Which coaster do you want to come next.

Obviously you have not ridden The Roller Coaster At New York New York Casino formerly known as Manhattan Express.

No love for that infernal contraption. At least not from me. It's despicable. On a good day.

Heh, I have actually! But I was quite young and naive. So my judgement on the quality of the ride was lacking... I'm sure if I rode it now I would sing a different tune!

I've always wished for another long terrain-hugger like The Beast, but maybe in steel.  I've just always enjoy going out through the woods.  It would be neat just to be able to "explore" another wooded area of the park.

**edit** I didn't read enough of the preceding posts.  Looks like I'm not the only one with the same idea!

Well, I have actually thought about this for a while, so here are my picks for coaster types I feel KI could use:

WOODIES (AND RMC HYBRIDS)

Intamin Plug & Play
These are known for their amazing ride experiences, and their huge size. I would love to see a monstrous woodie tower over Kings Island again, but this time it rides amazingly with few issues to boot. However due to Cedar Fair's strained relantionship with Intamin and the rumored high prices on these, I don't see it happening. (Would be amazing if it did though)

GCI Wooden Twister

MUCH more likely than the above, since Cedar Fair LOVES GCI when it comes to wooden coasters. It would also be a great fit as the GCI "Twister" ride style would not clash with Racer's out-and-back or Beast's terrain styles. It could also get pretty big, if Wodan Timber Coaster @ Europa Park or Viper in China are any indication.

RMC Topper Track Coaster

While not technically wooden, a brand-new RMC like Outlaw Run or Goliath would be very different from anything else in the park, and thus fit in nicely. I'd be excited if we got one of these. (Hopefully with a decent track length though- most RMC's so far seem pretty short)

Gravity Group Wooden Coaster

I'd welcome it, but like the Intamin, it's probably not happening due to these having high maintenance. KI might not be able to keep up and it could go rough fast.

STEEL COASTERS

B&M Giga Coaster

Probably the MOST likely of all future coasters, due to how crazy successful Leviathan and Fury 325 were for Cedar Fair- the reviews from both the GP and Coaster Nuts were very positive. Fury 325 has even become one of the most talked about rides in recent years. Cedar Fair will probably want to continue that success at Kings Island, and I would be excited to try out what B&M can offer with a 300'+ monster coaster.

Mack/Intamin "Blitz" Style Coaster

Probably Mack due to the Intamin issues CF has had. Would likely go best in the current Dinosaurs Alive! area where it could use the terrain (this is coaster style I imagine would fit the terrain idea you guys had best) - plus, due to Blitz-type coasters usually not needing to go far past 100 feet tall or so, it could even be "hidden" in the woods and have a mysterious element to it like Beast does. (Though Cedar Fair really likes to showcase their rides and put them front & center so I have no idea if they would even tolerate this idea of "hiding" it)

Mack Wild Mouse

Probably would not be seen a major coaster, but it would add another intermediate-level ride to the park and those are usually welcome especially to younger and less brave guests. The "large park" model KBF got also slightly increases the capacity so that would probably be the one KI gets.

B&M Floorless Coaster
Only if Vortex is retired within a few years on this one, since right now KI has plenty of looping-focused coasters. However if/when Vortex does go, the park will need some kind of sit-down type looper, and a Floorless would fill that gap nicely. As I enjoy Vortex, this one can wait a bit longer IMO. :P

And those are basically the types of coasters I would like to see come to KI in the future. Though there could be more, and I'll probably end up happy with whatever we end up getting...if it's good that is...

Well, I was holding off from replying to this due to the repetitiveness of my answer to this question :P

But as I've said it once, I'll say it again.

Kings Island is missing what most other parks of it's size have in their lineup, which is a "modern" wooden roller coaster. That being said, our 3 wooden coasters that we currently have are absolutely superb, and I'm not saying anything otherwise. Quite simply, we have coasters of different styles from similar eras, and we are missing something from a new generation of wooden roller coasters. As per usual, my example of Six Flags St. Louis still holds true, and in my opinion, they have one of the most solid wooden coaster line-ups of any park, a title that we used to have, and to a degree, still do.

So what roller coaster do I want to come to Kings Island next? Simple. A twisty GCI wooden roller coaster. In my opinion, after the addition of Banshee, that is one of the very few gaps that the park still has in the coaster line-up.

Although if I were to make a guess as to what major coaster the park will actually get next, I'd be willing to make a pretty strong guess towards B&M Giga coaster, especially given the great relationship that Cedar Fair has with them currently. Ever heard the saying "Get it while it's hot!" ?

Given my preference in order..

1. a TTD type ride

2. El Toro or something similar

3. Maverick type as long as it has the new restraints

4. B&M Giga

The first three are unlikely. A B&M Giga will be next. Anything else would be a surprise.

Even though it isn't a coaster.... Think we may ever see a Triotech Dark Ride at Kings Island?

Also, I'd love to see a Giga @ KI like Fury 325 (Or bigger & better) and I like the idea of a terrain coaster, steel, wing riders, etc. I'm indifferent. I love riding coasters that go through the hills and trees especially at night!

That would fit the area nicely. I personally don't have a problem with Vortex, but people in my family say it gives them headaches after they ride it. I've heard that rumor every year about Vortex, but so far nothing has happened yet. I would welcome a B&M Floorless at KI. I fell in Love with Rougarou when it debuted last year at Cedar Point and think that would be ideal for Kings Island.

I'm going to try to think about this as logically as possible. KI already has a solid to great lineup of inverted coasters, woodies, and family coasters, so I personally would rule all of those out. I've seen a lot of posts about a modern woodie, but I do wonder what the reaction would be from the GP. Would the after-effects of SOB still linger? Maybe not, but I'm not sure KI would take the chance. Plus like I said, KI already has a pretty good lineup of woodies so I'm not sure the park needs it.

I saw one mention for a water coaster in SC which would no doubt be awesome but with a new slide tower going in there this year, I'm going to guess that'll be enough water park expansion for a few years at least.

Given CF's relationship with B&M in the past decade or so, I think we can take an educated guess that the next coaster added to KI will likely be a B&M unless something in that relationship changes in the near future. I don't know all the types of coasters that B&M builds but I know they do hyper (already have one), giga, winged, dive, and floorless. As has been pointed out by some astute posters, floorless wouldn't make much sense when there are already a plethora of coasters with multiple inversions in the park. You could probably say the same about winged, though I think that concept is unique enough (and fun enough -- I absolutely love winged coasters) to stand on its own. However, there's one just a couple hours away. I have no idea how or if that would factor into a decision to build a winged coaster though.

A dive coaster seems quite unlikely since CP is getting one this year, so that leaves a giga as the most likely, and really the most logical since that seems to be the one coaster type that is missing from the park the most. It'd no doubt be a massive hit here too. It almost seems like a no-brainer.

Hey everyone. I've been a long time reader, first time poster. I think that Kings Island will get a B&M Giga next, since it is the only one of the "Big Parks" in the Cedar Fair chain without one. That said, what I would really like would be a Mack blitz coaster, much like Helix (since the whole Intaim blitz thing seems like it won't happen). Even though there is FoF, there needs to be a new, intense launch. What I would really like would be if it was back by The Beast, darting around the woods, taking advantage of the terrain. It doesn't have to be tall (<100 even), but it would have to be fast (70+ MPH). Maybe even a double launch like Maverick. Plus, I think it would be interesting if the top of the ride just came above the trees, but just for a split second before diving back down to the terrain. Preferably it would have 3+ inversions. That's just what I would really want to see in the next few years.

First Welcome.  Knotts is one of the biggest CF park in terms of attendance so we aren't the only ones without a giga.

Really would love to see a Mack Blitz but it seems No one in the US is willing to give them a try for a big coaster they are expensive but provide great rides. Sadly I don't think we will be seeing a multi-launch unless B&M starts to make some. CF really doesn't work with either of the 2 big companies that make them anymore.

Now I think we see a giga next or another try at the hyper woodie. The giga is the more likely of the options because CF hasn't really worked built a woodie in a while. B&M has been more reliable and has been delivering intense and re-ridable coasters then any other coaster company at least in the US. A giga like Fury would definitely compliment Diamondback and our other coasters while providing a new experience for local attendees who might not make the trip to CP.

Now we might see RMC come in and help build a BIG woodie. I'm all for this idea as long as it keeps pace and is decent length. Something like Goliath is nice but it only lasts for a minute. If RMC designed a coaster taller then Goliath that also lasted about 2 minutes long I could see it being rated one of the best wooden coasters in the world.

I'm fairly certain it will be a Giga, but if/when it comes, I would love CF to continue the mythical monster/creature theme (Banshee, Leviathan, Gatekeeper, Valravn, Super Wasp 325, etc.) and have the story be where a "new hero comes to defeat the Banshee that has come to terrorize the park". The Giga's station would be in-between Banshee and The Bat, roughly where SOB's was, and part of it would interact with the second half of Banshee similar to how Shambhala and Dragon Khan at PortAventura kinda intertwine. My name for it would be Paladin

I don't understand the we are good in the woodie department comments. Yes, the woodies we have are great, but we lost over a mile's worth of wood coaster several years back. It may not have been the smoothest ride ever, but I really do miss that first drop of SOB. I would love to see another woodie by a reputable company about the same length of DB, an awesome first drop, fully trim free that is non stop speed from that first drop to the station. Several 90 degree banked turns, and let's outdo Holiday World and have a quadruple down instead of a triple down using the terrain. Although the RMC track is cool, let's not jump on the Six bandwagon, I want a traditional track. I don't care if it is a hybrid as long as we have the traditional wood track. That is my wish list for KI. I am not saying this has to be our next coaster, but the installment after, yes. Let's get back to what put KI on the map!

My point was KI doesn't really need another woodie. Adding a 200 foot woodie doesn't exactly add a ton of variety to the current coaster lineup. KI already has 2 legendary woodies as it is. Now adding a 300 foot coaster when there's exactly 1 coaster with a drop over 150 feet in the whole park would certainly make a splash.

Plus people seem to keep ignoring my point about the GP's reaction to seeing another 200' woodie being built so soon after the previous one was a massive failure. I'd be absolutely shocked if the park went down that road with their next coaster. I'd put up any amount of money give 5 to 1 odds that it won't happen. Somewhere way down the road? Possibly, but not this soon.

I just reread my post and nowhere does it say it had or needs to be 200'. My point was that we lost a very big woodie in our lineup and it seems like it was just forgotten.

You might be right, but it could be 30 years after SOB, and someone is going to mistake a new coaster for it. I think another 5 or so years is a long enough time after SOB. That is just my opinion.

You know, every time I read that, it makes me wish I had tried riding SOB, because the only part I found less than comfortable was the "transition" from the turn before the loop to the straight section that attaches to the loop, and also the subsequent "transition" after the loop.  Those soup-sandwiches make the pyramids on Maggie feel nice!  Its funny to me, because Im usually the one of the group thats hyper-sensitive to roughness.

Wow, sorry about that, my mind is playing with me tonight!!  That was a response to Terpy, concerning Manhattan Express.

You're focusing on the wrong parts of my posts lol. Whether a new woodie would or would not be over 200' is completely irrelevant. I threw in the 200' thing because it was mentioned before, but it really doesn't matter. What is not irrelevant is the fact that adding yet another woodie doesn't add much variety, or near the variety that adding a giga would, regardless of whether or not they lost a woodie some years back.

It'd be like if they took out Invertigo. I doubt many people would say they need another invert.

Would another woodie be cool? Sure. But I'd rather have a giga. We already have a couple great woodies.

Same goes for the multiple posts I've seen from people who would like another option for 44" riders. It'd be nice to have another one, sure, but KI has a darn good lineup of family-type coasters as it is with WE, FAAC and AE. To add another coaster that fits that same mold and that could accompany 44" riders seems like it'd be way, way down the list of priorities.
