jdf21972 Posted July 15, 2023 Posted July 15, 2023 KI is offering refund protection on ticket purchases online. So if you have some medical emergency, car issue or if the park closes (ie. Winterfest weather) you call a number to this place and get a refund of your ticket. Thoughts on this new insurance product.? The example below shows 3 BAF tickets if purchase. BeeastFarmer Posted July 15, 2023 Posted July 15, 2023 Did they rehire dick kinzel? While other industries do this, it's usually for cruises or tours, not a $40 ticket to an amusement park. Guess holiday world and Kentucky Kingdom will be see increases in attendance when people find out Cedar Fair will not allow you to choose a different day...but hey, they already have your money! 3 Quote
Benjamin22 Posted July 15, 2023 Posted July 15, 2023 This is beyond trashy. I remember one time when I visited Kings Island for my birthday one of buddies who had invited bailed on me, the park was kind enough to refund the ticket. Doubt they’d do the same if they’re trying to pull this. Quote
disco2000 Posted July 15, 2023 Posted July 15, 2023 Wonder if they will change closing early due to "weather" to what it is "low staffing" as apparently low staffing won't qualify as a refund but weather would Quote

Can’t remember the last time the park was closed due to national disaster being declared. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

It's FanShield's money on the line. KI is just selling you their insurance product, making profit off each sale. It's just free money to them for enabling this "feature" in Accesso. Quote
LuvingKI Posted July 16, 2023 Posted July 16, 2023 I actually added this to a ticket I was buying for my daughter's friend, I added it to her ticket and meal plan. I received the email after purchase talking about doctor notices and stuff and I canceled it. Quote

If someone buys this thinking it is truly a free pass to get a refund if they don't go and then have to provide doctor notes and mechanic bills and act of God weather events in order to get a refund, people will badmouth KI, not the third party. 3 Quote
Coastercrush Posted July 16, 2023 Posted July 16, 2023 Good luck jumping through all the hoops to get a refund. 1 Quote
IndyGuy4KI Posted July 16, 2023 Posted July 16, 2023 There might be a high hope that you forget you purchased that extra protection. Like buying a gift card for a restaurant, and forging your have it. Quote
johnjniehaus Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 I might be more inclined to purchase alien obduction insurance than insurance on a Kings Island ticket... Whatever happened to wait till the morning of after you know the weather and then buy a ticket online? 3 Quote
KI Guy Posted July 17, 2023 Posted July 17, 2023 The erosion of goodwill between the park and guests continues. First they switched to dynamic pricing to squeeze more money out of weekend park-goers under the guise of crowd control and now this. Now when someone buys said single-day tickets and doesn't use them (even due to something legitimate beyond their control), rather than refunding/replacing the tickets in goodwill they can now say "well you should have bought insurance." By the way they're not going to do that. This is merely taking advantage of the uninformed, the unassertive, and the anxious, (who will buy it just to be safe). "Insured" or not you better believe they will return you the money or replace the ticket if pushed. Remember this "product" the next time you see an insult of Six Flags business practices on this site. 2 Quote

super7 Posted July 19, 2023 Posted July 19, 2023 It sounds like they’re going to be closing the park early a lot in the future. This is disgusting charging people for the option to refund. If a business can’t provide what they advertise (posted operating hours) then give refunds. Keeping people’s money without providing the advertise good or service is not a good way to generate future business. Cedar Fair really is low on ethics these days between this and all their bait and switch. 2 Quote
