Geauga Lake rides side to close.
KIBeast replied to FOFirehawkFAN's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It's funny how many people are up in arms over the closing of GL. I am saddened by the closing too. However, where were all of these people when GL needed attendance and how come no one apparently was using the word of mouth method to spread the news about how they liked GL? If you really wanted it to stay open, you really had to go to said park or at least talk it up to friends. It seems that this was not happening. -
Building Cedar Fair Brand Awareness
KIBeast replied to Cory Butcher's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Not to get off topic, but I have found as of recently, I don't save one dime shopping at Wal Mart. In fact, it's become more expensive than our local supermarket. The only reason to even go there is pretty much convenience. But, I don't shop Wally World any more. I originally went for my pet supplies, but now we have a Pet Mart and they pretty much price in competition with Wal Mart. Here's a case example. I went to a Wal Mart and did all of my shoppping there, including pet supplies. The only thing I didn't buy was any kind of meat and I didn't buy anything that wasn't on my list. Somehow, I managed to spend $120.00 when in the past, I could buy everything there, including meat and spend the same amount. I also learned not to buy meat from them either as they flash freeze all of their meat and it sits for a year frozen before it ever hits the shelves. Sorry for the little tirade on Wally World, but I am through with them. Back on topic, I like the idea of a jacket whether or not it brings them brand recognition. Seems like a good will kind of thing to do. Maybe that's saying sorry for closing GL. -
^I was going to say the same thing. Firehawk is a pretty awesome ride in itself, but I thought Dominator was much more fun. I wouldn't have minded if we received Thunderhawk. It's a pretty good coaster considering most people consider them hang-n-bangs.

^Yeah, I think I'm gonna head over there next summer. You've got Stormrunner, the Great Bear, Farenheit, Lightning Racers, Wild Mouse, Coal Cracker, Canyon River Rapids...looks like a good collection. I was on their web site, but I don't see any "thrill" rides listed. Do they have anything like Drop Zone, Power Tower, Delirium or any flats large or small? Other than a carousel or something low thrills.

Building Cedar Fair Brand Awareness
KIBeast replied to Cory Butcher's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Not sure about the need to create brand awareness either. Whenever I mention Cedar Fair to someone whom is not "in the know" they assume I'm talking about Cedar Point. I then follow up with the CF is the company that runs CP, KI, KD, C, PCW, and G America. Most people just look at me like they understood what I said, but just kinda acknowledge with a blank look. That seems to be the only time I wished someone in the GP knew what CF is. Seems they don't really care. -
Can you ride at CP?
KIBeast replied to Miss Hysteria's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
^And I would bet that Americans spend more money on amusement parks more than any nation in the world. -
^Yet another reason to visit Hersheypark. Been wanting to go for years now. Just a bit of a long drive. I liked KCKC better than the log flume. Loved the quiet and scenic trip around the tree tops.

MA OFFICIALLY gets [Thunderhawk]
KIBeast replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Surprised that they are not changing the name again. I guess MA fans should be happy that they are finally getting a good steel coaster. I rode it at GL and thought it was pretty fun, non-stop. Wonder if the trains have been refurbished or if they are planning on getting new ones? The previous trains looked pretty chewed up. -
^Shoulder restraints? Wha?
-
^That was very well thought out. I hope that closing the ride side will make GL profitable again. Only problem is, their season is severely shortened since it's waterpark only now. Not sure why we received Firehawk instead of Dominator. Sure, you may have needed to take out a few more trees, but, it seems they have plenty of space. To me, Dominator is much more fun than Firehawk, although I like Firehawk. Ok, truthfully, I haven't been on it since the move, but as X Flight, it was fun. I understand that the new location is a huge improvement over where GL had it.

Oh, the irony of that statement.

6F In Trouble for Carrothead Club Buffet?
KIBeast replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Talk about your frivolous lawsuit. Is he going to sue the Greenbay Packers and the cheeseheads next? -
^Still can't figure out why B&M feel that they need so many trim breaks on their coasters. Look at Intamin...seems to be the opposite.

Dominator currently being removed.

The dismantling started yesterday, I believe. -

What bars are you referring to when you say the bars on TTD and MF were lengthened? The t-bars? It just seems highly unlikely that those would be changed. -

That's a shame, Interpreter, that Intamin won't use the lap bars any more. I think Dragster has the best T-bars and to me was taking MF t-bar and making it better. But, after the incidents, no more. -

Well, maybe not all of them. But, it appears that many of them are longer. Apparently, the new belts keep popping up. -

I've heard over at Pointbuzz that all of the seatbelts for MF are now longer and accomodate more people. Would like to see it for myself. Here's the link to the MF Seatbelt Length thread. -
I think you should wait and ride it before you judge it. Just because you've seen an animated video does not mean you have any idea how thrilling or not thrilling it will be.

This is very disturbing. It is disturbing...not to mention really cruel. -
Fahrenheit- New at Hersheypark
KIBeast replied to Captain Nemo's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
There is absolutley very little in common between Farenheit and Maverick. It's an Intamin, of course it's going to look similar. Fahrenheit does not use LIMS, it's a vertical chain lift. The only thing even close to being similar is the Cobra Roll element. None of the other elements were used on Maverick. So yes, the track looks the same and so will the trains but that's about where it stops. Again, it's an Intamin and no, it's not a Maverick "spin-off". -
^Actually, the color on Magnum is molly orange.

Dismantling Geauga Lake...
KIBeast replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I posted this in another forum, but, I heard rumor that Texas Twister was pictured on a brochure for Great America for 2008. Not sure if there's any truth to it or not.
