  1. Disney is being smart with their new IPs really. Yes they could crank out some rides for Star Wars right now to coincide with the new films but they are waiting to see what people like from the new ones first. In interviews they have stated that they plan to make new Star Wars attractions but want to see what hits with the audience first. Imagine if before Phantom Menace came out and they thought everyone would love Jar Jar Binks and made attractions at all of the parks based around his character. This is why it's smart to wait and see what people like the most. Agree with others too that with the current saturation of the market and initial cost of opening a new park from scratch that the most likely new parks to open will be new ones from Disney or Universal.
  2. Yea with Sea World, and others in the Orlando area, being theme parks they get the attention from more than just numbers. AT these parks the theming and immersion is just as, if not more, important than the height, speed, etc.
  3. As for EPCOT it is still very popular but doesn't have quite the same draw as the other parks. Magic Kingdom is the biggest draw since it is the quintessential Disney. Hollywood Studios is smaller but has some major rides and the two biggest thrill rides in the resort so it can get packed more easily with smaller footprint and less rides. Animal Kingdom offers some big attractions and something unique with the animals. I understand the complaints from some about replacing an educational ride with something fantasy. It kind of goes against the original vision of the park. But as stated they are a business and Norway didn't want to sponsor the pavilion anymore. Besides they aren't replacing everything an turning it into an Arrendale pavilion but just adding a ride. This might actually draw more crowds to see the rest of the educational material they have there. Would love to see some more rides added throughout the other countries. Would really help to update the park. Could see the Ratatouille ride from Disneyland Paris going into France pavilion, and Germany has an empty ride building that could be used for another dark ride. Had been rumors of a rapids ride for Canada that I think would be a great addition. This would allow the countries to update and have a bigger draw for guests, and the park as a whole, while still maintaining their educational value to with other exhibits and shows.
  4. YEa no matter what major new ride we get I don't think anything is going to top The Beast as the parks iconic ride.
  5. Got to watch this for the first time this year over the weekend. Wasn't sure if I'd get to as my group I was with were more into the coasters than a show but one was feeling a bit poor after Firehawk so we went to watch it while the other did FoF. Just as great as last year and love the new trapeze act and the silks. Also wish that there were some more new acts but what is there is fantastic. Though they coudl still change it up some as there were changes made during the season last year so might get some mroe new acts later in the season. Hoping we will ahve a new Skeleton Crew show at Halloween Haunt again this year too.
  6. I agree with gad198. I think one of the biggest aspects for a dive coaster going in as well si the fact that it is quite different from anything else the park already has, and the fact that the closest one is in Willaimsburg, VA is another boost for it. It's not going to be competing witha similar coaster close by. The fact that they are doing a history timeline of heir coasters on the construction walls seems to give a good indication that it will in fact be a coaster as well. The only other main type of coaster I can think of that they don't have is a wild mouse/spinning type and I feel like a dive coaster would probably be a bigger draw for their park so think it'd be more likley. Agree as well that an RMC conversion of Mean Streak would be great in the future as well. It is a good coaster and area for one. And on it's own is decent but can get pretty rough now.
  7. I don't think the ride reservation systems would necessarily make the day at the park any shorter. Most of them are set up right now where you get to skip the line on a ride but can't book your nex ride until that one is done, or like at Disney you pick your timesbut they are generaly spread out a bit as well, or else lmited to a certain numer. So you will be in line less but at the park just as long. This means you essentially have mroe time to spend in the shops adn restaurants. Many will probably use the time to get an extra few rides in, but if you don't have enough time between your ride time and the wait time for another ride you're likely to spend it looking at other stuff in the park. This will result in more purchases being made as many more people will be going into shops that would not have before or sit down to eat versus just grabbing a snack.
  8. Yea Jaws is the perfect movie for watching in a pool. I voted for PotC and Ghostbusters
  9. Yea a lot fo the windows in Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley have interactive stuff where you perform a spell and something will happen. There are also other interactive elements as well such as statues and fountains that are activated by the too. Only down part is can get lined up when it's busy for people to do it because it's not real easy. you have to perform the spell perfectly or it won't work.
  10. YEa they're new additions are packing the parks and the new merchandis has to be making a huge profit. The wands and beer aren't cheap but probably don't cost a lot to manufacture.
  11. And this is why Mako is the wrong choice for Sea World. As I said in that forum Mako is the wrong coaster for the Orlando Market and for potentially drawing guests away from either Universal or Disney. The majority of which are families with children who may not be tall enough to ride Mako but Cobra's Curse is in their wheelhouse. Now the question is will they want to make the drive down to Tampa? I disagree. Even if they put in a family coaster and ride there might be a bigger amount of people that could ride it, but it will get compared to everything Disney and Universal offer and Sea World will pull up short still. Mako gives Sea World something that no other park in the area offers. I think we're a bit biased and not as enthused by the announcement since we have a lot of similar coasters around us. But for Florida there really isn't anything like Mako nearby. So for crowds wanting a big, tall, fast coaster Sea World will be the place for it. For a fmily coaster they can go toDisney or Universal and be able to ride a multitude o other family rids as well and not jstu the one.
  12. I agree with everyone. It is a great ride, finally rode it last year. Went with some friends last summer one weekend and it was one of the only rides we did twice. And agree with you Magenta Lizard. Feel a little awkward at times waiting in line for the kids rides, especially when it's just me, but they are too much fun for me to care. Haven't gotten to get there yet for Woodstock's Glider's (first trip is planned for next weekend), but I think it will definley be an addition to my Planet Snoopy list of must rides with Surf Dog and RFYLCB
  13. YEa one plus is we know a good boat ride could fit in there since there has been a couple. I'd be happy with any classic style dark ride though, omnimover, boat ride or whatever there.
  14. That's kind of how I viewed it going for if they didn't do one story through it and did scenes was going through the year. Be kind of like the old Smurf's Enchanted Voyage. A boat dark ride would be nice but don't see them doing that much work to change it up when they have a good system in place already.
  15. Yea that would be great too. Can be a lot of fun without some huge storyline and just be scene like Winnie the Pooh. But between all their specials and the new movie I think they could easily make a storyline through the ride as well.
  16. Well if they did a Great Pumpkin themed ride they could keep some of the spooky elements to it. But think a bigger refurb would be better than just an overlay, the stuff in there could use a bit of work. And painting the cars and changing the queue room shouldn't cost too much. Can leave it as a fairly generic room just make it a little lighter and paint or new wallpaper and it's good to go. Could put Charlie Brown and Snoopy or someone in the balcony too. Also with the omnimover system if it goes back to a traditional dark ride again then they could put the cars back ont hat were removed and that would increase capacity even more.
  17. Really hoping with it's Omni mover system, which has good capacity, they don't change that aspect and keep it as a dark ride. But with it's location and the new movie coming out this fall, I am hoping they make it into a classic dark ride themed to Peanuts. And then get a Voyage tot he Iron Reef style interactive dark ride over where Action Theater was. Would be great to have two dark rides in the park, and only need to have one be interactive so be nice to have one in Planet Snoopy that is a classic omnimover dark ride. Peanuts is one that I think could be done well but on a budget too. They aren't very detailed cartoons so could do pretty basic characters and backgrounds and have it looks true to the art.
  18. I've thought about it myself. Take trips down to Louisville on occasion but have never been to KK. And now that you can get a 2 day ticket for basically $30.00, even if it isn't too great still be some fun and not cost too much. Plus with it's future up in the air, might not have many other chances
  19. YEa that would be the biggest issue for one now I feel. If they are going to make it a major attraction all it's own it would need to be top quality and a good length (especiaily if charging for it). Right now I feel that are two best ones are Slaughterhouse and Madame Fatale's, but I don't feel that either is strong enough in both quality and length to be a major attraction and a separate upcharge. The quality in general is pretty good for them but would need to be longer, however they are already filling their spaces as is, so not sure if they could really be made longer without making major changes to the structure. Slaughterhouse could be possible, but I doubt they would make alterations to the Crypt building for a haunt, even a year round one.
  20. Yea I agree with you. Plus having a great interactive dark ride like VttIR at KI would just make Boo blasters look that much worse in comparison when you ride them close together. But defintiely agree with the sentiment that it should not replace boo blasters. I think it should be refurbed into a new classic omnimover dark ride. Capacity coudl be increased by putting the cars that were removed to allow more space for the interactive element of Scooby Doo and Boo Blasters as well. A Panuts themed classic dark ride would be perfect there adn could be themed around the new movie coming out or a classic story like Great Pumpkin or jsut a greatest hits type thing. For something like this ride I think the old Action Theater building is the perfect spot for it. Since they want to theme the rides to each park with a story for it's history that section of the park has some of the most history with the connection to Coney Island and jsut the classic midway feel.
  21. As far as that I would say Son of Beast was mine. Get banged around on that and was not a good design in the cars for tall people. But I always enjoyed it still. And would kind of make a game and see fi I could go the whole ride without having the lap bar cinch down more from the forces. Usually after bringing the bar down to a secure tight position, the forces during the ride would manage to bring it down another 2-3 clicks. As for rides I really like but have unpopular public opinion for the most part I would agree with the others about BLSC. I really enjoy it, especially the tunnel at the end is one of my favorite coaster elements at KI since it is pitch black and swerving around fast. The entire track is a fun ride though
  22. Yea I'm hoping it's just a major overhaul. Maybe they are going to slowly do them all and give them more detailed refurb and add new lighting packages. Coney Mall could look amazing in a few years if that is the case. Hopefully this would include some chaser lights along Racer's run along the midway
  23. I don't recall them ever mentioning swapping teh library of rides around to the different parks. The way they talked it seemed like each park's rde would be themed to that given park's history, like WMG being themed around legends of the Mountain at teh center of their park. Curious waht they will use for Kings Island. Also agree with you about the merchandising opportunities. These atrractions give the parks lots of new merchadising opportunitis without them having to pay for any licensing. Not only do they have the usualy opportunities of other rides for merchandising such as t-shirts, shotglasses, mugs, etc. but with all the different creatures in the ride they could make action figures/toys and busts of them as well.
  24. Agree it is definitely not worth paying for anymore, though if they can make revenue off of it don't see them making it free. Though they do keep lowering the price or making bundle deals with it. Also don't agree with people saying it needs to be removed and a new ride there. It is a great spot for a new ride or an X-Base extension but there is still plenty of other space to expand without having to remove something.
  25. Yea if they could do some better upkeep on it I think ti would be a nice addition to keep for awhile still. I wet through it last year since we got the free admission with the Gold Pass. It was nice to walk through as it was but I'm glad I didn't have to pay for it. It can be fun and the kids in it seemed to enjoy it a lot too. It does make for a nice break from the crowds and rides and is a scenic walk to get away for a few minutes.
