Where, besides Kings Island, can you get Blue Ice Cream

Featured Replies

Please settle this debate between me and a friend. Whipty-Do in Mainville has a near-clone. My friend swears that in the Cincinnati area those are the only two places. I don't think that's right. Have you ever seen blue ice cream sold or served anywhere besides those two locations?

There is a place on the west side of Cincinnati around where I live called General Custer's Golf and Gulp (3325 Westborne Drive, just off of Glenway Ave, very close to Oak Hills High School) that sells it. It's called Blueberry Delight.

Thank you! She's not taking get loss of this bet very well...

And the best part is that its only a 10 minute drive from me. ^_^

EDIT: They have blue ice cream shakes?! I know where I'm stopping on my way home from school on Thursday. :D

I believe Putz's near Mt. Airy Forest sells Blue Ice Cream and its delicious (not as delicious as Kings Island's though). It is off of the I-74 Montana Avenue Exit and you just go straight and it is to the left near the intersection.

When I was at Purdue our food courts had blue ice cream in the soft serve machines in the food courts sometimes.

Kings Dominion has it...

Also The Goody Shop in Mt. Healthy had a near-clone last summer. Don't know if they still do.

Mt Healthy...I'll never go near that area without having the bf or any of my male friends with me ever again.

well, if you're strictly looking for "blue" ice cream, it can be found in many Kroger stores as a "blue cotton candy" flavor variety, Graters often carries a blue cotton candy, Maggie Moos and I'm sure many other places.

now if you're looking for the soft serve kind similar to KI's Blue "Ice Cream" you're more limited, but you can definitely real ice cream that is colored blue in many locations.

Not soft serve but Handels Ice Cream one of the best Ice Cream Company's and they have 2.00 dollar Tuesdays.

Sweet N Eats in Delhi has some every now and then. (I haven't seen it this year, yet)

I'm five minutes away from Whipty-Do yet have never been to it. That's pretty crazy. I'll make it my mission to go this summer to compare their blue ice cream to KI's.

You used to be able to get it at a place called Sharkeys in Alexandria KY

Have a correction to make. General Custer's doesn't sell blue ice cream. Its a blueberry flavor, there is no blue coloring. :( Its still pretty good though. However, its hard for me to choose Custer's as there is a Graeter's next door.

But their Blue Moon is blue raspberry.

I'm glad I'm not the only one here who has had Handel's!

Blue Moon is raspberry? For shame, when I was a kid, it was blue tinted vanilla (possibly coconut?) ice cream with bits of pineapple in it. I would get it because it was blue, then usually wouldn't eat it because I didn't like "stuff" in my ice cream. And manage to forget in between each visit.

Of course, my husband, who is a few years older than me never heard of Blue Moon ice cream as a kid at all.

To make this entirely off topic, when I was a kid, Superman ice cream was all vanilla dyed in red, blue, and yellow, swirled together. And any kid then could tell you it tasted better than plain vanilla :) I feel the Superman ice cream today, with different flavors for each color, is an atrocity! ;)

And get off my lawn!

The Cone in West Chester has it I think. I moved away from there five years ago, but as a kid I think I had it there.

Crescent Springs Ameristop has it.

Does it really? As a soft serve?

The Dip in Fairfield had a similar soft serve but not as good as the original.

I'm glad to see Whipty-Do brought up on these boards as it's my cousin and his wife who own the place! It's cool to see their dream and hard work really paying off.

Definitely go check it out! He said "it's a BIG deal on the very rare days we don't have it."

In my opinion Whipty-Do's blue ice cream is superior to Kings Island's.

I don't think its everyday, but they had some last summer. They are under new ownership. I usually go to the Villa Hills Ameristop. I will check when I head home.
