Nope, nobody will be going. Due to this complete lack of guests, the park will close for the day by noon.

It's still registered to a Canadian company through September 21, 2016 called King's Island. Cedar Fair would have to buy the rights to the domain from them, likely for more than they are willing to pay.
-
Yeah, yeah.. Oh, I totally agree. It would have been great to see Cedar Fair buy out the property. They could've even built a pedestrian bridge or motorized walkway to carry guests over into the parking lot (in lieu of buses/trams). Sadly, you're probably right regarding the potential for noise and traffic complaints from the "luxury apartment" tenants. Knowing how things like that tend to go these days, there will be legal action granted against Kings Island, despite the apartments being between a freeway and amusement park from day one. Have plans been finalized for the apartments yet or is there still potential for a last-minute pickup of the property? Last I heard, the Inn was still standing.

Hmm, does anyone know what that property would have gone for? A complete demo and rebuild would be costly, though. Management and the board may have considered but scoffed at the idea of spending $30-60 million or so to build a new resort at KI when still finishing the $60 million renovations at Cedar Point's Hotel Breakers. Hotels aren't cheap to build. Or am I way off, and it would cost nowhere near that much to build a new structure? There would be no historic preservation to deal with, which surely drove up the cost at Breakers. Edit: That is, unless they have any other water parks to sell off to fund this hotel project.

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to Kings Island, happy birthday to you. How old are you? lol
-
Yep, they're definitely not cheap and not always needed. Sometimes, media helicopters have to be sent away from poorly thought out stories. You know, like a gunman in the middle of the road who turns suicidal.. Here's a timely example. http://www.myfoxdetroit.com/story/28911048/police-gunman-situation-on-middle-belt-road-in-livonia On an unrelated note, does the media ever get vehicle models right? That's not a Jeep Cherokee, it's a Patriot.

How'd you get over your fear of Roller Coasters
jsus replied to CoasterDirected's topic in Kings Island
The entire drive down, I was terrified, thinking that there was no way that I would ever go on one of those terrifying contraptions. After all, I had never been to an amusement park, and was eleven. We walked through the queue for the former Disaster Transport at Cedar Point. None of us knew what was going on until we boarded the train (bobsled). By the time that ride was over, I was hooked. On our next trip two years later, I had my heart set on Dragster, despite having been on little other than Disaster Transport and Snake River Falls the previous trip. -
Sweet, thanks, Dane!

Nope. Nested quotes is referring to quotes within quotes, not multi-quotes. My quotes don't show up when I quote you. Like this, but automatically when quoting your post: Test Test Is this what your talking about? It is working for me.

Here's the thing that bugs me. A tip is supposed to be for someone who "is putting in the extra effort and going beyond their job description to make sure you have a positive experience." So, why is it a societal expectation to tip in order to cover the wages of an employee? Why should I feel peer pressure to give someone extra money for doing their job? You're supposed to want to give someone a tip for going above and beyond. Say they're extra helpful or friendly and you want to reward them with a small cash gift. It doesn't work like that anymore; it's an expected part of the employee's wage. It's no longer a gift; it's now regular pay. *sigh* Yes, wait staff do deserve a decent wage, I just find it interesting how they get paid.

I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to the park. Amusement parks are a great way to de-stress and escape some of the harsh realities of everyday life. Having been there myself, I am truly sorry for all that you are going through and wouldn't wish it on anyone.

The 9 best coasters near Detroit
jsus replied to rlentless's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
They occupy the same industry under similar business models.. They've been known to partake in competitive acts before. See also: opening Kingda Ka a mere two years after Top Thrill Dragster, for one. While most of their parks are not directly in the same market, they are competitive businesses overall. Your post though is exactly what I was saying regarding the Metro Detroit market. SFGAm and CP are not direct competitors. Some might choose to visit Gurnee but most of the time, they'll be down at Sandusky, or in Orlando or LA. -
No, it's supposed to match the look of embarrassment on the face of anyone rejected from the park for saying anything slightly negative, before ever being allowed into the park.

Exactly, their target markets provide sufficient attendance that they do not need to pull in guests from five hours away who have other parks within half that distance. One of those is the flagship of Six Flags' direct competitor no less. -

Indeed. I'm personally interested in making a trip out there, now that I've been gifted a SIX pass. That said, I did say that we generally do not head to Chicago for that reason. Most people in Metro Detroit, on most of their thrill ride-seeking trips, do not go to Illinois. If we did, the park might see fit to advertise to keep us going back. -
They make less than minimum wage until an employer who follows the law makes up the difference between sub-minimum wage + tips and minimum wage. That's the way it's supposed to work, but I hear many employers don't ever actually pay the difference.

The pretzel is just angry that it wasn't "accidentally" added to the dining plans.

As Terpy would say, the park run by Mr. Hart provided exactly the response that he would have wanted. No more, no less. Any actions taken by members of the park toward Terpy would have been exactly as the King himself declared. Anything else would be quite Hartless. Also, I should note that I was being entirely sarcastic when I said that Terpy was trying to support "the enemy". Reading his posts makes it clear that he doesn't necessarily want the park to fail, he just doesn't believe that it will succeed as it currently is.
-
What's wrong with you? You're on our side, wanting the place to fail, and you tried to betray us by giving him money? You're enabling the enemy! I am so disappoint.

Fixed that for you:

It's a much better fringe benefit than the office supplies I got at my last job. And no, it's not stealing when the HR manual calls it a fringe benefit.

I do feel quite safe knowing the track record with the manufacturer and operator, as well as the industry in general. The safety standards are impressive, and Fury 325 seems to be no exception. Sadly, it's not always so easy to convince the masses. Remember that Cincinnati media did the same thing last year anytime they found out that Banshee was stopped on the lift..

Is there any reason to not set it to once again allow nested quotes?
