Thanks for posting that Interpreter. Brings much needed attention to my little hometown park. I am going to try and go to their event even though it's geared for the little ones. Mainly, I want to ride Big Dipper, the Kite Flyers, the Haunted House, and the Flyers(don't know the name). I drive by there all the time and I am really impressed with all of the new paint jobs and new attractions that have been added. I want to try that new ride that looks like a ferris wheel with spinning cars.

The first drop is Mean Streaked. They both have brakes. Maybe in different spots, but both have brakes on the first drop.

^Actually, that is a good question. Would EV still be around had it not been smurfed?
-
^I think that's a pretty safe bet. Well, let's see. They have three major coasters opening in one year. Didn't someone already try that once before?

I guess Cedar Point is guilty too seeing how Maverick had a heartline roll and everything...

Actually, I believe there is grandfathering...unless it was done away with in the last 6-7 years. Case in point. The Junior College I attended never had elevator acess for many years, even after the ADA. The building is historical. It was only in the last five years that they made minor changes to accomodate. I know the head of the school and it was not done because of the ADA...it was done because the school wanted this change...there was no being forced by the government.

Building Cedar Fair Brand Awareness
KIBeast replied to Cory Butcher's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I kinda think that the decision had pretty much been made before the end of the season. However, the final vote by the board to make it official was after the season. Just my opinion. -
It's not that Intamin is a bad manufacturer...they are just using new technology that hasn't been perfected. Then again, LIM technology hasn't exaclty been perfected either. It just happens to be more reliable, at least for now.

New for 2008: Grain of Salt:The Ride!

Nick will not be replaced with Peanuts characters. If anything, Cedar Point is the park that may end up with Nick Universe and replacing Snoopy and the gang.

Building Cedar Fair Brand Awareness

^I thought that they told the GP with season passes that HH would be an upcharge next year. Could be wrong. I think it should be an extra upcharge anyways. The parks are spending all of this extra money to do the Halloween thing and then no extra money comes in(outside of the sector that buys tickets)? Doesn't sound like a good business decision to me. -
^Nah, you're thinking of Millennium Force. Anyway, good to hear that they finally reached 1 million riders. It only took how many seasons?

107 flips on a top-spin!?
KIBeast replied to Captain Nemo's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Did you get that term "bezerk mode" from RCT? It's funny if you did. I would give it a try. From what I understand, TR:TR will never be able to do that many flips. Being a giant top spin and all. -
Geauga Lake rides side to close.
KIBeast replied to FOFirehawkFAN's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It's funny how many people are up in arms over the closing of GL. I am saddened by the closing too. However, where were all of these people when GL needed attendance and how come no one apparently was using the word of mouth method to spread the news about how they liked GL? If you really wanted it to stay open, you really had to go to said park or at least talk it up to friends. It seems that this was not happening. -
Building Cedar Fair Brand Awareness
KIBeast replied to Cory Butcher's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Not to get off topic, but I have found as of recently, I don't save one dime shopping at Wal Mart. In fact, it's become more expensive than our local supermarket. The only reason to even go there is pretty much convenience. But, I don't shop Wally World any more. I originally went for my pet supplies, but now we have a Pet Mart and they pretty much price in competition with Wal Mart. Here's a case example. I went to a Wal Mart and did all of my shoppping there, including pet supplies. The only thing I didn't buy was any kind of meat and I didn't buy anything that wasn't on my list. Somehow, I managed to spend $120.00 when in the past, I could buy everything there, including meat and spend the same amount. I also learned not to buy meat from them either as they flash freeze all of their meat and it sits for a year frozen before it ever hits the shelves. Sorry for the little tirade on Wally World, but I am through with them. Back on topic, I like the idea of a jacket whether or not it brings them brand recognition. Seems like a good will kind of thing to do. Maybe that's saying sorry for closing GL. -
^I was going to say the same thing. Firehawk is a pretty awesome ride in itself, but I thought Dominator was much more fun. I wouldn't have minded if we received Thunderhawk. It's a pretty good coaster considering most people consider them hang-n-bangs.

^Yeah, I think I'm gonna head over there next summer. You've got Stormrunner, the Great Bear, Farenheit, Lightning Racers, Wild Mouse, Coal Cracker, Canyon River Rapids...looks like a good collection. I was on their web site, but I don't see any "thrill" rides listed. Do they have anything like Drop Zone, Power Tower, Delirium or any flats large or small? Other than a carousel or something low thrills.

Building Cedar Fair Brand Awareness
KIBeast replied to Cory Butcher's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Not sure about the need to create brand awareness either. Whenever I mention Cedar Fair to someone whom is not "in the know" they assume I'm talking about Cedar Point. I then follow up with the CF is the company that runs CP, KI, KD, C, PCW, and G America. Most people just look at me like they understood what I said, but just kinda acknowledge with a blank look. That seems to be the only time I wished someone in the GP knew what CF is. Seems they don't really care. -
Can you ride at CP?

^And I would bet that Americans spend more money on amusement parks more than any nation in the world. -
^Yet another reason to visit Hersheypark. Been wanting to go for years now. Just a bit of a long drive. I liked KCKC better than the log flume. Loved the quiet and scenic trip around the tree tops.

MA OFFICIALLY gets [Thunderhawk]
KIBeast replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Surprised that they are not changing the name again. I guess MA fans should be happy that they are finally getting a good steel coaster. I rode it at GL and thought it was pretty fun, non-stop. Wonder if the trains have been refurbished or if they are planning on getting new ones? The previous trains looked pretty chewed up. -
^Shoulder restraints? Wha?
-
^That was very well thought out. I hope that closing the ride side will make GL profitable again. Only problem is, their season is severely shortened since it's waterpark only now. Not sure why we received Firehawk instead of Dominator. Sure, you may have needed to take out a few more trees, but, it seems they have plenty of space. To me, Dominator is much more fun than Firehawk, although I like Firehawk. Ok, truthfully, I haven't been on it since the move, but as X Flight, it was fun. I understand that the new location is a huge improvement over where GL had it.

Oh, the irony of that statement.
