Haha I agree 100% about Mantis! Granted I've only been to a handful of amusement parks so I'm sure there are far worse rides out there, but Mantis is the only coaster that I won't ride again. By far the most painful coaster I've been on. And I loved King Cobra.

I hear you, but at the same time a ride op's job is not to make their own job more fun. If someone gets bored doing the same thing over and over, then it's safe to say they probably shouldn't be working in ride operations. Auto-spiels or no spiels for me. That's not to say a ride op can't be friendly and personable; I'd just prefer they be friendly and personable off-mic.

I disagree with these posts, strongly. As children, my brother and I got to do everything we wanted to in HB Land on each trip to KI, then my parents got their turn to ride the coasters that they enjoyed. While we didn't get to ride those coasters because we weren't tall enough, my brother and I were always fascinated with them and enjoyed just watching them run their course. Plus we got to spend time together as a family in line. And it taught us that the world doesn't revolve around us; why should we be the only ones who get to ride what we want to? Why shouldn't we share the joy of a trip to KI with our parents by letting them ride the rides that they like? As my parents would roll into the station, they were typically greeted with us geeking out just as much or moreso than they did while riding the ride as we grilled them with questions about how high up they were, how fast they went, and what the heck it's like to go upside-down. I mean think about what some of you are saying. You'd rather get a sitter than get to spend that time with your child(ren) while also getting to enjoy the rides that you like? "Have you heard of parenting??" Shame on all of you who question the parenting methods of any parent who does that. I feel like my parents have been personally attacked on here, and they're not here to defend themselves. It's one thing to say "I wouldn't do that with my kid(s)". I can respect anyone that has a different philosophy, even if I might disagree. But to say things like "have they heard of parenting??" crosses the line of "I disagree" and into the realm of a personal attack.

I got sun poisoning at Soak City this past Saturday. It's still really red but the swelling is down and it no longer hurts. Just really itchy.Coconut oil at bedtime, cover with clothing, you'll wake up feeling much better. Good luck. I need a coaster fix. Haven't quite gotten the nerve to go to KI alone. Hell, I can't even go out to eat or the movies alone. I have issues.... Are you married/do you have kids? I don't have kids but I am married, and while I love my wife more than anything, I cherish my alone time more than ever. I have no problems being out in public alone. But I know that everyone is different, and some are vastly different on this topic. Plus it's way different for women.

Why was Top Gun built where it was?

Yeah if my memory is correct, the monorail passed right over the "tunnel" in Top Gun/The Bat's queue. -
Well said, this is pretty much exactly what I was going to post. It probably just seemed faster because it was the fastest coaster around. And like you said, if you ride DB then Beast, Beast sort of loses its edge a little IMO. It just doesn't seem to be the same ride that I remember when you compare it to DB. Still a great ride by all means, just not as intense as it once seemed.

Your 10% math is off a bit I guess it also depends on wait times for the day. My wife and I went on a Saturday during Haunt on a perfect weather day for our only visit of the year, and I'll admit we just bought FL at first for $80 per person. The only 2 FL+ rides were Beast and Firehawk, so we figured we'd be fine with just FL. Then we saw the lines for both rides, and the extra $30 for just those 2 was more than worth it to us, especially considering we just spent $160 for FL just a few hours prior. Even with FL+ we still barely got through all the rides and attractions we wanted to before we needed to leave. But on a less (but still) crowded day where we had more time, we might have saved the $30 to wait 45-60 minutes or so for the few FL+ attractions and zipped through the FL lines. So I guess I can see why some would get only FL and not FL+. With Banshee, FOF and Firehawk being the 3 FL+ rides now though, I think I'd go straight for the FL+ if I was going on a Saturday or holiday.

I thought you just walked right under it? -
If you're already dropping $320, what's 60 more bucks? I don't think the majority of people buying Fast Lane OR Fast Lane Plus are those who can barely afford it, but I could be wrong. $60 more is enough for dinner at the Reds HOF grille for a family of 4; could be used for part of an all day dining plan for 4, could cover the cost of parking and lunch at the Festhause, could be used to get on one of the "up charge" attractions, etc....At some point, people are going to say "enough is enough" and move on. $60 can be used in a lot of different ways depending on what the family is most interested in and can afford. Agreed, but $320 would go over 5x further!
-
I don't either, but I think those getting it are those who can afford it, and can certainly afford $15 more dollars (or whatever the difference is between the 2) per person.

Six Flags Ride Operators

My favorite part was the guy that said "off the roof". I think he started to say "off the charts", then switched it to "through the roof" midway through his sentence. -
I would, at the very least, expect crowds to be more well behaved Thursday through Saturday*. * stated at the risk of being accused of stereotyping

Really? To me, if you were going to spring for a Fast Lane, the Plus will be a no brainer... Absolutely. If you're already dropping $80 for a FL ticket, why not go $95 and get the Plus?

I grey out way more on Vortex, but Banshee is definitely intense.
-
I too sort of expect this to be a "transitional year" as you said for AZ, but at the same time I'm not exactly sure what they can do with Invertigo and Drop Tower to theme those to fit the Banshee/Bat theme they have going on. However, even if the Reds HOF Grill building wasn't there, the whole DB midway area is pretty much wide open C (or V) shape that faces directly towards Planet Snoopy. Plus that building was obviously there first, so it's tough for me to blame that as the reason why DB feels disconnected from Rivertown.
-
That's a gripe of mine too though obviously nothing can be done about it now. But before Diamdonback was installed, the transition was much more defined. The Diamondback photo booth, queue entrance and station really opened up that are right where the transition is, to the point where the line between Rivertown and PS is pretty blurred.

Comma deleted. It IS the most wonderful B&M hypercoaster located at BGW. There is no more wonderful B&M hypercoaster that is located at BGW, but other places.... Ah ok, so the way the commas were situated in BB7's post, he was saying that he thought Apollo's Chariot was the most wonderful B&M hyper regardless of location, and your way of disagreeing was to remove the 2nd comma I thought you were just giving a general grammar lesson. Takes a while for my brain to get going in the morning sometimes.
-
But not me. BB7 used a comma where each natural pause occurred in his sentence. I feel like the sentence wouldn't read as fluidly if he were to remove the 2nd comma.
-
Not sure how the queue is setup for Goliath, but you actually bring up a decent point. If getting a ticket, leaving the line, then rejoining the line later at the same spot you left that you are apparently entitled to with your ticket is a common occurrence, then that could be quite annoying for those who wait in line from the time they receive their ticket.
-
Agreed, I don't understand why they wouldn't just pluck money from the money-making tree they have to pay for that.
-
That definitely makes the most sense. I'm sure common sense will prevail. I doubt they will hold up the line in search for just one missing number. But if there's suddenly a significant jump in a number, then it's probably from someone who attempted to line jump -- though I assume that just enacting this system will be a MAJOR deterrent for potential line jumpers.
