^You're talking one instance. Not to mention, in an overall operating season, a few days downtime does not a bad coaster make.

Busch Entertainment Corporation moving
KIBeast replied to Browntggrr's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The rumor of selling the parks is not just amongst employees. I saw this months ago on here, Coasterbuzz, and maybe even Pointbuzz. From what I have read, if everything goes as planned, the PP aquisition will be leveled out by 2012. -
In the case of the Eagles, Paramount decided to move them to make room for IJ:ST even though it was proven unnecessary. PT bit it because that location has been several attractions over the years and it was time to give the place a new facelift not to mention I didn't see that great of ridership in the last two years or so. Let's not forget that Paramount was responsible for both.

I've heard many people say they think Toomer was just lazy when it came to design and all. Know how he thought of using a loop? By bending a wire coat hanger.
-
If you really want to see some swaying, watch an impulse coaster in action. And yes, the loop on TT is larger, but that was the only one and the last one. It took them how many years to figure that one out?
-
^That's one thing I can't understand. How come B&M doesn't do like two loops in a row or two corkscrews in a row or any two elements in a row? Way off track, but, how come Arrow never made large loops, but, rather used the same size loops, just higher off the ground?

Not having rode it myself this past season, I was under the impression that Villain had greatly improved with the re-tracking and the removal of trick track.

What about this ride? I think it looks slammin'. 9MJbW4_r9Is

Geauga Lake Fans Can't Say Goodbye
KIBeast replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Yes, CF was darned if they do, darned if they don't. Many people were somewhat agreeing with the sentiment that the park had too many rides and coasters. CF started to downsize last season. Many people moaned and complained about removing two coasters when in the same breath, they were stating how GL was over-developed. Then, they started hearing more complaining when it was rumored that Dominator and Thunderhawk were being removed. Yet, those same people were still claiming that they agreed with what CF was trying to do. But still, they weren't doing the most important thing of all, actually visiting GL. Nor were they spreading the "good word" about the park either. -
Great America: New name and ride
KIBeast replied to rcmaster's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I don't think KI needs another wood coaster. My choice would be steel hyper, inverted, or floorless. -
^Hey, thanks for the update on Undertaker. Hope his health gets better. Tell him his fans miss him and we hope things improve.
-
Well, I wish him all the best! Maybe he'll return, maybe not. Either way, HH kicks FF's butt!
-
Zodiac was indeed fun! It used to really scare me. It's kinda funny. I can take a coaster that goes 400ft. in the air, but I can't stand skyline type rides or ferris wheels. They just freak me out.
-
It is definitely worth it, Ryan. That is a fun haunted house. Not scary, but fun. I didn't read the article, but isn't it one of the only gravity driven haunted houses left? I think that's what I remember. That, and the fact that it was nearly considered a coaster due to the chain lift or something of that nature.
-
If the event possibly becomes an upcharge? It will be an upcharge in 2008. Ryan mentioned the possibility, but that has not been 100 percent announced or confirmed, as hauntguy said lol. We're back on topic now, and if anyone is gonna question the original poster, any other poster in this topic, or chime in their opinions, the least you can do is read the entire topic to get a feel for the context and subject being discussed. The problem was not the crowds, he expected that he said. He said he had a problem with how the crowds were handled and regulated and wished it had been done in a similar fashion to Knott's event which is what they're trying to model KI's after in a few ways. I did read his entire post and the entire thread. No one was saying he was an idiot. No one was questioning if he was a newbie to the industry or HH. Yeah, he said he expected busy crowds. But, he also stated he thought it was gonna be just like HH at KBF. Being in the biz as he says he has been, he should full well know that HH at KI was not going to be on par with KBF considering this is the first year for HH at KI and KBF's has been going on nearly as long as KI has been in existence. I feel for him that he had a bad experience. I've had them too and voiced them in the past. That's all fine and dandy and you'll notice that Ryan even stated that we were not attacking him personally, but ACE and the GT Awards in general.
-
^^^I didn't read in any of the posts where anyone questioned him being any kind of park expert until he whipped out the GT awards and ACE membership. Most people asked him a simple question like why he didn't expect the crowds to be insane on a Saturday. Not to mention that hidden agenda said ."There will always be some things that cannot be controlled. " Jackson took that as an isult to his intelligence, therefore, he needed to whip out the ACE and GT awards credentials. He only set himself up to be flamed every post after that.

It is a Saturday night and getting closer to Halloween, what do you expect? I think everything was handled nicely. I think everyone worked as hard as they could to provide each and every person with a great experience. There will always be some things that cannot be controlled. A+ for this weekend. I am not a stupid person. If you don't think they could have controlled telling me where to stand to be let in to the Fright Feast, I am really confused. There was a sign that said to wait right there for the dinner. It just happened to be on the complete wrong side of the restaurant. I guess that is totally my fault? Someone who worked there should have known this and directed us to the proper side. Also, I don't suppose you think they could have "controlled" directing me to the Gold Pass parking when I paid for "preferred" parking. Just so you know, the Gold Pass parking is further out than the preferred parking. There is absolutely no excuse for the parking lot attendant that works there to direct me to a lot that is further out, when there were plenty of spots in the lot that we paid for. I have been going to King's Island since Taft owned it in the 70s. I was just stating that I had a bad trip. These 2 things, if nothing else, could have been controlled. Please don't think I am ignorant about events at Theme Parks. I am asked annually to submit a ballot to Amusement Today's Golden Ticket Awards. What this means to most people is that I am considered an expert on most aspects of theme park operations. It also means that I get to vote on best rides, staff, and events at parks for each year. What I expected is something that truly lived up to the name "Halloween Haunt". I have been to "Halloween Haunt" at Knott's Berry Farm on SOLD OUT nights on more than one occasion. I was able to do all the mazes each time I went to their event. They have more mazes than King's Island. The main reason is the way they control the crowd. I would love for someone to explain to me how I can do all the mazes at Knott's, but only 2 at King's Island. I fully expected it to be busy, but Knott's has it down to an art. I have already stated that the event has great potential, I just think it may take some time to get things flowing smoothly. This is where you went wrong. You accused them of calling or thinking you are stupid when in fact, all that they did was point out the obvious that Saturdays are extremely busy not to mention the crowds have been larger than at FF. And, you also expected it to be on par with HH at KBF when their HH has been going on since KI was born. Of course they will have to work out some of the bugs considering this is CF's first HH for KI.

And here we go again, flaunting more credentials. We know nothing, you know everything. Now the world can go back to usual business. It's not like ACE is this huge, world-wide recoginized group. It's known for loudmouth enthusiasts who think my opinion means spit while everything they say is GOLDEN! Sorry, got now love for ACErs Post your report over on Coasterbuzz with credentials left in and see just how quickly you will need a flame retardent suit. It's not just this site.
-
Sorry, but I am agreeing with everything tggr said. I mean, coming in and flaunting credentials will probably accomplish nothing except you getting severly flamed. I don't have much respect for ACE nor do I think the Golden Ticket Awards are anything to be screaming about either. I have read on many coaster sites how ACErs just love to flaunt their knowledge while standing in line for a ride by people who couldn't care less. Then, they whip out their ACE card so they can "prove" that they know more than anyone else. I'm sure not all Acers are like this, but it seems to be the image that the club is projecting. We know it all, you know nothing.

I thought Time Warp was ok. I just kept hearing that song from Rocky Horror Picture Show in my head.

It's funny how policies change. I can remember way back in the day when rain wasn't really considered an issue, only lightning. I've had many rainy rides on The Beast. Of course, everything changes, especially in this litigious time. It reminds me of these new "booster" seats for young children. When I grew up, there were only the belts.

^^Which is exactly why I think DD will be sold and not re-located.
-
Why don't we all agree just to call them footies. Anyhoo, I agree that CP most likely won't be building into the lake. I seriously doubt that Demon Drop is coming to Kings Island. Obviously, CF is not interested in re-locating DD to any of their parks, otherwise, it would already be done. Is it true that the maintenance is a nightmare on the first generation freefalls?

^So, what you're saying is, we should burn down Geauga Lake?
