In 1987 when Vortex was new my Mom and I waited about 20-25 min. I guess we got lucky. I think the longest I ever waited was when The Bat opened. The line was backed up all the way past where The Happy Days Diner is now. I believe that there was a"whack-a Bat" game there between shake -rattle and roll and the Happy days diner, but I don't remember what food place was there in 1981. Of course it wasn't the happy days diner then. Does anyone remember what food place was there? And does anyone remember the "Whack-a-bat??? When The Bat didn't work out they had the game whack-a-mole. I didn't understand where the bats went, of course I was 8 or 9 what did I know. The Bat died off and so did my whack-a bat. I thought the bats were cute and I loved the design on the trains of The Bat, because I loved bats. I think I was an odd child!!! LOL!!! I still love bats. Back to the subject at hand, I think my family and I waited maybe 3 hours for The Bat. So that was my longest wait, I think. I always wanted a bat as a pet after I saw a kid on David Letterman with one. He was really cute and pretty friendly. (The Bat, not the kid)
  2. I just had to re-post this quote. Thought it was pretty funny. Not true, but funny.
  3. He has also been know to work the lemon chill stand from time to time...
  4. Too true, tggr, that the name has never really been appropriate. They only share the helices in common. SOB needs a tunnel. How about Son Of Pain?
  5. Sometimes the spinning mechanism on DZ doesn't work. It doesn't affect the public being able to ride. I tried to get a re-ride on Son of Beast one time (before CF) and they would not let me. They told me that I had to walk around and get back in line, which there was none.
  6. I have also heard that there is plenty of land over by the new Firehawk area. I really have no idea.
  7. I saw a kid throw up at Cedar Point after riding Millennium Force. Actually, he threw up on the ride, then threw up on the stairs on his way down. I figured a looping coaster would make people throw up before a ride like MF.
  8. I could marathon SOB for people with brian/head injuries...then join them afterwards.
  9. Compared to which other giant top spin? I wasn't comparing it to another giant top spin. I guess I should have said any top spin.
  10. I always wanted to try to marathon Son of Beast.
  11. It was a lot more than discussion. Did you not click the links to the pics? Plus, did you not see the pic posted by Delorean Rider? It's a pic I saw over at Coasterbuzz first.
  12. Here is the Keel Boat. Here is the Log Flume

I'm quite sure that those lines were in fact that long back in the day. And, back then, I didn't ask anyone how long the line was, it really took that long.
  14. OK, maybe I over-simplified. I'm sure that they looked into every detail of obtaining the parks and felt that there was more chance of success than failure. There's a lot of other things they considered. Executive A: Let's buy Paramount Parks! Executive B: No way, we could buy the whole SF chain for that!
  15. There is a discussion going on over at Coasterbuzz. Plenty of evidence of a coaster going in Canada.

I can remember when The Racers opened, the wait was 2-3 hours. The Beast, in the early years, was like 4-6 hours. The Vortex was about 3-5 hours.
  17. ^Actually, you didn't board a log, but a keelboat. It looked quite different from a log. The Kings Mill Log Flume had the log shaped boats. I really loved this ride and now I'm really sorry it got replaced by that horrid excuse for a giant top spin.
  18. I don't think that they really over-paid for Paramount Parks. They must honestly believe that their plan will work. I'm sure that they weighed the good with the bad and felt the risk is really low compared to the reward.
  19. ^b. For one, not everyone has a problem with the banging on Vortex. So, why wouldn't it exist unless the majority of the people find it to be painful and/or has low ridership or is just too expensive to maintain?
  20. Chestplate...sorry, was just using Dane Cook terms... Yes, sternum.
  21. Not all of the injuries were minor. One patron broke their chest plate.
  22. If you read the last page, a couple of people explained why there won't be any more restraints like TTD and MF, at least in the U.S...Incidents with Perilous Plunge at Knott's Berry Farm and Superman:Ride of Steel at SFNE.

    Whoops! Read that in reverse!

What makes you say that CF now puts safety below maintenance costs? I've seen no proof of this.
  25. I'm going to take some pics when I attend Fearfest this year. I should be able to submit some photos for you, Ryan. Is winzip still around?
