  1. That is truly sad, regardless of whether or not the cyclone did this to him. I pray for the family.
  2. I think this is great news for Six Flags. I know many have bashed SF in the past, but from what I am reading in trip reports and general talk on the net is that SF is on the right track to clean up their image.
  3. Thanks, I'll have to check it out. I am an amateur magician and I love to watch others perform. I haven't been to KI this year, so, where is the Dora theater?
  4. Actually, it was not the entire band Twisted Sister that took umbrage at the name. It was just the guitar player, JJ Finch, whom owns all the rights to the Twisted Sister name. Coincidentally, he produced a couple of albums for my favorite band...Sevendust.
  5. Actually, FOF1996, Dragster has been running consistently for the last 2-3 years.
  6. ^Yeah, I heard that crazy rumor over at Pointbuzz. Of all the wacky ideas.
  7. And, the other rumor is that Thunderhawk is being moved to Michigan's Adventure. This would be a good move to take Dominator from GL and move it to KD. I don't see any other coasters being moved to KI since we already have Firehawk.
  8. Yeah, but I think Maverick is going to be the new mindset for Cedar Fair. They don't have the $$$$ to build record breakers any more. And with Maverick, it has been accepted by the GP pretty well and it doesn't break any kind of record.
  9. Oh, believe me folks. This is going to happen. It's going to be cheap to move it as well. Why? They only are removing the track which will later be welded to the Eiffel Tower... Then, Dragster's tower will have a restaurant added to the top to make it the world's first strata restaurant. By the way, did I mention that I am dating Beyonce'?
  10. ^I was gonna say just that. Where in the world does anyone get the KI hates B&M or Intamin? Oh, because one hasn't been built there before. Well, guess what? Like Ronny said, CF now owns KI and it'a whole new ballgame. I wouldn't be surprised to see a B&M and Intamin added in the next 5-10 years.
  11. I have way too many questions about a wood inverter. First, how would the track be laid upside down? It's not like steel rails at all. Next, how would you make inverted cars for said track? Maybe if I was on something it would make sense. Anyway, my choice(s) would be to bring back a lot of the classic flats like a Tilt-A-Whirl, Rotor. The Jump 2 looks interesting. I'm not really sure what is left that is non-coaster that would fit in Nick Central. I'd also like to see a ride like Skyhawk at Cedar Point.
  12. Somewhere, Anton Schwarzkoph is gagging. About the only similarities between a Wild Mouse and Wildcat is that they are both steel coasters and have the word Wild within their names. I think you missed the point, Interp. It wasn't about whether or not WildCat is a wild mouse or not. It's whether or not wild mouse coasters are the least reliable coasters out there. And, from what I know, wild mouse coasters are in fact not unreliable. And, is not a wild mouse coaster about tight turns and quick drops? Both of which WildCat has. If it's not a wild mouse, then what kind is it?
  13. ^I'm still not sure how they didn't know about the rider comfort issues with all of the computer programs out there that do the math for them. And, even though I no nothing of engineering, even I knew that taking a heartline roll at 70mph was not a good idea to start with.
  14. ^I would guess that a Wild Mouse would be far more reliable than coasters like Kingda Ka or Dragster. Since when are the mice coasters so unreliable? Wildcat at Cedar Point is like a wild mouse and it's pretty fun.
  15. Well said, Hank. Last year at FearFest, I was waiting in line for one of the last rides on The Beast for the night. I was really tired, but my fiance' wanted to wait for the front seat. We finally got to the front of the line and was about to board when we were asked if we would mind waiting one cycle to allow a handicapped guest ride. I was extremely exhausted and probably a little crabby, yet I smiled and said, "Sure, go ahead". I cannot for one second deny anyone a ride on The Beast, front row, handicapped or not. The guest smiled at us and the staff thanked us. That made me feel really good that I could be a part of making someone's day a little brighter, especially when they don't have the capability of standing in line all day like I do.
  16. He was referring to the coaster, not the restaurant. Paramount had no plans for a coaster coming to KI this season. CF changed those plans and transplanted X-Flight from Geauga Lake to KI becoming Firehawk.
  17. I think the double drop was for a big splash! Not sure if it had anything to do with the way KCKC was operated. I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, which is not entirely impossible.
  18. Yeah but you also got too think about it this way! Yes kids might not know about most HB, But Mom and Dad grew up on these HB Characters. So it is a chance for Mom and Dad to reintroduce them to there kids. I think it would be great for HB to make a comeback. And folks like to pick on Screamscape, but from my view they seem to get a lot correct. (And they get it correct well before the actual announcements are made.) So as the story goes.... Those that do know, Do Talk to Screamscape. Apparently, Dollywood is the only park who feels this way. Just ask CF how they felt about their plans for Maverick winding up on Sctreamscape before they were ready to make the announce ment. And, my POV is Screamscape generally gets it wrong. They thought when CP was planning on Wicked Twister, that the footers were for a coaster just like Superman at SFMM, but larger in scale. And, of course they are going to post things as a rumor. This covers their butts when they are completely wrong, like bringing back the old HB characters. If I e-mail them with fake credentials, I can guarantee that I could send them a rumor and bam, it appears on screamscape.
  19. I would think a trip to the chiropractor is in order. Color me jealous.
  20. I'm gonna guess this rumor is false. Why would CF want to bring back characters that most kids don't even remember when it seems to me that the most logical thing to do would be to introduce the Nick charaters to the rest of their parks? I know, Screamscape is usually full of it.
  21. ^From what I understand and have read, Firehawk shouldn't be down for very long. When it was X Flight at GL, even their maintenance staff had it up and running pretty quickly after any breakdown I witnessed.
  22. I never called anyone an idiot. That was just your poor attempt at starting a childish online arguement. In reference to my quote: when someone comes over a message board and claims they know what the stipulations of a billion dollar deal only because they are a former ride operator, it sounds as if someone is trying to gain attention by claiming they happen to know more than most. Deals like the purchase between CF and Paramount fall through all the time, and normally, at the last minute due to the lenders getting cold feet. Claiming that CF confirmed the purchase at the end of the 1st quarter 2006 to the point where they directed Paramount on how to operate a park they did not own yet is rather foolish. Rumors of CF purchasing Paramount started becoming a reality the 3rd week of May in 2006, practically a month after PKI opened. Loan terms of the purchase finally were officially disclosed less than a week before the actual purchase. It would really undermine the integrity of a company if a ride operator would happen to know that the potential buyer of a park was already making decisions and running the park before the proper paperwork was actually signed. Now if you want to twist my comment by trying to discount what we discuss here, so be it. There are many visitors that claim to have inside information about what ride is going up next year, where it is going, etc. A majority of us here will not make those claims. But if you are going to make comments that you have inside information, be prepared to back it up with more proof than jsut because you operated the ride for two years. I'm sure the administrators and mods here have had many opportunities to disclose sensitive information about the park, but have wisely not mentioned a word. And in return, they have a great relationship with the park. They also fit the comment: Those who talk don't know; those who know, don't talk. Funny because you seem to have a lot to say. But, what he is saying is a matter of public knowledge. Not once has he said he knew anything before anyone else. And if he did know anything, he certainly has not posted it on any message board trying to brag on "insider info" he might or might not have had. And getting back to topic, yes, I remember KCKC's green, unattractive water. I still miss the old flume. The scenic view was awesome and I loved the thrill of the drop.
  23. Duh! There's always an exception to the rule. For the most part, it always holds true. Besides, we're talking about amusement parks, not the CIA or FBI.
  24. I don't know the distance in miles, but it is three hours for me coming from Huntington, WV.
