I was on The Beast last weekend and we were going up some lift hill and a woman had her cell phone out taking pictures and was sitting diagnonal from me in the sit right in front. I said something like "she shouldn't have a cell phone out" to my friend and ducked my head under the seat (we are about to go over the drop) and she told me to shut up and proceeded to snap pictures and text. And she wasn't like a teenager - the woman was in her 30's!

Welcome to the wider world... where you might see that fewer people than you think are as respectful and/or courteous as they once were. Nobody wants to be told what to do.

Hope she likes the pics she got.dry.gif

I was on The Beast in June and someone had their phone out on the first lift hill, and they stopped the ride and walked up the lift hill to take it away.

I don't know why some people do this...

 They took away the whole lift hill? Man! Are they strict!?!

Seriously... they do it because they don't care about the potential consequences if their phone flies out of their hands and hits someone in the eye.

And then when they loose their phone, they'll complain to the park about how they lost it. Even though there are signs that state Kings Island Is Not Responsible For Articles Lost While Riding.

Funniest line I have read here in a LONG time!

(I wish I would have caught it!)

My goodness...and she was still alive?! :P

When I was on The Racer recently someone in the front seat of the train next to me had their cell phone out and apparently planning on doing a POV...from about half way up the hill the ride op just kept repeating "Please put your cell phone away....please put your cell phone away....please put your cell phone away...." this guy wasn't the brighest bulb, it took him awhile to realize they meant him and he did put it away.

<I just noticed...this is my park opening post...1972!

I witnessed something similar on Delirium last year. After repeated announcements over the load speaker to put the electronic device away they actually stopped the ride and the guy was still filming when the ride op approached him and took the camera away...amazing. I was shocked they let him continue the ride after that.

People have no common sense.

"Is that REALLY called a FACEBOOKASAURUS?"

I thought that was funny the first time I saw it. My friend also pointed out the sellsnacksasaurus and his cousin the sellsoverpricedrinksasaurus.

When we were at the park in May, my daughter and I were on Beast. Two teenagers in the seat in front of us had a blackberry Curve 2 out. Yes, it was out long enough for me to know what type of phone they had. Passing back and forth from each other to the patrons in the seat in front of them the entire ride, I feared what would happen. That was one ride I did not enjoy, as I was scared the phone would fly out and hit my daughter or myself. They filmed the entire ride, from lifthill 1to the very end of the ride. I wanted to say something to the ride ops, but the culprits were gone from the ride really quickly.

Our last trip to the park a few weeks ago, I noticed the "Please put away all cell phones" message looping the entire lift hill. No music, just warnings. I mean, c'mon people..use some common sense.

The last time i was at Kings Island, a teen guy told me to shut up after i told him to put his phone away while we was on The Beast. I said you wanna make me? Him being with his girl said i will. I said to meet me at the picture booth at the exit. He came half way down the exit line with his girl, seen me turned around and headed back towards the station. I laughed at him. Open mouth, put in foot. Some of the teen guys think they are all that because they are with a girl till they get a wake up call. I wasn't gonna hit him. I just wanted to scare him to a point. Which it worked.

you could have easily left the 'teen' out of that story and it would have been fine. there are just as many 'adults' that would have said the same thing and responded to seeing you the same way. as long as this world is stereotyping the slower and harder it's going to become to accomplish things.

Speaking of people dropping things on rides, I have a funny story. I think it was 2009 or 2010 and I was in line for The Racer. I saw an older woman and her husband get into the front seat. She had blond hair and he was wearing a hat. When their train came back, The lady was wearing the hat. What do you think happened?wink.gif

Haha! How 1970's to lose a wig! I wonder if it was an Eva Gabor number, that would have put that rider back a whole 29.99,

Or worse, an Elizabeth Taylor wig. Then she would be grousing about it to this day.

This exact thing happened to me a week ago, I had to explain to people what was going on because some of them were pretty scared. Luckily we were not far up the hill, I just don't understand what makes people think that it is okay to do that. After all it is against the law.

And yet we had a poster here who thought a ride op was over-reacting in enforcing the no loose articles policy. The new vigilance does make one wonder if Cedar Fair experienced a problem. This was before the recent USO incident.

I'm surprised that the ride op took the camera away. Last year, I got in trouble for trying to take away a camera on Diamondback.

I think it is completely and utterly stupid for a person to even think about pulling a cell phone, camera, etc. out on a ride. It may just be me, because my cell phone is my life, holds my appointments, music, etc. in it. I couldn't imagine how upset I'd be if it were to fall of of Beast, Diamondback, etc. to never work again. I've seen many cell phones broken when I was doing nightly closing procedures at Diamondback. Even the areas one would not think their cell would fall out of their pocket, Mid-Course Break, had several cell phones under it broken.

Not only would I be upset at it breaking but I unlike many other people who visit the park (not talking about any of you just to clarify) would be upset if I had hurt someone because of my cell phone falling out of my pocket or out of my hands while texting or pov-ing on a coaster.

Its time some people who visit amusement parks to wake up and realize that while they are there to have fun that they have a responsibility to protect themselves and others around them even if they don't know the other people.

Well said. But I believe people should act this way EVERYWHERE!!!

Harpo Marx's parenting rule to his children was, "Do whatever you want to have a good time, as long as it doesn't hurt you or anyone else."

IMO, if a phone/camera is seen out on a ride, it should be taken from the guest and they should have to pick it up AFTER park closing at lost and found. People might actually learn that way.

As I know personally, rides can also easily eat your phone even if you're not using it. I had my phone secured, or so I thought, in my pocket on Diamondback last year, and it was missing when I went to reach for it after the ride. I still have no idea how it got lost, or why I didn't notice when it did.

Also also, what if the person is wearing a strap attached to the phone?

Is a strap going to guarantee it's still not going to fly off or have sufficient length to hit me in the face? There's no valid reason for a person to have a cell phone out on a ride period. While people think they have can hold on to such items, they have less control when the ride is going 50+ MPH.

Laughing my head off. Thanks for the day brightener.

About a week ago, I was on Diamondback and the girl in front of me had change in her pocket. About halfway through the ride, it all flew out and was about 6 inches away from my face. Scariest ride I've ever been on!
