP that is as timeless as the Penuts gang has proven to be. It might seem to many that they are not relevnat today but as yuo point out they are used in tons of advertising. Plus I'd say most kids see at least the Halloween and Christmas specials adn know the characters from those. I don't see any other current properties having teh same lasting power. Nickelodeon has hanged greatly and is morelive action shows now for one and most of their shows only last a few years. Spongebob is the only thing still relevant now that was 5+ years ago. But I don't see him still being around in another 20 years or so. Whereas Peanuts have been around for over 60 years. As for the original question of retaining rights to the Paramount films I think it would have been unlikely unless they got them for an extremly low price. Very few of the rides were that heavily themed. Tomb Raider and IJST are about teh only ones I can think of that really had much theme. Most of the other rides really only had a name of a movie stuck on them and some movie posters in the queue. Otherwise there was hardly any change once Cedar Fair removed the movie connections. Even BLSC has hardly changed. So it would probably be a bit of a waste of money to spend on the rights when it would primarily jsut be used to give a ride a name based on a movie.
  10. Plus I'm not sure if it applies to the Platinum Pass but the price for a Gold Pass in the fall is generally much cheaper than it is late winter/spring.
  11. There's a bit of space that they could still use there. Some of it would just require moving some stuff around a bit. As Blondy said there is space next to the Festhaus for a small ride. Also where the Rope Ladder game is if they moved it elsewhere there is enough space there for another flat. Ideally I' also like to see the Slingshot moved more into Action Zone or something and they would make room for another flat or a building/shop there. But I wouldn't expect them to move it. Also just some enhancements like revamping the Festhaus itself and make it more of a German restaurant could go a long way.
  12. I don't fully count Wolf Pack as it's only permenant since the coaster station it uses is no longer needed. Otherwise it would get taken out and put back. Club Blood is decent too but not up to the par of the others I listed. I specified the permanent ones were nicer for the most part as some like you mentioned aren't much different form the others. But to me it seems that all of the really good ones are permanent ones.
  13. Didn't know it was closing Sunday. Luckily I'm heading out there that day so I will have to make sure to go see it.
  14. Yes but The Beast is an iconic coaster that anyone going to the park will know about and will hunt for or ask where it is if needed. Flight Deck was not the same way. There were people that didn't know anything about it and it wasn't some major must ride coaster to a vast majority and so might not take the extra effort to find it if they didn't know where it was.
  15. I'm hoping it will be better if it is a permanent housing for it. It seems as if teh ones that are in permanent locations are the nicer ones for the most part. Madame Fatale's is defintiely are nicest maze right now, and Urgent Scare is one the better looking ones too and they stay there full time. Whereas others like Holiday Horror and Cornstalkers can be fun but just feel a lot cheaper.
  16. Yea I loive the ride but giving it a retheming to fit in with the surroundings better would be good. Either jsut grassy adn trees or something to go with Coney Mall or a western type theme similar to Maverick for it to be part of Rivertown. I never thought the theming on it was terrible persay jsut didn't fit the area. It would have gone perfectly in Action Zone at teh time it wasbuilt as it was teh exact theme of the land. But it never fit in where it is located.
  17. Yea that's why I've been figuring there's a good chance int eh next year or two that we will be getting them as well. Almost all of their parks have them now after all the additions the last couple years to other ones. Plus it will allow them to add something new without spending a ton of money and add some more, much needed, flats to the park.
  18. There's no doubt that Banshee helped get some riders to The Bat, but I'm not sure on what level. Gatekeeper didn't seem to bring an influx of riders to Wicked Twister nor did Maverick bring them to Mean Streak. I think people are drawn to something new, which is why Cedar Point might be experimenting with giving one of their coasters a King James makeover. I don't think it takes an all-new attraction to get people excited. I'm sure these forums would be ablaze with excitement if Backlot Stunt Coaster got a new name and an extensive re-theme. I can envision them building on what's there now with Backlot and giving it an earthquake-style makeover with minimal investment. Or they could invest more and focus on beautifying that area, giving it a Maverick-esque canyon-carving theme with willow trees and such. Banshee's proximity to The Bat though I think has a different effect than those coasters. The Bat is fairly hidden in the back and hard to see from walking around the park. I have seen and gone with people there that didn't even know the coaster was back there, they weren't carrying around a park map to see that. Now with all the ridership from Banshee and the bright paint you can't help but see it. Plus the exit for Banshee spits you out to where you pretty much see the sign for the ride. So I'd say Banshee's addition probably had at least as much of an impact on The Bat as the the retheme did.
  19. Not sure if you can really lump CP's together like that. They already have 3 attractions along those line with the Antique Cars, Cadillac Cars, and Turnpike Cars, so there was no need for them to put in a fourth. I would love to see us get something like them again though. I'd be fine with just a couple of new flats though as well.
  20. I usually hate when rides are named simply for what they actually are. It just seems lazy. It seems to work ok for the carnival type rides though like scrambler though (guess since the name tends to describe the ride a lot and everyone calls them by it anyway) so troika might work but as it had a name rather see it keep that or renamed something else. But really calling it Troika but because it is one would be like having named Tomb Raider as Top Spin or changing Delerium's name to Frisbee.
  21. Yea I'm not saying at all that Disney has been sitting around doing nothing. They have just been focusing on the guest say as a whole and not attractions. The Fast Pass+ system is supposed to make things easier and streamline visits, refurbing properties and building new resorts, and the new Disney Springs area being worked on. But to the general person looking at where to go for a trip the new attractions are what is going to influence their decision. But the things Disney is doing is why I am able to go there for a week and enjoy myself but I get bored with Universal after a couple days. I might be looking forward tot he new rides at Universal more than Disney but I will be spending much more time at Disney. And I feel the same about the new Avatarland as thegajone. I liked the movie but wasn't something I couldn't wait to see imported to a park somewhere. However it makes perfect sense at Animal Kingdom. The park is focused on conservation efforts and nature which is what the movie is about. So it will allow for a new land that fits in well. Also with the visuals of the film it could make for an amazing land as well. Just imagine walking through the bioluminescent forest at night, it will be stunning. So I don't think they need to worry too much about the films being a huge lasting success as long as the land is done well it will draw people in to see it. It will also give the park something else for a nighttime aspect. It usually closes early since it is focused so much on animals and they all go to bed early and has no nighttime show yet due to fireworks disrupting them. So having the bioluminescent land, more rides, and the new nighttime river show will allow the park to have a reason to stay open later.
  22. Disney defintiely caters more to a family audience than Universal but I think the group that condemns Harry Potter for the witchracta dn sorcery is a very minute segment that won't affect them too much. Some of them might even be likely to go visit teh park for it's other attractions as well and just skip over teh Harry Potter sections. I will agree though that I think Disney has a broader appeal but that also has somewhat to do with it having a lot more to offer adn do there. They have 4 full theme parks, their downtown section, numerous resorts, camping, horse back riding, golfing, 2 themed water parks, etc. Where as Universal is just 2 parks which feel smaller than most of Disney's, a small downtown area connecting them, and a few hotels. I can easily spend a week at Disney whereas I start getting bored at Universal by the end of day 3. That being said it feels as if Universal has beens tepping their game up more lately than Disney has and it has not gone unnoticed by most. I see constant comparisons between the additions and people are favoring Universal's plans of late. New Fantasyland looks amazing but the park as a whole has only netted one new attraction. That has been the only real addition in all of WDW too as they have been focused on the My Magic+ system. Universal though has updated Jimmy Neutron to Despicable Me! Minion Mayhem, added Transformers, built an entire Springfield section, and now opened Diagon Alley and teh Hogwarts Express. I'm a huge Disney fan and have always loved the parks. However a group of friends and Ia re planning to go down to Orlando to visit both in January and I can easily say I am more excited to go back to Universal than I am for Disney because of all the new additions.
  23. Yea I do miss making stupid poses for the camera on it but have gotten used to it not being there now. Probably would never have bought a pic from it anyhow. We still manage to get some good shots and poses on many of the other rides though.
  24. I'm planning to go down in January and hadn't even thought of Megabus as a cheaper option. We're debating between driving and flying. I went down for the opening of Hogsmeade and it was awesome. Glad to hear that I'm not missing anything with the Pumpkin Juice. I really wanted to try it since I love pumpkin but $7 was too much. One tip for when you go back again is check out the single rider lines. They are usually much quicker. Your party generally gets split up but will be within a car or two so get on and off about the same time. It was the grand opening of Hogmeade when Forbidden Journey had like 3 hour waits and we'd be on in about 10-15 minutes. Other rides were similar. Spiderman had a 2 hour wait and the single rider line was about 5 minutes. WE were able to do everything in both parks in a single day.
  25. Of those choices I'd really hope for a giga over a strata. I don't really get all the hype for the strata coasters. They are fun but the ride is so short, it's just one quick hill. I'd rather have a giga with numerous tall hills to go over and winding around through the woods or something. But I agree with Hank. There will likely be some new coaster types in that time coming out that could be possibilities we aren't even thinking about too.
