Are you expected to write purely technically, or are you allowed to be creative? If the latter is true, then you might be able to use sentences like, "To help its towering, steel lift hill remain suspended high above the wafts of deep-fried potatoes and funnel cakes, massive, tubular columns of tempered metal rise 230 feet above the teeming crowds at precise angles, distributing the load evenly as each precision-designed train plummets its screaming riders along its precarious drop." See if you can add the color of your experiences in the park with the technical aspects of it.2 points

I hope they can use the ride chamber to build a Universal Horror nights quality haunt. The sound stage haunts are awesome compared to walking into a giant tent or barn that may have a facade on. They could have a 2nd huge haunt if they used just 1 more level it could get 3-5 more scenes in the building. The current one spans the 2 it wouldn't be that hard to build a platform to level out between the rows.2 points

Yes Yeah - it seems lately that some posters are trying to create a broad thread for wide ranging topics. It was done by Gordon (and rightly so in my opinion) for SoB because that SBNO coaster has a history on his website of generating many overlapping and hard to moderate discussions. Since then, we've seen it proposed for Soak City, Rumors, Down Rides, and a couple of individual rides. This, unfortunately reminds me of the TPR super topic approach (where all KI is in one thread) - not the path I'd like to see KIC take. With a touch or irony, I'd suggest that those of us who aren't moderators (and/or acting in that capacity with the support of the moderators like Gordon) should probably just focus on adding to existing topics or creating a new one if we have a unique enough topic to start and a search doesn't show the same topic already being discussed. Finally, I couldn't agree more. I've only been on here a year and a half and it seems this forum has spiraled out of control. Veteran members have left, and expert, all-knowing theme park engineers have came in. They seem to know all the rumors, everything the parks are getting next year and so much more. Most of the threads are not thread-worthy. I love new members joining, don't get me wrong, but they need to learn how to navigate the forum before making new threads that are either reposts or generic blubber.2 points

There are a lot of people who would spend less in the park if they knew how much they've spent there this season.2 points

I'll gladly help if I can (as structural mechanics are some of my favorite things I've studied in school), but I'm a little confused about what you're writing about. Like, are you just describing the visual differences in various KI support structures, and then trying to relate those differences to the purposes of the structures? That's the impression I'm getting from what you're saying, but I want to be sure. An example of what I'm saying: you observe that Diamondback has thick, cylindrical steel supports, but Adventure Express (or Beast, Racer, etc.) has rows and rows of rectangular wooden beams that are assembled into certain wide shapes. You then try to describe why Adventure Express would have wide supports made of a weak material compared to Diamondback's supports? Or maybe it's something like: you observe that the Eiffel Tower gets wider at the base, but the Festhaus (or Drop Tower) stays the same dimensions on all sides. You then try to describe why the Eiffel Tower needs wide supports at the bottom, but the Festhaus doesn't, despite the fact that it's a physically wider and longer building? Just trying to get a better idea of what you're looking for. EDIT: WHOAAAAAA MAN. Post 1000. I just hit post 1000. Definitely never thought I'd see this day.1 point

I prefer the one with the Brady Bunch, Partridge Family, Fresh Horses, Evil Knievel, Robbie Knievel, Paul Revere, Wallenda, Dick Van Dyke, Carmen Electra legacies, which happen to be in my beloved hometown. But that's just one biscuit's opinion.1 point

Terrain is a big deal at KI. The Beast, SOB, Flight Deck, AE, Whitewater Canyon - all take advantage of the acreage's terrain. Maybe this could be a better focus for you.1 point

I think the point was, in 2012, I'm going back to Fear Fest times. Then I'll go back to the Future, only to find out that my arch enemy is now the rich owner of a huge casino and hotel, so I'll have to go back to the past and save the future...1 point

You could talk about the supports for different rides and the other rides around the world that the manufacturers made, take Vekoma for example, you would talk about how Invertigo's supports are different from an SLC's or a Flying Dutchman's.1 point

I'm 20 and I have old PC games in my closet that are on 5 1/4" floppies. The computer I'm typing this on has a combo drive with slots for both sizes of floppy. And this computer has a 3.0 GHz Dual-Core and 4 gigs of Ram. In short, this computer is not ancient, I chose to have those drives. I guess some people might call me a nerd, but nerds make all the money and get jobs right now, so I guess it's all good.1 point

Yes. The park knows you were in the park. You can keep the wrist band forever and ever, if you choose. If you want to redeem it, you probably had better do so this season. You used to work in the park. In admissions, no less. As you have been told here again and again, ask the park questions like this. Only their answers are official. I could have just as easily told you the answers were 64 and a pooty tat. And someone else might.1 point

#1. We don't know if its a floorless. #2. Kings Dominion got Dominator from another park, they didn't manufacture it. #3. How do we know its going to a Cedar Fair park. Think before ya speculate ladies and gents.1 point

the Lien style restaurant does not sound like too much fun... Lien: the legal claim of one person upon the property of another person to secure the payment of a debt or the satisfaction of an obligation. You walk in, sign some papers, get high interest rates and your burger is foreclosed on before you leave...1 point

No matter how many people may complain that the dry park hasn't gotten a HUGE MONDO THRILL MACHINE!!!!!!, Soak City is really due for a new water slide. When was the last time they got a slide, 2004? When was the last time we got an attraction in the dry park? 2011? 1 year versus 8 years [for a waterslide]. I'd be happy to see Soak City get a couple more water slides in the coming years. Let's hope it's that.1 point

Which does NOT mean he was not disabled. My mother died of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She could walk...about 15 feet. After which she was completely exhausted and out of breath. Assuming someone is as able as most of the rest of us based on appearances is at best ignorant (which means not knowing) and at worst a sign of arrogance. Not all disabilities can be seen. Perhaps the man in question WAS a faker, but there is a very good chance he was not.1 point

This wasn't actually on the ride, but when we were next to get on Flight of Fear a couple weeks back, my buddy yelled at the person (a complete stranger) in the train that was about to blast off. He was like, "Hey! Before you go, I have to tell you something important about the..." and then they shot off. I was cracking up. They'll never know the important news. Reminded me a bit of Back to the Future when Marty tries to tell Doc about the future.1 point
