  1. That does sound like a great deal for the food and pass included.
  2. There's a few props throughout Madame Fatale's as well like the cannon. Your title gave me the idea too that they should do a maze sometime themed around the Phantom Theatre and the maestro.
  3. Unfortunately WDW was originally supposed to get it too. They even made all the characters and props for the overlay but the heads at the park decided they didn't want to have it in their park so it all got sent to Tokyo since their Haunted Mansion is a direct copy of the one at WDW so everything would work in it as well.
  4. Yea as it is now it needs to go. I remember riding it back in the early 90's and there was a lot more to it. You actually got to walk through and see people working on animation stuff, more about movie making and audience participation stuff, and the tram tour was a lot longer but so much has been taken out. Not it's just a couple quick scenes and a loop through a storage room and Catastrophe Canyon. It's needed to be taken out for awhile. Anything new going in there will probably be better than the tour now. And it opens a lot of space for expansion with the area it took up as well as free space behind it that has been unused until now.
  5. If each side was truly different then I'd count it as two separate credits. Like Dueling Dragons at Universal, they race and duel with one another (or at least used to) but are completely different rides. As for the RM makeovers those are completely different from the Mantis/Rougarou situation. There the track and layout is changing drastically plus going from wood track to steel. Whereas Rougarou is just getting new trains on the exact same track with the same layout.
  6. I think it will depend on how greatly the ride experience itself changes. I'm more inclined to say no since it is the same track. For instance I don't think I'd count SOB as two just because it lost the loop. All but a few seconds of the ride was the same so don't think it was different enough. However when Racer went forwards and backwards I'd count them as separate ones, but as it stands now it's only one.
  7. RMC style hybrid Giga coaster Wing Rider Maverick style megalite Water Coaster Curse of Darkastle style dark ride Boo Blasters changed into a traditional/non shooting dark ride themed around Peanuts. New interactive dark ride with guns that actually work. Flying Scooters Tilt-A-Whirl Screamin' Swing Super Jump 2 new Top Spin Ferris Wheel
  8. I think that is going to be their best spot for theming as well. It'll be hard to do too much on the water itself but could add a lot to the dirt area that always looked kind of unfinished to me. I love this conversion as well. I always though Mantis had a great layout to it but it was so uncomfortable as a stand up. It would start off ok but by the end f the ride I was ready for it to stop and get off. Having it be a floorless coaster now will be great, and might make for some views of riding over the water too. I really like the name as well. I thinkt he paint job looks great too but seems a bit bright for the name and logo though. Wsh they would have gone with a darker orange but at least it should look sharp. Can't wait to ride this again for the first time.
  9. I think sensitivity things get taken a bit far when it comes to Halloween events. I'm sure you could connect almost any element of them to some real world tragedy. This instance especially seems a bit strange that they'd remove all the severed heads but leave all the headless bodies, don't see how that's any different. Plus there's still all the dead bodies and stuff. Though this case wasn't people so much requesting or petitioning Busch Gardens to remove it as it was them taking it out themselves. (Though I'm sure it would have eventually come up). The complaints were actually toward a newspaper that used a pile of severed heads on its front page to promote the event. They felt that was in distaste to display it like that as well as being a frightening image for any kid that would see the paper and they should have picked a different scene to promote the event.
  10. I remember having that same book and record when I was a kid too. Had practically forgotten about it now until you posted that.
  11. It's still a decent size area though that could easily hold a couple flats or something. You probably could even fit another coaster in there if you wanted. Look at the space in relation to the surrounding attractions. Flight of Fear itself would fit into that space so plenty of room for a couple flats and restrooms.
  12. Yea $10 million seems way to high. But I think $2 million would still be seen as too expensive for a project that is going to have very little impact. I don't think they'd sink that much money into something small like that on an old coaster. The new paint job was great and needed, but I don't think ridership has increased that greatly since the repaint for them to sink a few million into something that isn't really needed and could be spent elsewhere in the park. It would be great to see some nice theming for the queue but I just don't see it happening.
  13. Yea I think that everytime I walk by it. I love the Character Carousel when I was kid. I always rode on Jabberjaw. Wish it still had characters now. Could have it themed around Woodstock, Snoopy, and his family and maybe some of the bench type seats with some of the other characters like Charlie Brown and Linus.
  14. Don't have to be that old to have at least some memory of a couple of them. I wasn't there for the Skyride or Bayern Curve but I have vague memories of boththe Flying Dutchman and Der Spinning Keggers.
  15. I'm mixed on this. I liked the Maelstrom, but that was partly since it was the only real ride in World Showcase to me. (I know Mexico has one but it jsut floats gently past scenes so not real thrilling in anyway.) But it was fun and celebrated teh culture. Norway was already small so kind of disappointing to see so much of it being taken over by solely a movie. Hopefully they still have enough to celebrate adn teach teh culture adn lad of Norway. However I am excited to see a new ride as the area did need some love and something new to it besides just restaurants. Hopefully this will be done well adn be a quality attraction. And if it is a success be ncie to see some other attractions added into other lands such as the adding the new Ratatouille dark ride to the France pavilion or even a new Beauty and The Beast one if they wanted to do something brand new.
  16. I agree with Bodda. I believe the park is in the best hands right now and is on track to have it's best era yet. The love they have been showing different areas of the park and sprucing them up along with adding attractions has been great. Especailly looking at Soak City I feel it looks better now than it ever has. There are defintiely things from earlier eras that I miss attraction wise liek Phantom Theatre and the Les Taxis. But we have some great rides now we didn't back then as well such as Banshee and Diamondback. Most of the other areas I feel were more nostalgia for remembering them being so great (not that any were real bad and some were great too). Some of my favorite attractions were during the Paramount years with rides like Crypt and I liked IJST (aside form it taking out Les Taxis) and had great theming too. But they were good about putting out a great product but they would not maintain them well. Whereas Cedar Fair keeps things up a lot better.
  17. Signing a waiver is all a head game. It rarely holds up in court. Plus, what if the kid flew out of the ride and landed on another person? They would be injured or killed as a result of the choices made by someone else. Also, imagine how it would impact the park: if he was seriously injured or killed on a ride then it would be all over the news and make Kings Island look awful. That sort of thing really does affect attendance for long periods of time. Safety is good for many things but in this industry it's what's best for business. Evan Millward from WCPO will be doing a follow up that should be posted by the morning. Edit: Evan's story is up. Watch the video: http://www.wcpo.com/news/local-news/attorney-kings-island-may-have-violated-federal-law-by-barring-boy-with-disabilities-from-rides The injury to others is what I meant when saying the waiver wouldn't do any good for the park. Just threw it in as an addition to what Disco said about waivers in the original post.
  18. This is unfortunate all around. Clearly he ahs been able to ride them in the past so is able to, but I completely understand Kings Island's policies as well. Even if they did allow them to sign a waiver to ride there is still the legal risk of an incident injuring others too that would then bring up legal complications for the park. Many parks now have these same standards in place or ones very simlar to them. Sorry for the kid that he is no longer able to ride them but also understand Kings Island's reasoning for its policies. As HTCO said it's a lose-lose for the park and unfortunately a loss for the kid as well.
  19. I miss this one so much. It was amazing when it originally opened with all the theming adn teh ride itself was fun too. Once it got gutted ti wasn't even half of what it was. This adn Phantom Theatre top my most missed attractions at the park. TR:TR was in my top 3 rides there when it was fully working.
  20. 1. Beast 2. Banshee 3. Phantom Theatre 4. Diamondback 5. Tomb Raider 6. White Water Canyon 7. Backwards Racer 8. Delirium 9. Kenton's Cove Keelboat Canal 10. Adventure Express / Firehawk
  21. If you can ride the others I'm sure Flight of Fear, Invertigo, and Firehawk would all be fine for you as well. Went a few weeks ago with a friend who is bigger and there were many rides that she could not fit on but she was able to ride all three of those.
  22. Yea we haven't had any real major waterslide additions in a long time. Mondo Monsoon was really the only slide addition as Rendezvous Run was more of a replacement. That's why I'd rather see a new slide tower/complex added soon in place of just a single water coaster. Would like to see a coaster like Wildebeest eventually but we need to improve capacity first for slides I think.
  23. I somewhat like the idea of using it sparingly on Beast to cut back on trims but I wouldn't want it to change the overall experience. And if it added speed in one spot it'd probably affect it in other places so probably would have to add more than expected. Plus if even a little bit would take away from it being considered completely a wooden coaster I wouldn't want that either. I think it's good enough as is.
  24. Is it just me, or is anyone else getting frustrated with all this "wasted" space being used for only 2 months out of the year? I get tired of hearing things like, "Can't use that building because it's a permanent 'Haunt' attraction" or " 'Haunt' occupies that space, so we can't use that area" and so on and so fourth. For people who don't give a rip about any type of "Haunt" attraction or festivities of any kind (like myself), it's just frustrating to read stuff like this. I understand that the "Haunt" celebration at the park is a huge draw, but it's a very small part of their whole operating season. I wish there wouldn't be so much emphasis placed on it. If KI needed a space for a new main season attraction, I hope that they wouldn't hesitate to use a space or a building that already existed and not over look it because it's currently being occupied by a "Haunt" attraction. I, for one, enjoyed the Action Theater and was sad to see it go. Many, MANY great memories of all the films that once were featured in that attraction. It's sad when things start changing, but it's nice to see when new things come. Unfortunately, nothing of interest is really being displayed as of now in that building for me. Perhaps one day in the future! I love Haunt but I hate seeing an attraction space wasted to just keep a haunt attraction set up inside it. The other permanent ones aren't a big deal because they aren't taking away from space. Club Blood and Wolf Pack aren't taking up an attractions area. I love Madame Fatale's but would rather see it moved to get a new attraction int hat space. However, I don't think the haunts are really taking away form anything either. These are spaces that they are not planning to use anyway or I think they'd take them out. It's not like the Action Theatre is really in use anymore without Urgent Scare there. And I don't see it coming back. Idealy I think the building would be better used to have anew dark ride built inside it.
  25. I would love to see us get a great looking and immersive dark ride like one of those, and then have them convert Boo Blasters into a standard (non shooting) dark ride themed to Peanuts.
