locostitch Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Do you think that they will put up a teaser on the website like they did for Diamondback and Prowler @WOF? Or will they do what they did for the Goldstriker and Gatekeeper and just make the announcement without having a countdown on the website. There is a countdown clock and teaser page on the Kings Island website 4
tycampbell07 Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 ahhhh super stoked!! The anticipation from Son of Beast all the way up to this announcement is just amazing! You still have anticipation from Son of Beast?..... No haha I should of said the anticipation since the closure of it.
SonofBaconator Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 This sounds familiar. All I know is this, the last time Kings Dominion announced a new record breaking attraction, it turned out to be a Planet Snoopy expansion. To be honest, anything will surprise me. 2
calakapepe Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 They aren't giving any hints with a themed countdown this time, I see. 2
sheikra_rocks Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 I really do not want an inverted coaster. Cedar Fair can not take care of Raptor properly, why would this be any better. When the trains are traveling in and out of the station, it sounds terrible. NO OTHER B&M sounds like that. I was able to ride Batman in Chicago forward and backward. As you know this is the first installation of the B&M inverted roller coaster. It sounds no where near as bad as Raptor, a newer inverted coaster. Raptor literally sounds like it is falling apart. 1
Delirium13 Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 could hit 8 for the most in North America That wouldn't be much of a "world record-breaking" statistic though would it? Not that I'd be unhappy with that considering what has been passing for "record-breaking" in recent announcements around the chain. Regardless cannot wait for August 8th! 3
silver2005 Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 An inverted coaster with 8 inversions would be the most of any inverted coaster in the world. The only one with 7 is Montu. 1
SonofBaconator Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 I kinda just realized this. If it is an invert, all the coasters in Action Zone would be suspended. 1
JTW Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Since the hype train includes the general public now, will we see vertical construction before the announcement? It seems like the park should want this thing to snowball from here forward. 1
Hoeter Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Gonna swing past CSF on my way out to Brown County. See if there's anything new out. I will report back here shortly. 2
jdawg1998 Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Many people are saying the record won't be as great as we think. But remember, it doesn't say "record breaking" it says "world record breaking". 4
locostitch Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Ok here is my guess. 275ft tall. 80mph. 10 inversions. 5,000 ft long. And it is an invert
UnrealNightmare Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Worlds tallest Invert, Most inversions on an invert, Fastest Invert in the world, Only invert with two lift hills, Worlds longest invert. All world records. Probably to some these would be a let down. 4
RollerColt Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Since the hype train includes the general public now, will we see vertical construction before the announcement? It seems like the park should want this thing to snowball from here forward. The park will continue following its own construction schedule, regardless of the general public's expectations. Would it be nice? Heck yes, but if this is a large project, it may still be a while before we see any vertical construction.
Outdoor Man Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 WLW is reporting that the announcement will happen next week and will break some sort of world record. 2
Tanna Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 I just heard on the radio (55krc) that there will be a major announcement about the park next Thursday. This may not pertain to the project we're discussing, but it might. Whether it or not it's about the new project, I'm still hepped. There's so much going on at the park right now, I'll need a map when next I go.
malem Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 More details from the Kings Island e-mail newsletter: Come scream with the crowd as Kings Island unveils its plans for a new world record-breaking attraction Thursday, August 8. The most anticipated new product announcement in Kings Island's history will take place at 10:00pm in Action Zone. You don't want to miss it! Follow the announcement teasers on Twitter.
upstop Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 stats : Steepest incline highest drop fastest inverted 8 inversions second lift/launch longest inverted coaster 1
sheikra_rocks Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Sorry but I predict that if this has inversions, the number will be 6 or less.
Jr for Birdy Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 I'm excited to hear and see the new world record breaking announcement. Now back to my mid-day nappy! 2
upstop Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 ^Dang beat me. But here is the invite received by the Enquirer posted to this thread for everyone: How do we not know that Don wasn't up late last night combing this..... 2
The Interpreter Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 I'm excited to hear and see the new world record breaking announcement. Now back to my mid-day nappy! Nappy? Hopefully you are not in Britain! 6
Cdeq Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 I have a question .! For diamonback announcment did they use the word "attraction'"
Zayzayd13 Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 This coaster is being more hyped than Diamondback at this moment. Wasn't Diamondback "the most anticipated announcement in Kings Island's 37 years?" This is going to be the best week following up to August 8, 2013 at 10 p.m. in Action Zone BTW: WHO'S GOING!?
LongliveKingsCobra Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 My my now we're getting somewhere. I move into my house Aug 8th. I'll have to follow online... What's that screaming I hear? Hmm...
thedevariouseffect Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 I'll be excited to see what they're doing...however Gatekeeper's announcement I was kinda like....ehhh that's pretty lame... Hopefully this exceeds my expectations however, but only time will tell. So far I'm already impressed with how they've been working the announcement 1
NightlyBeast Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 If it does end up being Banshee (i assume it will) it would be sweet if they themed the trains with Banshee wail audio. Then when you were near the coaster you'd hear Banshee's flying around. (it also might have the nice side effect of drowning out annoying screaming riders ) Perhaps take it a step further and make them only wail at night. Perhaps the screaming scarecrows might be a clue that they already plan to do this. 1
LongliveKingsCobra Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Annoying screaming riders...with annoying screaming audio?Methinks if B&M don't put sand into the track to quiet it down, you could get the B&M Roar and hear her through out the park. Like with SOBs lift hill. You could hear that thing in Rivertown! Banshee's "wail" 1
UnrealNightmare Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 I sometimes still hear SoB's lift hill when I'm at the park. I think it's one of those residual sound things. 9
