  1. I think redundant because by nature, people want to share ideas. So any thread will have debate . If you don't agree, fight me. See what I did there LOL
  2. It's such a Wonderful World of Fun! That entrance is so key to that!
  3. Wouldn’t a simple pedestrian overpass from the parking lot be a better option? It could arguably move people a lot quicker than the gondola could. @Hawaiian Coasters 325...I like the thought, but don't think it's practical. In a dream world where ki reacquires the land across the freeway, lots of things could happen over there. @MisterSG1... I think a pedestrian bridge would be a stretch because of the distance required. With height requirements, the landing would need to stretch further out. People would not want to have to walk that far and back. For safety and capacity, I think a monorail would be a solution.
  4. On a positive note...I do enjoy the Friday Fun Fact shorts they have been doing. (except when there are factual errors)
  5. That would look terrible...distract from the beauty of the Eiffel Tower and the Grand Carousel. Plus it would be loud with it being right beside the International Showplace. It would be the equivalent of a new junkyard coaster.
  6. This is where reading comprehension and critical thinking are needed by you. I have an example of two professional experts that I would listen to and follow the advice given. I went on to mention that people here, who have industry experience and expertise have stated sound, logical examples to you. You choose not to agree. That is fine, but you have your mind made up and have stubbornly clung to it I agree that this has gone way off topic. I'd suggest starting a new thread about the crane if you want more attention.
  7. If my doctor tells me that it would be a good idea to do xyz...then I do it. It may be a hunch, or based on evidence-based peer-reviewed practice. If my HVAC guy says " I have had a lot of experience with a Goodman compressor, I think yours has about 2 years left. Let's nurse it through and save some money for a replacement in the meantime." If someone who has industry experience, and PR/marketing experience, as the ones you tend to try to rile up, I listen to them and apply common sense. You seem to want intangible numbers. Sometimes, things in this industry are grey, not black and white. Since you evidently do not patronize Kings Island, and appear to not have industry experience or PR/marketing experience, I don't think you are going to be satisfied with anything anyone says here.
  8. Just like Maestro, you've been bamboozled yet again!
  9. Yes, I saw that! I'm extremely bummed that I wasn't able to go on Wednesday ( I was in the hospital), and I can not make it to the weekend shows because of work. I'm hoping they give an encore season!
  10. Anyone here able to see PTE for its last shows today? If so, any clue about if they will disappear into the mist or won't be seen again til next summer?
  11. That's because all the X traffic is routed via KIC servers as related to Kings Island (sarcastic humor). for my anecdotal observation, among my non coaster friends: Good Gravy! Was mentioned to me 4 times today. Fury 325 was mentioned to me twice today. Kings Island was mentioned zero times.
  12. I was at the Orion announcement, and I don't recall anyone booing. As I recall, it was an electric atmosphere. While there was chatter afterwards about how it wasn't Fury on steroids (in small groups), overall it went great . The enthusiasts tore it apart in the time following, but it has proven to be a fan favorite.
  13. Have you heard of The Racer? The Beast? The Partridge Family? The Brady Bunch? Evel Kineval? His Son? Son of Beast? Banshee? Those were all PR campaigns that have had a huge impact on one regional park that echoes to this day.
  14. I think you are correct. Add Action Zone reno to the list. It's tired and outdated. Short of painting the building to blend in, there's not much that can be done to the eyesore, but for after dark, both it and Flight of Fear would be a great canvas for projection mapping. Imagine being in Rivertown in the dark with a story happening, or in area 72 with meteors crashing around you. ( The other side for adventure port could have jungle themes)
  15. I'd love the GCI hybrid concept to come to ki. The wood and steel structure would make for a commanding photo op. And the ride concept looks great too!
  16. And there is a shade surcharge per parking visit.
  17. Until the California power company realizes that they have been bamboozled once again by solar and charge Six for producing its own electricity because they are loosing the revenue.
  18. Tuesday. Its not "food poisoning" it's the virus going around. I could have picked it up at Kings Island, or at Kroger on Wednesday...or from the neighbor who gave me some garden produce.
  19. Now that looks good! And this is coming from a guy with a stomach virus who's been in the hospital for 2 days where the thought of food is... not good!
  20. I think the company learned a good lesson with Dominion's 40th. They stretched it over 2 years. Then Cedar Point stretched theirs over three years (pandemic likely the reason for 3). Our 51 has some of the same things, mainly entertainment and a custom Royale Finale. With Carowinds and WOF, they continued Grand Carnivale, which is a plug and play event. I think this allows them to save resources from other things like we got last year.
  21. For me, this will end my grain and grill experience, unless they switch the chicken to a boneless breast. I don't do meat with bones (unless steak) and the pork and beef there don't appeal to me. The chicken breast at Kings Dominion was fantastic. The sides at our grain and grill are fantastic, and as others have said, should be cheaper to serve per unit than the protein options. If this is indeed a policy change, it is ill advised and dumb.
  22. Yes , I agree with you @brenthodge. The things you bring up are operational challenges but had the event been more promoted, it might have brought in more people for q3. That is not to say that the people working the event are lackluster. They are nothing short of phenomenal. They are smiling, performing and giving it their all. I mean to go from the extreme make up and characters in phantom theater encore to an opening ceremony to a parade in 8 hours, all with 200% performance shows their dedication. And that translates to the other performers in other shows. I haven't bought a tasting card, so I can't speak to that. And the ride operators... working hard with less coworkers...they deserve praise. Given the constraints with maintenance, landscaping and the park service team has been put under, I commend them.
  23. The park doesn't provide numbers, so it's anecdotal, but 7/9 of my visits this year the park has been dead. Besides the PTE merch, there has not been a compelling reason to buy merch. And given the low crowds, daily and per ride Fast Lane sales surely are down. I didn't say the company or industry woahs lie o. Choad's shoulders, I said it could be one piece of the puzzle. I mean, Kings Island is not just Cincinnati. Other parks are biting on the heals in the periphery markets like Lexington and Louisville. If they haven't gone after that fruit, do you think they are going for Charleston, Columbus, Indianapolis etc ? How many turnstiles and money has left the park because of those missed opportunities...and how many of those could have been recovered had they reached out instead of clocking out? See my response to @Benjamin22. It's not unique to Kings Island or Cedar Fair. But when people or organizations are not taking advantage of every opportunity, that is a failure. Let's say the report says we are down 100k unique visits across the portfolio tomorrow. Had Kings Island reached out and got 10k, Canada the same, Cedar Point 5k, Carowinds 4k, KD 2k, and on and on, to total let's say 30k, that's allot easier to digest. I'm on those 30k unique visits, if per caps is $30, that's 900,000 to the credit. They knew this day was coming yet instead of trying to get people in, they cut things which is pushing people away. That's a poor strategy.
