What the graphic that @King Ding Dong posted fails to show is that a virus is very very small. So if I am carrying the virus, a cloth mask or a standard mask will only filter out large items like saliva or mucus. If I sneeze inside my mask, the mucus might be contained, but viri (is that the plural of viris?) will pass right thru that mask. You are helping somewhat by keeping your body fluids contained, but you are still shedding the virus. If KDD does not have the virus and I sneeze, those viri that I just hurled out of my respiratory system are now outside and when he inspires, he takes a chance on inhaling them because the mask does not filter them out.

Testing at parks with the appropriate professionals is a good idea, if you want to test masses of people. But even with rapid point of care testing, it's not feasible as a condition of admission. They need to ramp up production of testing and labs and just get it done for 350 million people. A week after that, this nightmare could well be on its way to being over and everyone could have their plastic souvenir drink cups and salivate on the coasters. And now we are back to masks. N95 masks are the standard, they are expensive, in short supply, uncomfortable and most importantly...YOU HAVE TO BE FIT TESTED!!!!!!! Cloth masks and non N95 masks at best, contain saliva and sputumn inside the mask. They do not prevent anything the size of a virus from entering or leaving the mask. GeForce, your fatalistic viewpoint is inflexible. There is more than one way to skin a cat, so try to be open to other viewpoints. The cleaning that they talk about is only going to be effective if you are in line after it's been cleaned and the kill time per label has been observed. So unless they have someone literally cleaning surfaces and the customers not touching those surfaces, any exposure is going to happen. Random cleanings will not do much. Sort of like cleaning toilets. The attendant does his job and if your next in line, you're lucky. You got a clean toilet! I'm not a virologist or a epidemiologist, but I can read graphs. Our governor (KY) always talks about "flattening the curve" and uses the example of Philidelphia and St. Louis. Philidelphia had huge spike after throwing a parade, medical facilities were overwhelmed and many people died over a short amount of time. According to the graph, it spiked, decreased and then approached baseline quickly (zero deaths r/t the Spanish Flu.) St. Louis learned from Philidelphia and did many of the things we are doing now. However, a spike did not occur, so the medical facilities were not overwhelmed. In contrast, though, the epidemic lasted much longer in St. Louis. There was an initial curve that leveled off, then decreased, then ramped up again over a sustained amount of time before finally approaching baseline. It would be interesting to see the death tally in both cities during the Spanish Flu. I would like to know how many move lives were saved in St. Louis. I have not been able to extrapolate any data on this. @disco2000, could you try and find this out? You seem to be able to find and interpret data.

Warm weather causes people to get out and do things. Cold weather keeps people inside. If you are out and about, your family is as well. You're not passing the same "germs" around over and over. This is how it works for the common cold and flu. However, this is a new virus, so there is the possibility it will not repeat the cycle As is said around here often , just because it was done one way, don't expect that in the future.
