  1. Today
  2. Day 1 went pretty well, though slightly not to plan. The drive up to Muskegon from Cincinnati was mostly fine, though, the final stretches are a bit of a hassel. The driver quality in Michigan really amps up in intensity (as in forcing you to do 80 mph) once I got on I-94 approaching Grand Rapids and nearly all the way to Muskegon. There's an aweful stretch in Grand Rapids where its' fairly curvy and the upkeep isn't great, and its still marked 70 mph. Ugh. Muskegon was hopping for the first time in my 3 visits. There was a charity run this morning, and then a minor league baseball game, which, the opposing team is staying at my hotel. I did manage to take a bit of a drive around including Lake Michigan beach ERT. So, I don't post about this often, but I do live with a fairly significant digestive condition. I've had it for about 20 years, and I'm mostly feeling good most days now, but today was the one day it decided to give me a headache, literally. I got randomly dehydrated, so I had to keep it simple for dinner. There's a decent simple burger joint in Muskegon called the Station Grill that I always stop at, but I'll probably leave that until after MIA tomorrow. I only intend to eat like snacks or similar things at MIA with a useless meal plan and their menu is pretty abysmal. Luckily, there's a fantastic breakfast only hole-in-the-all place in Muskegon, too called Toast N' Jams, another one of my Muskegon staples. There's another park by Muskegon Bay I always stop at and I'll do that either before or after MIA tomorrow (it's really nice at sunset). Here are some photos of Lake Michigan ERT.
  3. Has anyone seen what's going on around 11pm at the pickup area? Cops flooded the area with sirens on and even more cops were arriving flying down the road to KI
  4. Yesterday
  5. There is a new sign in front of the former 5D cinema area “Something new is coming, you can bet on it”
  6. I miss the meet & greets with the Hanna-Barbera characters and especially the Hanna-Barbera carousel! 🎠
  7. I would love it if some of KI's flat rides would get more merch, imagine if Zephyr or Scrambler had t-shirts or hats!
  8. I'm happy that PT:ON has a lot of merch! I just hope that we see even more merch in the future. Does the OG PT ride have merch from the 90s/early 2000s?
  9. Last week
  10. I might be getting lucky with MIA as it's supposed to rain the morning I'm going. Which means.... Rain soaked tracks in ST and WW! 😎
  11. I honestly agree that it contributes to the issue. Like the problem is that Six Flags has given away the gate but at the same time they also kinda gave away the food and beverage too. I know they would have a ton of backlash if they ever got rid of dining and drink plans but at the same time I do feel that Enchanted Parks was justified in doing so. Hopefully enchanted parks can find a better balance and profits
  12. There's something I want to get some clarification on. I currently have a Kings Island Gold Season Pass with the all-park passport, all-day dining, and drink plan. I recently found out that Six Flags changed their add-ons so that they work with any park that your pass has access to. Since my Gold Season Pass has the all-park passport, will that make it so I can use my dining and drink plans at other Six Flags parks? I'm going to Kings Dominion next week, as well as Carowinds and Cedar Point later on in the year.
  13. Just out of curiosity, is there any good breakfast joints in Sandusky?
  14. [chanting] Polar Plunge! Polar Plunge! Polar Plunge! Downtown Sandusky looks very beautiful (or at least it did on Google Street View). I highly recommend going to see the floral clock in the middle of Washington(?) Street over by City Hall.
  15. Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Summer Celebration returns June 15-Aug. 2 with patriotic drone shows, dazzling fireworks, family entertainment, festival food, and unforgettable summer fun. Here’s why this summer may be the perfect time to visit Dollywood. Read more: https://themeparksbydon.com/dollywood-smoky-mountain-summer-celebration-2026/
  16. So here's what the weather breakdown appears. For Muskegon- I get there Saturday, probably between noon and 2 pm. I might get some time in Lake Michigan that day, but it'll have to be before dinner-ish. Sunday looks to be practically spring-like weather. The cooler weather does favor the 2 wood coasters there at least. I was contemplating the water park, but not with those temps. For Port Clinton and CP, Monday looks to be ideal for exploring Port Clinton and maybe downtown Sandusky a bit. Does a look a tad too cool for Lake Erie swimming. Tuesday looks gorgeous for Cedar Point (expecting some crowds, but Tuesdays are the best days to go for most parks). Wednesday starts good, but I may have to get lucky for night rides then as rain appears to be arriving later. It appears far less humid than it initially appeared. This is meant to be a very lax trip compared to my Missouri trip later in July, so for MIA and at least one of the CP days, I'll be taking my time.
  17. You wouldn’t think that a 50 year-old IP franchise was just what a 30 year-old coaster needed, but it certainly was
  18. I really think it’s going to be a Mack water coaster: https://www.mack-rides.com/products/water-coaster Would be such a fantastic addition to the park.
  19. A 60-foot-tall Rubber Duck has arrived at Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari for Rubber Duck Days. The limited-time event includes themed food, merchandise, and summer entertainment through June 21. Details: https://themeparksbydon.com/holiday-world-rubber-duck-days-giant-rubber-duck/
  20. So much of that park gets so much right.
  21. Feeling jealous of KD. Check this out. Beautiful.
  22. Disney didn’t change the thrills of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster—but it completely changed the experience. After riding the new Muppets version at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, one thing became clear: this transformation works. Here’s why the Electric Mayhem may be exactly what this Disney World classic needed. Story: https://themeparksbydon.com/disney-muppets-rock-n-roller-coaster-review/
  23. So much better.
  24. I think this is going to be a really good ride with lots of theming and some nice thrills. It's what Carowinds needed as well since they removed all three of the water rides in the dry park. I suspect they might open the second pathway entrance and possible restaurant later on after Six Flags gets more comfortable with their portfolio in its current state. It will also be interesting to see if Thrill Zone gets rethemed to fit in with RRF. I think Fury could mostly fit in as-is (it's themed to a hornet, it's not like it'd be impossible) and Hurler already needs to be helped. The biggest aspect that I'm curious to see how it turns out is the foliage. They won't have all of the mature trees shown in the POV since they tore most of them down with the Rip Roarin' Rapids demolition, but I'm hoping they can get a lot of new trees and foliage planted ASAP so it has time to grow in between now and next May. Having a log flume in a big open field doesn't sound very nice. I'll probably be fine if Kings Island doesn't receive a new thrill coaster until 2030 or beyond, but I think they're already pushing it with a larger section of the general public. Coaster enthusiasts are a loud minority, but a lot of people have been staring at The Vortex plot for the last 7 years wondering why something new hasn't gone there. Personally, I would not like to see a super flume go in Vortex's plot simply because I think it would take a lot of work to create a basin for the water. There's a chance I'd be more open to one if it was done well and themed like Coney Island's Cascades/Lost River shoot-the-chute ride. I don't know how well the super flume would work for that, but that (to me) would be better reasoning than building a new log flume just because it's a family ride. A new Kenton's Cove Keelboat Canal between The Beast and Mystic Timbers would be a different story. That would be very welcome, especially if it weaves back into some of those trees without tearing too many torn down.
  25. Ah, love the International Street refurb, minus the tree and fountain situations. Wish we could’ve had both. From one of my favorite zen, solo trips way back in 2018. Sure do miss this view. Just feels a bit open and empty still. Miss the coziness.
  26. Still there as of Sunday. (Are we celebrating trash being strategically placed and left there now ?)
  27. Based on the crowd drop I’ve seen, the nightly expense isn’t keeping them there till close. Maybe the numbers make sense (must or they wouldn’t do it juSt out of tradition) but I just don’t see the need for 10 pm closes every day if the week when most other parks don’t do it (and certainly don’t end with several thousand dollars in show expenses every night)
