I think it wouldn't be greedy to want some kind of new attraction, (or unrealistic). If nothing is added for 2015 then they really took two years off, one before and one after Banshee. The Reds Grille is nice but probably was pretty cheap. I'm not sure about the SOB removal cost. Also they're is sizable heat coming from Santa Claus, Indiana and a to a MUCH lesser extent from Louisville. When was the last time a family ride, (not thrill or kiddie) was added to the dry side? WindSeeker was marketed as a thrill ride. Is it? Eh, I don't know. I think it was IJST if I'm remembering right.

So with the 2015 season passes now for sale when do you think we may see a 2015 announcement? Could this be a Red's Hall of Fame Grill type year or maybe a WindSeeker type year? My guess is Memorial Day weekend. EDIT: Labor Day Weekend not Memorial Day Weekend. That already happened.

Nothing's free. They're running a business, not a charity. What you want to look for is 'mutually beneficial' - which this is.Absolutely, I hope you didn't misunderstand me. It would be ridiculous for me to expect them to operate like a charity. It's good economics to create value and that seems like what they're doing. I think the pass preview is smart. They have a probably larger than usual season pass base coming off the Banshee debut. They are taking steps to keep them. They know that some may get lost over the winter. Season pass holders are being shown that they are appreciated and valuable through these perks.

I love the idea of perks, but they are really only as free as Holiday World's drinks. Love the gift horse expression. Here's a classic, "There ain't no such thing as a free lunch.", (double negatives aside).

I never said get rid of German. I said Irish in Action Zone would be one of few theme choices that would make sense with Banshee, being that Banshees are Celtic folklore. I think that the only way to expand Oktoberfest into a real area is to absorb some of Action Zone or remove Adventure Express if the terrain isn't an issue; some have said it would be. The food selections in the Festhaus are just plain wrong. There should be schnitzel, hot pretzels, cream puffs, potato pancakes, sausages etc. All the other food can go anywhere else. I agree BB1, bring the German back to the German area.

I never fully understood why Action Zone still exists as an area. I would have absorbed Action Zone into Oktoberfest in an ideal situation. I'd say that money is the main reason the area continues to have no theme. I would think that a re-theme into almost anything could have happened pre-Banshee or if Banshee were incorporated into the new theme. Now a possible theme is limited to spooky, Sleepy Hollow, (Tombstone Territory anyone? ), or even Irish. Oktoberfest is kind of landlocked at the moment.

Hmmm, a Thursday eh? I'd say there's a good chance of a 2015 announcement that day as well.

Yeah, that's definitely true to an extent. I think you could never play to it as much. I don't think there's anything wrong with throwing enthusiasts a bone every now and then. It shouldn't ever be a main focus or anything. I know it would mean a lot to many people, yes many of them enthusiasts, if we got them back. Ten years out and we're still talking about our old eagles. They've got staying power. That's for sure.

Could someone with industry knowledge speculate how much more it would cost to move our eagles back and buy them a new set versus buying KI a new set? I think the park would receive a lot more positive buzz if we got our set back; they could really play to nostalgia.

I like "Welcome back riders. How was your ride?" It should be left at that though. Speaking of Welcome back riders there is a fantastic documentary of that name on amusement park history. It covers long gone parks like Euclid Beach and Old Elitch Gardens as well as still thriving parks like Cedar Point and Disneyland. Mr. Ouimet has spoken about rides that all family members will enjoy together. I think that an antique cars if added, would be outside of the kid's area based of his words. Once you put something in a kid's area it is usually thought of as a kid's ride. If they add 'tiques and flying eagles the interesting trend of undoing Paramount's mistakes continues. Should Back Lot be worried, haha? Could we see some kind of KCKC replacement sometime in the future? I really like the direction the park is going overall.

I think that there is at last a favorable chance that 2015 will be your year PKIVortex! I can see it now, the triumphant return of Shake Rattle and Roll, maybe with a new name and lights, along with (probably new) Flying Eagles, maybe even a classic like a Tilt-a-Whirl or Der Spinning Keggers. Valleyfair, Cedar Point and Knott's have done similar things.

But Cedar Fair added the FD and BLSC belts themselves. I'm not going to argue. All I'm saying is that the belts may or may not always be there. It's happened before. It's up to Cedar Fair.

I see your point and I'm probably overestimating the reaction. However, it would be appropriate to take note of Flight Deck's and Back Lot's belt removal a couple years back.

I see, I see. Once you recommend something removed YOU become responsible. You have to admit though that changing restraints will only give people the idea that the ride was unsafe.

I had a thought the other day. Since the seat belts seemed to be a Cedar Fair decision, if B&M recommended that the park run the ride without seat belts under Ohio law the park would have to run the ride without them, right? It probably wouldn't happen and probably wouldn't matter to B&M, but I still thought it was interesting. I do think though if I were B&M, I would be a little perturbed at CF's lack of trust. It's hard to not make B&M look bad in changing their restraints.

Yes, by goodwill I was trying to say guest experience and value, not goodwill as in intangibles on a balance sheet although those certainly matter. That promise was absurd, and I couldn't believe it when many people on here blindly swallowed the hook. I'm skeptical of the whole system, but only time will tell. I just only see this appealing to a VERY small demographic. My season pass was cheaper than a ticket + pay-to-cut. Very few would opt for the later.

Pay-to-cut systems can really tick off paying guests especially those who come once or twice a year. Yes, pay-to-cut was designed to appeal to this demographic, but I think that it is a very small percentage of the total who is willing or able to fork out the additional cash. These type of guests are the spenders, and pretty much all that existed before season passes. The question is "Does the additional revenue from pay-to-cut users override the loss of revenue and goodwill from once or twice yearly visitors?". I think that question has not been answered yet. Am I off-base?

Whoever is responsible, I'm glad for it. I had given up on going this year until I saw the changes. For the foreseeable future I think the waterpark is its lifeblood, if it stays open.

Some serious changes in the schedule today... the waterpark now operates until September 28.

"Congratulations jr. passholder you're now tall enough to experiece many adult rides. That'll be $27 dollars." They should just make it from when you PURCHASE the pass even if purchased the fall before the season. It's a one time issue for said guest. You are fairly likely to get the additional scratch next year and in years to come. In situations where a business must decide on "the customer walking all over you" and good customer service always err on the side of the latter. In rare situations where the pass was renewed online AND unused, I could see the park's point a little since no employee ever saw the child under 48" at purchase.
