SFOG is one of the parks that I am wanting to visit. Hopefully I'll make it this year. I want to check out the Tony Hawk tour that will be going through there.

Actually, it is the swaying that keeps the twists from cracking under stress. If the twisted towers were completely stiff, they would be more likely to break. Having the sway allows some give in the structure.

Glad to have you here. It's cool that you got season passes for Christmas...what a great present! My girlfriend and I purhcased Max Pass season passes recently and now I've got an excuse to go to other CF parks next year. Of course, the main reason for getting the Max Pass was for the big PKIC trip next year. You may want to find out more info about that as you may be interested in joining us.

If they weren't going to be able to insure the ride, they wouldn't be trying to fix it. It would have just been torn down.

Monty Jasper is working on this? Awesome! He has done many projects at CP including Dragster, Millennium Force, and Wicked Twister. Teenageninja, of course they are going to put something there, otherwise, it won't make a complete circuit. In all seriousness, I'd like to see an airtime hill, but, I wouldn't be surprised to see just a pretty straight section that lines up with the next helix. If that's the case, I hope they make a tunnel in that spot.

Oh, I agree Shaggy. It will go down in coaster history. I also expect, down the road sometime, that rumors will start flying around in similar fashion to the reasons of The Bat's demise. Someone will say that a rider died on Son of Beast or it got stuck in the loop. I can only imagine what will be said. And, are you saying that new trains will not make a difference in the quality of the ride? If so, then why change them at all?

Great suggestion, Boddah! I have a feeling that if any company was going to make new trains for sonny, the only way they would do it is to remove the loop, otherwise, it may have driven up the cost of new trains. I hope they stick with the color theme for the trains. I always liked the red/yellow combination. I am also personally hoping for an airtime hill in its' place or a good long tunnel. Coastercrazy, I hope that was sarcasm. Otherwise, that's the dumbest idea I have read in a long time. The Beast doesn't need new trains. Nor does neither one need to be torn down. Ok, here it goes, taer it down 1111!!!!

Now, I am really convinced that Six Flags is heading in the right direction. Seems to me that most of these new shows/attractions are geared toward the young ones.

Now the question is, what will replace the loop? An airtime hill? A drop into a tunnel? This is getting interesting. I wonder if the no loop has more to do with the new trains as opposed to anything structural. I don't remember the structure of the loop being in question. Never mind, answered here...SOB loses its' loop

If the date on that photo is the 12th, then the loop is still there, unless that is the date it was posted and not taken. I found out the date by moving the arrow over the pic. It also looks like there is are being cleared by FOF in the other photos, which leads me to believe that X-Flight is also coming.

CoastersNSich, if that SOB photo is from the 13th, then the loop has not gone anywhere. Or, is that when it was posted?

If you watch the intro closely, you'll see that it has been "photo shopped" in there, for lack of a better term.

What do you mean "another" airtime hill? Currently, SOB has zero.

Pointbuzz is a pretty good site, but, Reclaimer is right. Some there are just plain mean. I've confronted a few myself. Don't let them intimidate you either. Their suggestion to you will be just to observe for a while and contribute to an existing thread before you try to make a new one. Well, if the loop is being taken out, then I hope they replace it with an airtime hill.

Maybe because it wasn't advertised that way? Honestly, when I looked at the Holiday Horrors, I wasn't sure what was supposed to take place.

And, if you go a little further east, you can find the Loch Ness Monster!

I thought it was horrorible. Why talk to the characters? Were we supposed to converse? I thought the idea was to scare me, not engage me in conversation.

I think some of this depends on the technology used. Yeah, the two four hundred footers have their problems, most of which have to do with the propulsion. Now, if you were to use an elevator cable lift, like Millennium Force, that could be more reliable and possibly more feasible as in can it be done. Now, the cost for such a ride with that kind of lift, may not be very cost effective at this point in time. I also believe, in fact, that Cedar Point at this point is the only likely candidate. The only other huge chain is Six Flags, and they are not building any more Titanic sized rides. I also think that 550 or 600 feet would be the next mark as the current record is 456ft and 500 would only beat the record by a mere 35 feet. CP tends to break records nearly 100 ft. taller than its' predecessor.
