There's no question that people misunderstand "Paramount" as an owner of Kings Island. In two name changes, the park has had, what, a half dozen owners? I was a fan of the additions made under the Paramount banner (Tomb Raider, Italian Job, Action Zone, Drop Zone, Son of Beast, FACE/OFF) but now as an older, wiser person less affected by hindsight, I can see the negatives of the way the park was operated under Paramount, Viacom, and then CBS. Every operator has positives and negatives. One day when / if Cedar Fair is gone, many will remember them fondly! And if CBS came back with a new vision and decided they wanted to operate a park and renamed Diamondback into Iron Man: The Ride, people would insist "It's Diamondback, and it always will be" just as many of us will always consider the rides Drop Zone, Top Gun, etc.2 points

Once while sweeping at Kings Island in the 90's, I saw a very patriotic lady in her red, white and blue bikini under her very brief Daisy Duke shorts and beings the great worker that I am, I made sure her area was well cleaned.2 points

Thanks GYK, I do, however want to share what I learned after a conversation I had with a suit (specifically Greg S.) during my last visit to the park. It began when I saw Greg and two others slide up the exit for a ride on Beast at 9:30pm. I was waiting for my boys - so I nodded my head and said hi, he nodded back I think. Then, after the fireworks, we watched the 10 pm Hot Summer Nights show and sure enough, the same 3 suits were there watching next to us. During the show, several other suits showed up. Things I overheard included: - "He's a good singer" - Something about "selling cotton candy" at which point someone went and talked to the cotton candy salesperson - "Good crowd" After the show, I stopped Greg and we had a quick conversation. He asked me and my boys how our day was, I thanked him for what he and his team is doing saying I thought the park was doing well this year, he wished us well and thanked us for visiting, we shook hands, and we went on our way to the exit. I guess, this is what I expected as a guest interacting with the park GM What I learned, he is a nice guy.1 point

A quick review for the 15 most recent people to sign up for an account here (and anyone who comes after), according to my own opinions on the topics and the terms of use for this site: You have to have to be able to name a source if you claim inside information or claim to know the future plans of a publicly traded company... But even then, be aware that ride workers, concession workers, and your friend's friends probably don't know anything about the multi-million dollar plans for the park / company. Only a select few people are actually aware of what choices the company has yet to announce, and those select view value their jobs and positions of prestige enough to not say more than they should. You can't have a post with just one word - it adds nothing to the discussion. The "Edit" button in the lower right-hand corner of your post allows you to go back and add any new comments you think of, which is why "double posting" isn't supposed to happen. Just click edit, add what you need to, and then move on! Bolding things unnecessarily, leaving the caps lock on, avoiding capitalization and punctuation, etc. are not ways to present your opinions or to gain respect. It's against the terms of use that we all agreed to when we signed up to "shout," which, electronically, means obnoxious bolding or capitalization. If you read it on the park's Facebook or heard it from a friend of a friend whose dad built Diamondback, it's best to not repeat it here, because it's probably not true and it only serves to get everyone worked up. Same goes for hearing it from "the suits" or through an electronic communication with the park that you refuse to post here. No decision has been made concerning the fate of Son of Beast, unless you believe one has that they're not ready to share. Either way, cool it?! Just trying to make my experience and yours better! Together we can have an informed community with respect and knowledge-backed opinions aplenty!1 point

And that confuses me how he's focusing on families, and probably gonna remove a family bobsled and family space spiral tower to make a thrilling wing coaster at Cedar Point.1 point
-
I think he is referring more to the change in management and their focus on family attractions, rather than saying that there will never be another giga coaster. Ouimet has stated repeatedly that he wants to focus on families. I would expect to see more family coasters, dark rides, water rides, water park expansions, etc. over shiny new giga coasters. That being said, the only publicly confirmed new rides for next year are both coasters, the new GCI at California's Great America and Cedar Point's wing rider. I would expect those to be the two biggest projects next year as far as thrill rides go.1 point

Vinnie Testacles played for the Jets, not the Giants. Got a problem with the Jets? or Vinnie?..... Vinnie Interceptaverde?1 point

Interesting way to draw attention to the park's features and get fans involved, especially considering the negative publicity the park has received the past few years. Unfortunately, a recent trip report from the park indicates that things haven't gotten any better...1 point

I will pitch in one more thing. I think we can all agree in the irony of this photo I took earlier this summer at Carowinds:1 point

So you're saying some people can't enjoy something they may have been wanting to do for a whole off season & may or not be able to ride or do it because they simply can not fork out the extra 35 dollars for each pass so they can also skip line? No, I'm sorry but it just doesn't roll with me. Then don't show up at the park, or perhaps attend on a day when fast pass isn't needed, or just wait out the longer lines and ride things a few less times on a visit. Its pretty easy, the more money you are willing to spend on something, the better opportunities you're going presented with for that money. If I spend more money, I can buy a bigger house, nice car, nicer meal and if I'm willing to fork over a ton of money, I could probably even rent out KI for a day all to myself. If you expect the same experience as everyone else, you're going to be dissapointed with life.1 point

What's with all the Debbie-Downers? It's Friday. A holiday is approaching. KI is open. SoB is closed. QUIT BEING SO F'ING SERIOUS! Thank-you in advance for your cooperation in this matter.1 point

This back and forth between you two is making me self-conscious about my username. I gotta say that I was expecting it to be jam-packed, too. Glad that wasn't totally the case, BB1.1 point

That's what I think too, but part of the argument on here is that the kids' area should appeal to adults too since they're the ones bringing the kids. I mean, in the end I think the kids have the final say so if they want to visit the "kids" area, but of course it would be nice if the adults/parents enjoyed it too. Then it's just a win-win situation!1 point

Personally I thought it was a little bit of a let down when it went from Nick Universe to Planet Snoopy. I think with Nick Universe things had more variations. Each ride/attraction was something different whereas in Planet Snoopy, there are repeats of stuff. Snoopy Surf Dog, Snoopy Red Baron, Snoopy this, Snoopy that, Linus this, Linus that...etc. You get the point. Plus, I find the Nick Toons more appealing in look, design, and color. Things were more colorful or something. As an adult, I was just kind of underwhelmed with Planet Snoopy and this is coming from someone who grew up watching the Peanuts gang and who is a fan of them. I was just disappointed at how they translated into a kids area. I find it just not that interesting as it was before as Nick Universe.1 point

Yes you DESERVE to go to the front of the line if you choose to give KI some of your money for a wristband that allows you to walk past other patrons who have chosen not to participate. Just like you DESERVE to walk through the gates because you chose to give KI some of your money for a pass or ticket that allows you to visit KI while others sit at home and watch you on the webcams. I'm really not understanding the problem.1 point

As far as More money=more valuable person goes, sadly it's the way the world works. Money Talks. Look at all the morons running for/or are in office. The first homeless man to run for President will get my vote, but you will never hear about him because it takes millions to run. Someone lied to you if they told you life is fair!1 point

What exactly are you waiting on, a press release? The ride would not have opened 20 minutes later without them knowing what had happened. Chances are most of the delay was waiting for first aid to come out and clean the blood out of the train. I think some are making this a bigger issue than it actually is. I am not waiting on anything. I was making the same point that you are making, ie that people may be making a mountain out of a molehill.1 point

The best system to avoid senseless lawsuits is to have the process that England has. If you bring a lawsuit and you loose, then YOU pay for the other party's legal costs. This is why companies settle out of court because it is cheaper than to mount expensive legal costs to defend yourself in a lawsuit. Dang, I just got a charlie horse riding that rough roller coaster, I am going to sue the pants off that park!1 point

On our last trip to KI, I ate at Hank's for the first time. Of all the great things Cedar Fair has done to clean up the park - including the new food options - this is the one thing in the park that was truly puzzling to me. I know it's been mentioned on the forums before, but... a southern coastal themed building serving Mexican food in the German-inspired Oktoberfest area? What happened there? Or the Festhaus, a German themed building in a German themed area with an American pizza place and chinese food, where they play country music.1 point

I'd personally like it more if the area itself was renovated. It 's very barren. They need to add trees, flowers, other landscaping...get rid of that ugly water tower unless they add a show like there was before , and make Flight Deck more noticeable!1 point

I am hopefull that Son of Beast will reopen next year and that would be very good for Action Zone ... For me I personally would love to see SoB get steel tracks. That could be there major annoucement later this summer what would you like to see SoB steel tracks or maybe a wing coaster?!!1 point
