  1. Do you mean this coaster will be called Wonder Woman? No, KK is not a Six Flags park anymore, so they cant use that branding. That coaster is in Texas. I saw the YouTube video and it looks like a blast. I hope this is what KK is getting but it wont be Wonder Woman. Edit: I take it you really like Diamondback?
  2. How do you know they have relaxed mask policy? Please provide your sources. Does every other establishment in Sevier Co have a stringent mask policy? Are there protests in Sevier Co? It sounds like you are going to be terrified of going into any public space if someone is not wearing a mask. Are you going to stay hidden away in a bunker for an indeterminate amount of time? I'll mask out of courtesy and the sense of security it gives others. But I am going to live life.
  3. That is too easy of a challenge. I have done that several times at KI/CP and once at KD/Cwinds.
  4. I don't remember the paint color from my youth, but I assumed it was more tan than brown from this picture that was posted on KISP yesterday. Of course, tech was not great back then, and lighting is in play. Photo courtesy of Jeff Joiner and posted on KISP's Facebook page 6/15/2020.
  5. Isn't that the color the supports were painted when it debuted? Paging @KIghostguy
  6. You realize that Dollywood just opened yesterday (the day you posted this), right? So hours after opening, you are making an assumption that cases of COVID 19 are spiking in Sevier Co? And many people who visit Dollywood are not residents of Sevier Co, as are many employees. I don't get your causation/correlation theory.
  7. ^ I dont know if I copy and paste the link, if it will just post a Twitter log in page or the actual post, so I dont want to do that. I will paste the text of the tweet: SPOILER This morning our newest 2021 park addition was leaked! We are unsure at this time if our dream of a dueling Vekoma SLC (T4) will still be built, but we can hope. Below that is a construction document, I think. Edit: I am not on Twitter much, so I don't know how embedding links works on sites such as this. But you can easily go to Twitter and search Kentucky Kingdom and you will see it.
  8. An interesting tweet from KK today. Could they be getting the raptor next year?
  9. I'd think the main reason for the lack of topiary shrubs is maintenance. Those white rocks are hard to keep in place. The shrubbery would need to be trimmed weekly, and the cleanup afterwards would be dreadful. It did look nice from above. I'd love to see some of the grass replaced with more flower beds. I miss the pedestals. But I guess that is just the price of progress. I was very pleased with the overall reno of I-Street.
  10. Maybe it was the great mask debate of the late 90's that rocked Viacom and got all these coasters cancelled.
  11. Forward thinking AND naïve. Nice!
  12. Satire is in the eye of the beholder.
  13. So if KI exists in 2472, masks will still be in place? I wish I was that forward thinking.
  14. That is the standard the KI has chosen to go with. And that standard from health experts may change tomorrow, next month or next year.
  15. I thought Surf Dog will be around for years. It's a good coaster and will probably be an ACE coaster classic.
  16. Beeastfarmer does not get upset over things like this anymore. I have realized that people are going to do what they are going to do in spite of evidence-based practice. The situation has resolved, at least here on KIC. I hope he does not cuss someone out or take a swing, though. That's dangerous in general and even more so during a pandemic. I'll stay clear of any bearded fella with a well used N95 mask covered with a bandana. I have to say that I was impressed with someone's father here. Kid complaining about wearing a mask and the dad sent him out to mow and pull weeds. Sounds like he learned his lesson and looks forward to riding Diamondback.
  17. The Beast is my favorite coaster, but I rode AE more than any other last year. The lava effect was working early on, but not later in the season. in '18, it was working consistently on my visits throughout the year.
  18. Ok, we are back to nitpicking masks. Face coverings, masks, barriers, whatever we are calling them currently are in place to theoretically protect others. A virus is so small it can get thru a bandana, surgical mask and standard mask. But in the course of daily life, we excrete (sometimes rather forcefully) mucus and saliva, which is the transport media for the virus. The theory is, if your mouth and nose are covered, the liquid portion of this will be contained in the mask. So after about 30 minutes, most masks are saturated and in a clinical setting, they need to be changed. This all went out the window a few months ago. I have to wear a standard mask for about 13 hours a day when I am at work. I follow the rules, one of which is to change it when it's moist or wet, which magically happens after 30 minutes. So I go thru many masks a day, which can dwindle the supply if everyone follows the rule. An amusement park or grocery store is not a clinical setting. So in theory, the masks should stop the projectile fluids. N95 masks--unless you have been fit tested in the previous 12 months, wearing an N95 mask gives you no further protection than a standard mask does, and will serve to the protect other theory. Also of note--facial hair and N95 masks are incompatible. These masks should be reserved for people on the "front lines." There are still people being hospitalized for the virus. Someone mentioned a surgeon touching his nose. That issue is not so much about the mask, but about the gloves. Sterile gloves are a big deal in procedures. Because surgical masks are not considered sterile, if someone is doing a sterile procedure and touches the mask, they would have to stop, re-sterilize and begin again. Same principle as if the surgeon had touched a bedsheet or bedrail. I wish I could find the M*A*S*H* clip with Hot Lips and Charles to illustrate this point. Finally, my personal thoughts: I think for the most part, the mask issue is superfluous. But it is what Cedar Fair is doing. If I want to go to the park, I will follow their wish. I may not be perfect in my execution. But I will try. I am not militant anti-mask. A Scripture comes to mind, and I hope this is not against TOS, I am not promoting one faith over another at all, but I think it is good life advice and even though I don't execute this principle very well every moment, it is good to think about when thinking about interactions with others: Philippians 2:3,4: Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others as better than yourselves, not looking to your own interests, but to the interests of others. (there is some specific words next which would violate TOS, so I am leaving those out). Verse 14: Do everything without complaining or grumbling.
  19. @Shawn Meyer, many of the effects are still there. The lights seems to come and go. The fog is gone. The jungle noises are still there out of the station. The creaking noises are still on the lift hill. I wish they would bring back the wind sound effects in the tunnels. The spears still work, but I normally sit in the back seat so I dont see them often. I wish they would spruce this ride up, but commend them for what they have done.
  20. Begun? Coca-Cola has the most recognized name. Trugreen acquired ChemLawn in 1992, dropped the name in 2007 (Trugreen ChemLawn became simply Trugreen) and after 13 years, many people refer to chemical lawn care as "Chemlawn" no matter who provides the service. Not gonna discuss the tobacco companies because that is a thesis in and of itself.
  21. Coca-Cola, ChemLawn and cigarette companies would tend to disagree with you.
  22. I think it suffices to say that very few of us here know the inner workings of the park and their marketing efforts. I can just say, from my perspective, that while I would do something this way or the other way, I am not in that position. So in reality, my opinion is moot. The park cheerleaders will love it and the critics will not love it, but in the end, we have an awesome new roller coaster that we will get to ride soon. Tensions are high in our country right now, with the COVID 19 situation, racial tensions, political divisions and a multitude of other problems, but one thing that unites all of us is a love for the park. Can we not put our personal biases on hold and look forward to what is going to happen in the next month or so?
  23. I've been picking up what you are laying down. I do have to point out, though, that on SM platforms, you can have a free business account, but Facebook, for instance, charges you to "boost" your posts to reach a wider audience.
  24. Hmmmm....now I am not a local to the Cincy area (thank goodness!), but I have never seen 20 billboards for KK when I have been in Cincy, which I am quite a bit, even not r/t KI. But if they are marketing to an area that is dominated, that is not a fortune. It might be to you or me and our personal budgets, but not to a park, even a smaller park like KK. I wonder what the mural on the side of the building on 75 costs per month? I always enjoy that one and would love to own that house, or whatever it is.
